But don’t limit the reinker to just extending the life of your ink pad - it has many other creative uses as well! Here are some fun ideas of what else you can use them for:

  • Add ink splatter or splotches to your projects
  • Add fun colors to your texture or modeling pastes
  • Use water and create wonderful watercolor effects
  • Create your own mists
  • Add color to your embellishments

What is the difference between dye, pigment and hybrid ink?

Dye inks are water-based and literally dye your paper. The ink is soaked up by the paper or cardstock so they tend to dry fast. Pigment inks are made of tiny particles that will sit on top of your paper and will take a longer time to dry. They tend to be brighter, with a denser saturation of color and work well with dark colors of cardstock. They are also great for heat embossing since they stay wet longer. Hybrid inks are the best of the two ink types (dye and pigment) as they have properties of both inks. They also tend to be more translucent in their appearance. Hybrid inks are suitable for all skill levels of crafters due to their compatibility with multiple mediums and surfaces.

Tips for use:

  • Dye inks have a fast drying time and are not recommended for heat embossing.
  • This ink will literally dye your paper as the ink is absorbed into the cardstock
  • Do not use with alcohol markers as the ink will bleed
  • The ink can potentially stain your stamps - be sure to clean your stamps immediately after each use with hybrid inks.

  • I cannot find a paper that this ink doesn't bleed and feather on

I received this pad in a bundle with the entire collection and was really excited to use it. I have never been let down by an ink more.

I initially tried it on Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock. The gold standard of white card paper, right? I stamped an Altenew flower outline on it and once I lifted up I could see that the ink had started to bleed outwards and feather slightly. I wasn't getting a crisp outline but a blurry one. But since this was a Build-A-Flower I thought I'd continue.

I gave it time to dry and then stamped the second layer using the Ballet Slipper hybrid ink. This made the dye ink bleed more! This ink is totally useless to me and now I'm going to have to go out and get a new Memento Tuxedo Black since this is not going to work. I'm very, very disappointed.

Questions & Answers
  • Hello, I order this black dye reinker and received today. The bottle received does not look like the item ordered. Bottle has "Scrapbook.con Reinker" on the front, and that is all. No words anywhere on the bottle front or back indicating what kind of ink it is. Would like to be sure it is Dye ink, and not hybrid or something else. Can you confirm? Thank you very much!   By: PennyJM (21-Mar-20) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
