The Sky Blue Sizzix Big Shot is your ticket to one-of-a-kind and totally unique projects for yourself, your friends, your family, and your home! Instructions: To operate the Sky Blue Sizzix Big Shot machine with thin metal dies, use the included Standard Platform or an accessory platform such as the Sizzix Magnetic Platform (sold separately), as well as the included set of sparkly silver cutting pads. To create your die cutting “sandwich”, begin by placing the platform on the bottom. On top of the platform, place one sparkly cutting pad. Then place your material right side up on top of the cutting pad. Place the thin metal die on top of the paper, with the cutting edge down (in contact with the material). Finish the die cut “sandwich” by placing the second cutting pad on top. Set the die and pad “sandwich” on the cutting path of the Big Shot machine, and turn the crank to move it through the machine. You may need a little bit more elbow power once the "meat" of your die-cut "sandwich" is rolling through the machine, but only a little more pressure will get you all the way through.

Now I'm kicking myself for NOT grabbing one sooner. Y'know those Original Sizzix dies? The ones that will do CHIPBOARD, if you press hard enough?

I am a big sizzix fan, most of all I truly adore that I can cut such thick materials and this one carries on that & more - my felt and fabric cuts are so smooth! The bigz dies they have for these are so much fun to work with, and so big that your ideas almost have no end! Very great machine to have!

I like the flexibility of this product as we have been looking for something that would cut felt shapes and die cuts. this makes a nice clean cut in felt, card stock and scrapbook paper.
I wish the instructions were clearer and more comprehensive, though. This would be my only recommendation.

Have been wanting a die cut machine for a long long time. Chose the Big Shot after lots of reading. I chose this one for its versatility and the deciding factor was it was not electronic. For me scrapping is relaxing and a chance for me to get unplugged so to speak. I spend alot of time on the computer due to my Business and really did not want it to have be a part of my scrapping. LOVE LOVE this machine I am having so much fun..;-) Also the bundle was a great deal.

Beautiful design, easy to use, sturdy... almost perfect! The Big Shot saves me so much time. I love making felt and leather brooches and it used to take me hours to draw and cut dozens of circles, ovals and other shapes... Now I'm done in a blink. The only thing that saddens me is that you can't design/make your own dies. Maybe in the future?

Don't be fooled by the colors of this machine. It is not the Big Shot Plus. I ordered this machine by mistake and have since returned it because I meant to get the Big Shot Plus which has a bigger platform. However, upon inspection of this machine I noticed that is seems to be built out of sturdier material and the hand crank is made of metal. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't yet have a BigKick or BigShot machine.

Very satisfied with this product. I have another brand before this one and found it just didn't cut other dies well from other companies so as a result I became frustrated. Did my research and decided on this brand. Consider what your needs are and then decide on the brand that best suites it. So far this model has past all the test projects that I have attempted.

I have a cuttlebug machine that I have been using for a while. I didn't know much about the die cutting machines when I purchased the cuttlebug. I have been very happy with the cuttlebug. I work for a lady who has the big shot, and I love the way it cuts more detail. So when this special came up I went for it as a gift to me for Christmas. So far, I think I'm going to really be happy with it.

This is my first experience with a die cut machine. It is great! I'm even able to use my Fiskars embossing plates in it. From what I have tried so far, the Big Shot seems very versatile.

hello my friend gave me a sizzle die its called card tri shutter it mentions 2 diffrent machines which one will work for this die the size is12x12 3/4x 5/8 im thinking i have to buy the pro but not sure if another machine would work that is cheaper, please help me while you still have the sale so i can buy the right die machine thank you bonnie

Here’s a list of material it does cut: Cardstock , Craft Plastic, Grunge paper, Vellum, Chipboard, Mat Board, Fabric, Leather, Vinyl, Felt, Poly Foam, Wood, Veneer, Cork, Flexible Magnet, Rubber, Craft Metal, Grungeboard, Shrink Plastic.
I am looking for a machine that will cut felt and foam. However, I have my own pattern. What do I need to be able to cut my own pattern and how do you do it?

I've not tried the two materials that you are asking about but if you go to the company's website there are videos for the materials that crafters use and the correct cutting templetes/ platforms

I just got a big shot. It came with 2 cutting pads and a die. What all do I need to cut wafer thin dies and use embossing folders?

In addition to 2 cutting pads, the machine should also include a multi-purpose platform. The platform tells you how many parts of it should be open for different types of dies. I cut wafer thin dies with the platform completely closed. I think that I have to open the top "leaf" for embossing folders. Enjoy your big shot - I've gotten a lot of use from mine!
