    Works great!

I saw Simon demoing these inks and I’m always adding to my inks so thought I’d give the black and brown a try. Awesome! So far I have stenciled and stamped. The true test came with use on acrylic stamps. I always use my stamp platform as I find on acrylic stamps the ink doesn’t cover well. Not true with these! One stamp and it’s covered. I will be ordering all the colors!!!

Ok, you know when you get a black ink and it either turns out grey or blue. That could not be futher from what you get here! You get a black, black and all you do is bearly tap the pad and you get all the ink you need! I will be buying this for as long as they make it, I am so very happy with this product.

    Lives up to the hype!

I badly needed a black dye ink - I've tried at least 4 other ones and either they were too faint (i.e., looked more like grey), or they smeared anyway when I colored with my alcohol markers. I resigned myself to either heat embossing all the 100 Christmas cards before coloring, or using a faint/grayish ink and calling it a "design choice". Stellar Ink in Black Widow lives up to its hype. It's crisp black (as good as my Tsukineko Versafine Claire!) and dries so fast. I forgot to wait and started coloring with my alcohol markers right away and - no smearing - even when coloring an animal face (you know, with the features just line drawings)! Just a LIGHT tap of your stamp on the pad and you are so good to go. GREAT JOB Simon and team!!!

    These really are game changers!

I wrestled with whether or not to purchase these ink pads because they are pricey and I have other sets. However, they are worth the investment. These are so juicy and easy to use. Simon has an excellent brand!

    Great inks

I love these inks they blend beautifully and colors are vibrant. I just hope they come out with more colors so I can add them to my collection. The foam pads are great especially for my 72 year old hands that have a touch of arthritis. Good job Simon.

Questions & Answers
  • DO THE STELLAR INK PADS NEED TO BE STORED UPSIDE DOWN? WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED WAY TO STORE THEM?   By: Cindy May (31-Mar-26) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
This question is about a related product.
    • Hello. It is generally fine to store Ranger Ink - Simon Hurley - Stellar Ink Pads either right-side up or upside down. While some crafters prefer upside down to keep the pad surface "juicy," Ranger indicates that many of their ink types (like Distress Oxide) can be stored flat/right-side up without issue, as the ink is a suspended medium that won't dry out quickly. • Are the Stellar ink pads good for wet embossing? One comment stated the ink dried fast so that would mean they wouldn't be good for wet embossing?   By: brettkolbo (30-Jan-26) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
This question is about a related product.
    • Hello. Since these are fast-drying inks, they are not ideal for wet embossing. Successful wet embossing requires a slow-drying ink that allows the embossing powder time to adhere before the ink dries. By: Scrapbook.com (03-Feb-26) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Can you use alcohol markers with these?   By: sundragonlady (07-Jan-26) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
This question is about a related product.
    • Yes, you can use alcohol markers with most dye ink pads however, you may need to heat set the ink so it is completely dry before coloring. The only Ranger ink to stay away from with alcohol ink markers would be Archival Inks and Embossing Ink Pads. By: Ranger Ink (08-Jan-26) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Can the stellar ink pads be stored end up like the original Simon Herley ink pads? If isnt mentioned in the videos about the stellar inks, but his old videos mentioned several times that they didnt need to be stored flat.   By: Amanda in Oz (19-Jul-25) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • How are these inks different than your regular dye inks?   By: Johansenshop (17-May-25) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
This question is about a related product.
    • The ink is the same it is the pad that is different - it is now foam instead of felt so tad easier to use and better coverage than the older ones. He said in his youtube that you can use your current reinkers for the colors that have the same color name like prom queen, weeping willow, etc. He is also introducing new colors so they are not in the old line at all. Also the stellar ink bottles now have the color printed on the label so you can visually see what the color is instead of just the name. By: stardancer1914 (18-May-25) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • From the video I watched, the formal is the same. The non-stellar pads are felt, the stellar pads are foam. Simon Hurley has a video about them. I just googled what is the difference between the regular ink pads and the stellar pads. By: Sheri TT (18-May-25) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you!
