I purchased this for a friend and liked it more than I expected so will get one for me next. The mermaid is large and the accessories are just right to create a beach/ocean scene. The wood is good quality and the printed image is well done.

I just received the Julie Nutting wooden doll mermaid but I don't know what to use to color it. I love the sample on canvas. I haven't done anything like this before. I'd appreciate any help you can give me. All I've done until now are cards and scrapbooking. Thanks.

I used gelatos on mine. I've seen them colored with copic markers. You could use regular markers although i don't think they would blend very well. Watercolor pencils or acrylic paint also. Basically anything you can use on paper would work. I agree you should test on a smaller piece or on the back first.

I colored with a pearlescent paint. I am not a good painter but with a very small brush lightly paint with a little water - that way you can cover up any mistakes. Have a baby wipe handy. Start on one of the small pieces to get a feel for the color. I did the cheerleader and it turned out pretty good.
