While watching television, I spotted the new Bahamas commercial and logo. Made to inspire anyone to be in the water, it inspired me to scrapbook my water-related photos with its water droplet logo. With a few changes, the logo is now the perfect sketch for your water  layouts and more!

Nancy Stolz, known as nancyroo on the boards, took my sketch and created a beautiful page titled "Making a Splash." She kept the photo and title placement about the same but totally wowed me with her added stamped swirls in the place of the retro water droplets. She embellished minimally with blue glitter that kept the emphasis on the photos. Her title is large and matches perfectly. She framed her layout by swiping her inkpad on the edges of the layout.

Andrea Steed showed the versatility of the sketch with her beautiful summer layout, titled "Dandelions." The layout might feel true to the sketch, but if you look closely, you'll see how clever Andrea was when creating her layout. Rather than stay with the blocks I marked for photos, Andrea had it fit her own taste and needs and switched some of the blocks around. I love it. Rather than keep a solid background, she took us off to a mist-filled field (of dandelions, of course) with her spray mist. A white lettered title is small and delicate, like the flower her daughter is holding. Two handmade dandelions not only supported the theme, but also perfectly embellished her masterpiece.

For my layout, I tried to stay as true to the logo-inspired sketch as possible. Rather than keep a solid background, I chose a patterned paper by Bo Bunny that embellishes and adds color for me. All I had to do was add my photos, buttons and paper blocks. A big, bold title and flower completed my layout.

Testing to see how versatile the sketch really is, I tried converting it to a card. I like the results. Again, for those with summer birthdays, the retro water-like droplet shapes still worked. Another fast project!

While discussing the August sketch, I was surprised how many other scrapbookers had taken notice of the new logo and thought of creating a project too. It goes to show that scrapbookers are inspired by everything around them, not just magazines. I hope you are inspired by these layouts to create your own layout based on the Bahamas ad this summer.
