Then I demonstrated how to do my three favorite stitches: the French knot, the chain stitch, and the back stitch.

I shared that I always use all 6 strands except in rare instances, actually including this layout! I divided the thread into 3 strands to do the details inside the leaves.

I also brought in about 10 different layouts with hand stitching, basically all of the layouts on my display wall in my happy scrappy place lol. What can I say, the hand stitched pages are my favorite!!
And we talked about the fact that hand stitching is definitely a time commitment, this page alone took about 10-12 hours and I've had a layout take upwards of 30 hours before, but to me, it's always worth it. You don't have to sit down and stitch it all in one go. Stitch a little here and there, between chores, in bed at night, on long flights (you can bring a needle and sewing kit scissors), during road trips, etc. Start with something small like a tag, and then if you're into it, you can stitch something bigger!
