This Multipurpose Platform is a must for creating with your Big Shot, BIGkick, and Vagabond machines (all sold separately). This hinged platform, also known as a cutting mat, has two tabs and directions for creating your sandwich for the appropriate dies on each tab and the base of the platform. This platform can be used with all the dies and embossing folders in your stash as well as all the Sizzix dies and embossing folders (all sold separately).
I purchased Multipurpose Platform because it works with Ten Seconds molds. It worked like a charm. Though it wasn't created to work with them, it worked none the less. So it is indeed a mutipurpose platform.
I put off buying this for a long time because over the years I had purchased a number of plates/platforms to use with my Big Shot. I must say this item makes using other mfg's dies worlds easier. I should have bought it sooner!
I like the Multipurpose Platform. The instructions are the best part and easy to follow.

Hello. This Multipurpose Platform is designed for use with your Big Shot, Big Kick, and Vagabond machines (all sold separately). It is not designed for the Big Shot Switch Plus.

Is this the older one that is not magnetic? My magnetic is so old but I think I want one that is not magnetic. I have the Sizzix Big Kick.
Can this be used with the Tim Holtz Big Shot Plus machine?

According to the description of the Sizzix Multipurpose Platform, it specifically states to use with the Big Shot, BIGkick, and Vagabond machines. I would venture to say that the Tim Holtz Standard Platform is designed especially for the Tim Holtz Big Shot Plus machine. You might run a risk of damaging the machine by not using the products designed for it.
