I just got mine. It is lightweight, sturdy and very easy to put together. It's just plastic with a metal ring. It seems like it shouldn't cost as much as it does. Oh well, it's worth the price.
It reminds me of a miniature clothes rack. You hang your stickers, chipboard and other embellies on little hooks and then hang the hooks on the metal ring. It is such a simple idea, but oh what a space saver! I cannot believe how much this thing holds! Best of all, the goodies are right there at my fingertips. I'm an out of sight, out of mind person. Now, I'll see my stickers and, hopefully, they'll prompt me to make a layout to show them off.
Before buying one of these, I considered making my own. I found the instructions on another site and have seen photos of the homemade ones on this site. The Clip It Up metal ring is much sturdier than a lampshade ring. And while this is made from plastic, I believe the actual unit is sturdier than the homemade ones. (Look at some of the photos and notice how the rings tilt when they've got stuff on them.)
The down side to this unit is that it's not big enough for 12x12 paper. I'd like to see the company make another unit, maybe even a lower base unit, that is big enough for 13x13 bags with 12x12 paper or kits.
Even though it has been around for a while I recently purchased the Clip it up Base Unit.
Let me tell you I do not know how I (or anyone) got along without this.
First of all I thought it was pretty expensive, but when looking around at other organizational options it is lower in price then other things. Also it is one or two pieces instead of a whole bunch of a set.
Second it is soooooooo easy to put together, I am bad at that stuff and I did it with complete ease.
Third you can literally clip up anything, the clips are strong and there is so much room, it is such a space saver! I fit all of my embellishments and stickers and chipboard on there, my stuff that took up a huge toolbox fit (with room still!) on my clip it up and I just have the base unit.
Fourth it is a huge space saver, I know I said that but let me explain. All my stuff was in storage tubs and in a big tool box and all over my desks. Now it is all clipped up and in a corner of my desk. I have so much more floor and desk space. Plus it saves in clean up time, I don't have to spend ten minutes putting everything back in its specific tub or drawer, it just gets clipped back up!
I now the idea of spinning it around to find what you want seems like a great idea but let me tell you it isn't just a great idea it is a truly great product.
This is a really nice product. It is slightly larger (taller) than I expected, especially with the additional top-piece --- but that is a great thing. It can hold much more than I expected. The top piece is great for smaller things. I grouped my small stuff like my inks and things in sandwhich baggies and they fit great. The bottom larger piece is about 15" tall and great for all those long packs of things like 12" borders and things, or the long packs of stickers, alphas, doodles, rub-ons, etc. It seems a little pricey for the few simple pieces that come in the box to be put together.. but I think the design is genius and the price was worth it. The clips are nice little metal clips that really grab and they have a convenient little hook to take them easily on and off the ring. It rotates easily and the best things is that practically everything I have fit on it! I will probably be buying more clips (even though I have a LOT that came with it) so I can squeeze as much as I can onto it (because I still have a lil room!) and because it is SO convenient having everything within reach. It sits it the corner on my desktop looking like I am open and ready for business. Woohoo!
it is everything that everyone else is saying and more. the only down side is the storage bags. i have a lot of stickers. most of them were still in the orginal packaging so i just clip them up without having to use the storage bags. michael's sells bags in 2"x3", 3"x5",and 4"x6", for less that $3 for 175 bags in each size. They close at the top (no slider), so i just put a hold at the top using a hold puncher. This makes it easier to clip them up. i still need the 5"x5" and 7"x7". The 10x10 is too large for me. i order the first bags from scrapbooking warehouse and you get (small bag) with two 2.25"x 3.25", and two 5" x 5" for $5.88 on sale. large bag two 7" x 7" and two 10" x 10" for $7.88 on sale. that is pricy.
If you find the side that i need or something close to it without having to order a 1000 or more bags please let me know.
hope this was helpful
loving my clip it up!
This is the best thing since sliced bread...okay, maybe since Cat's Eye! This is ingenious...right up there with the Cropadile!
It was a breeze to asemble and I love how it spins. I foudn things I didn't even realize I had while I was putting my goodies on. I don't know how I functioned without this tool! The clips are strong enough to hold just about anything, and the handle makes it really convenient to take along with me. It is much bigger than I realized, so I was able to put much more on it that I had planned.
I also purchased the top tier, an extra bag of clips and the large & small extra envelopes because I thought I would fill up the bottom tier (remember it is bigger than i realized). I did use both tiers, but I could have fit everything on the bottom. I recommend buying 2 bags of additional clips and one box of the large & small envelopes.
