Evolution Advanced

The Evolution Advanced comes with 2 mats -- A goes at the bottom and B on top. The A mat can be replaced with a magnetic one. I've been using the Genius for that, but apparently, the new A magnetic mat is stronger.

Thanks for the reply but I'm afraid that's still a little confusing. The advanced comes with a B mat, so why an A magnetic?

Also, why a regular cutting mat if the whole point is to have less mats?

I too have the Evolution Advanced and the Genius platforms. I inquired about the difference between the Genius magnetic platform and the new magnetic mats. This is the reply I got:


YOU ONLY NEED THE A MAT FOR YOUR MACHINE. IT IS A MUCH STRONGER MAGNETIC MAT. YOU PLACE YOUR REGULAR CUTTING MAT ON TOP OF DIES AND CARD STOCK.

Hi all, new to the scrapbook.com forum.

Question about the Evolution Advanced. The mats... what the heck is going on?!

I have the Evolution Advanced, only plan to use the wafer thin metal dies, and embossing folders of many brands, but all the same typical clear folder sandwich style.

That being said, I want a magnetic mat for the metal dies, and as few mats as possible.

Can someone clearly explain what mats I should own?

I have the genius pack of 3 from M's right now but don't think that's necessary. Seems more suited for non-evolution owners that want to adapt to their machine. I'm seeing a magnetic mat B for sale and I'm pretty sure that's all I need, but can't find anything explaining for sure!

Also, the rubber mat that comes with the machine. I've read that it's for adding embossing texture from metal dies. Does anyone have an example of a die that would require the rubber mat? I've run some dies from Technique Tuesday through with just the mat B+platform and it picked up the embossing detail so a little confused on this front as well.

Can someone please confirm?
