Fedex Kinkos for printing LOs???

My local camera store (Cardinal or Cutler Camera) made some very good color copies for me last year in true 12x12 and they were only $2.00 each. I used them to enter a contest and the copy/picture quality was better than a lot of the other entries. (too bad I didn't win - lol)

I recently printed out my lo's in a 6 x 6 format to put into a small book for my dh who travels alot.

It turned out better than I expected and I was impressed with the quality of most of the pages (scanned seemed to work better than photographed lo's).

It was a quick and 'cheap' way to to an adorable project (he took it with him, so no pics yet).

I have posted this before, but will repeat if you didn't see it. Someone here gave me this great tip.

Have the copy shop make a color copy of your 12 x 12 layout and reduce it to about 65%. This will put it on a sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 paper, which you can then scan in with your regular printer/scanner. It works beautifully and the pages are true to color, which they sometimes are not with a digital camera pic.

The Kinko's copyshop near me does color copies for 69 cents each. Not a bad deal.

And you then have these color copies of all your scrapbook pages. I put these copies in a little 8-1/2 x 11 book for my grandchildren to have.

Most regular size color copiers can print a max of 11x17, even if you scan in a larger format. They simply do not support any larger paper.

Large format printing is costly. First is the charge for scanning and then to print it is pretty darned expensive too.

Yikes! I'm not interested in $20 per LO. Guess I'll have to see what I can do at the LSS.....

They can print 12x12 but their scanner is 17x11.5 so you will lose 1/2 an inch around the sides.

And if you tried to go with a service that has a large format scanner (at least in my experience), they charge you per hour and it ends up costing like $20 per layout just to scan it.

I've used an office superstore to scan with the 17x11.5, so I end up with 12x11.5, and it wasn't that bad. I just made sure to place the page in a manner that would retain as much detail as possible.

Does anyone know if they can print 12 x 12?? I just went all over their website & it doesn't mention a thing. My LSS's scanners will do 12 x 11.5.....
