All About The Magnetic Magic Mat

Everything You Need to Know About Scrapbook.com’s Magnetic Upgrade to the Original Magic Mat® (Patent Pending)

What is the Magnetic Magic Mat?

The Magic Mat you know and love just got even more magical! Scrapbook.com has reimagined die-cutting again with the Magnetic Magic Mat (patent pending)—a cutting pad that combines the self-healing surface of the Original Magic Mat® with a powerful magnetic side to hold your metal dies securely in place during cutting.

On one side, enjoy the rigid magnetic surface (gray color) designed to prevent your dies from slipping or shifting. On the flip side, you’ll find the original, self-healing Magic Mat surface for extended crafting versatility.

Whether you're cutting detailed designs or lining up multiple dies at once, the Magnetic Magic Mat gives you stability, precision, and cleaner cuts—every time.

How to Use the Magnetic Magic Mat

  1. Place the Magnetic Magic Mat into your die-cutting sandwich (magnetic side facing up if you want the dies to stick).
  2. Place your wafer-thin die blade-down onto the paper or material, then your top plate.
  3. Run the sandwich through your machine without forcing it.

Pro Tips:

Flip and rotate the mat regularly to prolong its life.

If you want to cut on the non-magnetic side, you can use Mint Tape to hold dies in place.

DO NOT force your machine if the sandwich feels too tight. Adjust your layers instead.

Cleaning and Care

Your Magnetic Magic Mat will need to be replaced after some time but proper care extends the life of your Magnetic Magic Mat.

To Clean:

Gently wipe with a damp cloth and mild dish soap.

Avoid soaking the magnetic side in water.

To Remove Paper Scraps:

Use a soft brush or toothbrush on the self-healing side.

To Fix Minor Warping:

Although rare, if the mat ever warps slightly, you can use a heat tool or hairdryer to gently soften the mat and flatten it again.

Always heat from a safe distance (1/2") and cool completely before use.

To Extend its Lifespan:

Rotate and flip often

Avoid excessive pressure

Clean regularly

Vary die placement

FAQs

Is it normal for my Magnetic Magic Mat to have impressions?

Yes! The self-healing side will show cut marks but remain functional. The magnetic side is NOT self-healing and may show more wear over time.

Can I cut into the magnetic side?

Yes, but note that it is not self-healing like the Original Magic Mat side.

What happens if my sandwich is too tight?

Stop immediately. Do not force the sandwich through your machine. Adjust by removing layers or using fewer shims.

Can I use the Magnetic Magic Mat for embossing?

It was designed for die-cutting. We do not recommend using it with embossing folders.

Can I flip and rotate my Magnetic Magic Mat?

Yes! Rotate and flip it between uses for more even wear and a longer lifespan.

P.S. Love the Self-Healing Magic Mat Too?

If you love the self-healing surface of the Magnetic Magic Mat (patent pending), you might also love the Original Magic Mat®—designed with self-healing material on both sides and no magnetic layer.

Perfect for standard die-cutting when magnetic stability isn't needed!
