After struggling with my admittedly old Big Shot die cutter, I took a look at the reviews of this Intri-Cut machine and signed up for it. For those of you on the fence, this machine is truly amazing and worth every penny. It takes a while to get used to reversing the order of the die cutting "sandwich" because you put the papper OVER the die instead of UNDER the die. How great it is to get intricate dies to cut the paper on the first pass!

Intri-cut by Gina K Designs makes embossing folders, die cutting and embossing with dies roll through like cutting soft butter. Very easy on my hand grip. The first die cutting I tried was with her Exclusive dies and I had to adjust the setting but that's so easy to do too. What a wonderful machine. Looking forward to using it for many years to come.

Oh my goodness! I was so excited when this became available at Scrapbook.com! It is a wonderful machine and will be my go to specially for the 3 D Embossing folders. I was using a sizzix big shot. Great machine, but struggled with intricut dies. So many sandwiches to try before some of them would finally cut all the way. This new intri cut machine works sooo nice. I love it. I can see why they sell out so quickly. Cuts beautifully, and embossed so nice. You won't be disappointed purchasing this machine. I was hesitant to purchase the Intricut machine because I have a newer Platinim 6 already. I heard all of the awesome reviews on it and decided to get it. I am so glad I did! It is the smoothest machine I’ve ever used! It cuts dies like butta! I love that you don’t need a bunch of plates and shims to use different embossing folders, you just turn the dial! If you’re thinking about buying it, do it! You won’t regret it!

I love this die cutting machine! The year-long back-order was worth it. The best feature is the adjustment knobs! I really like not having to have a whole bunch of platforms and shims and having to figure out sandwiches for different applications (different thicknesses of metal dies, paper and embossing folders). Just turning the top knob to type of application and then 'tweaking' the bottom knob as needed. Voila! All set to go. I did purchase the silicone mat that goes with this machine, but have not yet tried it. I already had a Scrapbook magic mat (original) and used it on my first try of the Intri-Cut. It worked GREAT!!
The only reason I gave this 4-stars (would have been 4.5) instead of 5 is, though the machine is a little heavier than expected, it is mostly because the adjustment knobs are in an inconvenient location. I don't think there is anywhere else they could go because they MUST be on the ends as they adjust the actual rollers. Just inconvenient because I have to keep un-seating the cutting machine to turn and look at the knobs (the bottom one for 'fine' tuning) and then re-seating the machine and continuing the process until get the adjustment that works. I'm sure that ONCE I figure out what works for what application I'm doing - I'll be able to 'set' the adjustment before I seat the machine and start working. Other than that - would have been 5-stars for sure!!!
A nice optional feature for the future: make an 'add-on' that you would attach (in place of the handle) that would be a power-unit that would turn/crank the machine electronically. Having the option for electric or manual operation would be awesome (especially for those times when running a LOT of repeat projects).

I love how easy to use and how nice this cuts out my dies. I have a Spellbinders and a Big Shot. They all work well, and I am keeping them. The Intri-Cut is by far the easiest system to use.

Can you buy a platform mat? I need to replace mine.
Search via the internet for "Craft Platform, Cutting Mat, Adapter, 3 Plates for 6 inch Adjustable Die Cutting & Embossing Machine" Bira the manufacturer for this Gina K machine does make replacement platforms usually sold in bundled sets with the adapter for steel rule dies and also a cutting plate. Note they are sold 6" by 9" standard that comes with the Intri-cut but also there is a 6" x 13" extended size too. (Make sure you select the size you want and not a 9" machine version also available for 9" x 13" machines and platforms that Gina K has yet to introduce. The minute she does I'll be at the front of the line because I am sold hook line and sinker die and embossing folder wise with this 6" machine. I suspect eventually these will be available here on Scrapbook too. However you can also buy from Scrapbook the magnetic platform and cutting plates for the 6" machine that will allow you to cut two sides again. And yes Scrapbook sells the replacement cutting plates for both the regular grey cutting plate and the replacements to the magnetic version.

I found one for the makers of this machine by their name brand and that's a great option. However if you really need a new platform Scrapbook sells the magnetic set here too which I happened to buy when I bought this basic machine along with extra cutting mats and the silicone rubber mat too. The magnetic set for just under $35 right now fits perfectly with this machine. It's platform is a smidge less thick as original platform. Then it has a cutting plate that's magnetic and yes you can get replacement magnetic plates. One side is a cutting side the other magnetic that sticks extremely well to the platform. Then there is a classic clear cutting plate that as far as I can figure out I can switch out for the grey cutting plate sold for the Intri-cut. There is a bonus plus too with this set. I have several double sided cutting dies that was a problem for me to think around if I bought this machine how to handle. WELL this solves that problem. With the double cutting plates one for the top one for the bottom of these double sided dies I can safely use my double sided dies without worry to damage the original or the magnetic platforms. I don't use these double sided plates often and I'm not positive but they may have been discontinued but Scrapbook was kind enough to answer my question about how I could use them but they didn't reference the Magnetic platform as a solve and it really is. So really happy customer now that I discovered the day all my order arrived with the machine. I instantly grasped this was a fix. Even though I only have 5-6 of the double sided dies and I prefer to cut one side at a time rather than stack paper for each side of the die this magnetic system and set makes me whole. And the other gem not maybe understood instantly is I now know I can if I choose use any of my 6" or less 3mm acrylic cutting plates also with the magnetic die platform sets and yes I may at times need to adjust loosening or tightening the bottom dial it's all workable without damage to the machine. (I have a lot of 3mm cutting plates which I tended to order on sale when name brands came up and deals to be had often here on Scrapbook.com too. So I'm thrilled with the extra solves this set I wasn't sure I needed opened the door too.

So my original question was how to cut double sided dies with this machine. Scrapbook die a decent job answering but I do not see either post here. I'm back to answer my own question about how to cut double Never ever cut into the platform. I have more than a hundred other dies however that are the usual kind across different brands. I already ordered the machine when two different people contacted me a few days apart asking me how they manage similar double sided dies? I'd just ordered this Gina K machine...hmmm? The answer is simple. Scrapbook sells the magnetic platform and plate set by Gina K and it solves this problem instantly. As it works by providing two cutting surfaces that you can use at the same time. It comes with a platform, a magnetic cutting plate that sticks to the platform on one side the other is a cutting side. And an acrylic 3mm classic cutting plate. Now you have the option to cut either side or in my case both sides without damage to the platform. You can buy other magnetic replacement cutting plates sold here on Scrapbook and more of the grey cutting mats sold with this machine when needed too. I lucked out ordering the magnetic set, replacement cutting plates for this machine the grey one plus also the magnetic replacements too. It's a fluke I ordered not sure just all I would need but had read reviews how wonderful the magnetic set was. NOTE for those who worry about such as I do myself when you place on flat surface the original Intri-cut white platform and the magnetic platform with the die plate attached it's identical in thickness. You no doubt can also use the grey cutting plate in place of the clear acrylic both are 3mm. My neighbor's precious hubby is buying her this machine as a gift too. We unboxed and put the entire basic machine through it's paces by following Jennifer McQuire's Youtube how to use this machine. Highly recommend viewing it to get a leg up so to speak on how easy it is to understand and use. Sadly the basic machine today is out of stock today. I just lucked out getting mine this Tuesday. I recommend the machine but if you find yourself with double sided dies there is a solution by Gina K and Scrapbook alike.
