I couldn't resist creating a box card scene with some of the latest Halloween releases from Whimsy Stamps, depicting some fun flying witchy adventures! I used the fabulous Witch Broom Sale Clear Stamps for the sentiment and the kitty that is closest on the path. I absolutely LOVE how these kitties fit in that space to create that little clowder of cats. Their differing sizes helped with a sense of perspective too, which was cool. The smaller ones sitting further away in the scene. I also love how the eyes of the front cat sat over a pale pink part of the paper (yes I took my time to line it up that way), so the eyes glow pink. That lil' 'stink eye' expression just cracks me up too, this is SUCH a brilliant stamp! The top part of that paper is actually the trees you see off to the side on the flaps there. It just worked so well with the scene to add them there and meant no waste of the left over paper from that front panel. The sections worked so cohesively together, even though they were from two separate pages. I have used a corner rounder from my stash to create the rounded corners on the box base and all the papers. A quick an easy trick to make the completed design look a little more polished and finished. I added two struts down the middle of the box card to add the floating/flying elements to. I added a pink grass strip to the front strut and a little row of trees to the back strut just to add a little more interest in that middle section. These were cut from a panel I ink blended with Kitsch Flamingo and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Inks, so they would tone with the beautiful pinks of the papers. I used clear acetate strips to add the witches that are flying overhead and the little witch in front. This just ensures there's no white cardstock showing, which would interrupt the visual flow through to the back of the scene. The paper in back is just dreamy, I added the full panel, so if you look up from the base, it goes all the way down filling that entire space. This box card design does close very easily flat for posting and if care is taken when adding the flying elements, so they don't reach outside the boundaries of the card when closed, it will fit well into an envelope. The box base I created with a lovely strong shimmery orange cardstock. It's a good heavy weight probably between 250-300gsm equivalent to around 110lb cover weight. So it stands up well to having multiple embellishments added. My scene is actually quite sparse, many more little details could have been added, but I really didn't want to swamp the paper. The beauty of that was part of what I wanted to feature. Flat and closed, this box card measures 7.5 x 5.5 inches. It's just too big for a 5x7 envelope, so either needs a custom one or hand delivery. All the extra details of this make are over on my Crafty Kiwi Mama blog.
Thanks for spreading positivity!
