Spades 101

I love your handmade spades, the bg pp, the chipboard title and pattern, the solarized effect of the cards, and photo placement. I'm surprised by how the striped pp works with the rest of this page. I agree mostly with K's comments. If you go with her title suggestion, I'd place SPADES in an arc to complement the fanned out cards. I also have another simpler suggestion, though, if you choose to keep the title as is which can also fill that upper gap a little. Move the ribbon of the hidden journaling tag(cute piece, btw), to the top. For some reason, I'd really like the see the two outer photos switched out with the center ones.

LOVE the dark colors. However, I feel that the gap at the top is weird. Could you have rearranged the title and photos to not make it feel so weird? Maybe its just me...

I really like the colours and placement of everything. The corner pieces are great. The only thing I probably would have done is put spades above the photos and move the photo blocks down more in the middle. Great job!

Love the almost sooty/murky cards mood you convey here...the feeling you get when you've been playing cards 'n hangin out at the table until the wee hours... the shaded colors & papers are so perfect for this. I am also thinking of the space at the top but short of moving everything up, so this is more vertically centered, I'm not sure what I'd change. Perhaps a very thin black border (narrow ribbon or pp) across the top & bottom sides would tie it all together...?? Otherwise, love this as is, such a cool effect. I agree w/ Tiff, it feels like I'm peeking at someone's hand! (DH is a spades FREAK, btw...)

Melissa, you got awesome in spades with this one girl! I love the subject of the LO and the recurring playing card theme throughout. I love the photo placement you chose, especially the hand of cards at the top. It feels like I am peeking over at someone's hand. I do keep looking at the area at the top, but I am not sure if I want anything there. I think it would detract from that strong photo of the hand. Conflicted here. However, I love it the way it is and would LOVE to have this in my book! Beautiful and playful!

HI Melissa. I like the photo placement, it's perfect and it feels like a movie reel. I really like the effect of the card photograph and the fact you tweeked it digitally {which you're awesome at} Design-wise there are a couple of little things. I would seperate the title and put Spades over the photos and 101 under the photos because it looks bottom heavy. And then I would have the right half of the journaling strips where they are but the left ones lower.

Love the pp in this, and the strip journaling. the photo placement is great too. Only thing i see would be for the "spades 101" maybe white cs behind it, to make it pop a little, or white paint on the edges. something just to separate the two pp's.
