Tim Holtz Distress Inks are acid-free, non-toxic, fade resistant, water-based dye inks. TheyÂ’re perfect for the new vintage, stained, aged effect crafters are creating in their altered books, scrapbook pages, cards and paper craft projects. Tim selected the colors and helped develop these inks to produce a realistic, weathered look on paper, photos and decorative fibers. All the colorful Distress Inks afford added versatility when photo tinting and color layering with the original, award winning tones. The 2" x 2" pads are made with a higher raised felt for easier use with direct to paper techniques. Re-inkers available in .5 oz. amber glass bottles with eye drop applicators (sold separately).
I've seen quite a bit of variation in the lid color with this Chipped Sapphire stamp pad. But it is really just navy blue. Not dark navy. Not light navy like denim. At the same time it is not a dark primary blue because there is a tiny tiny bit of red which give it a super slight shift to purple -- which is a good thing since it goes so well with Dusty Concord. Chipped Sapphire is right in line with Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans, together they make great blended backgrounds. As wonderful as this color is I find that I use black more often for stamped images then this navy blue… black just pops more. It all depends on how you're going to us it and whether it makes a good buy for you.
Hard to find a color that is a true navy blue, but Tim's done it. I just used this today on a non-traditional navy and yellow Christmas page, and it was perfect! Great GREAT color!

This seemed to be the missing color from the first set. I love it and certainly lives up to the Ranger standard I expect.
