Quick kutz dies in Sizzix

Please help me make a decision. I want to get a die cut machine, love the Sizzix and the embossing plates they have, but I love the alphabets and some of the other dies that the Quick Kutz has. Heard a crazy rumor that you could use the Quick Kutz dies in the Sizzix? Any truth to that??

Yes, you can use the QuicKutz dies with the sizzix. You have to have a converter and an adapter (along with the sizzix machine). The converter is about $15.00 (I think) and the adapters are sold in packs of 10. You really only need 1 adapter. The converter is used for sizzlit dies. HTH

Or, just use three of the white pads in the Sizzix....no converter needed.

Stop...don't buy the Sizzix if you want to use QuicKutz dies. The adapters that everyone is talking about are only for use in the Sidekick. If want to use QuicKutz dies and still want the versatility of using larger dies as well, buy the Big Shot. It's made by the same company who makes Sizzix and you can use all the manufacturers dies on them.

I have the sizzix not the sidekick and I use the converter and adapter for my QuicKutz dies. I saw the Big Shot this past weekend on the shop at home channel and it does look pretty neat. I like the clear plastic plates and the fact that you can see where you are cutting. I really like the thick cut dies too.

Just got my new QuicKutz alpha and sizzix adapter roday in the mail. My adapter works great with my QuicKutz dies. On the back of the package it says it works both in the sizzix and the sidekick machine. HTH!

Now what to do... I am looking to use several different types of dies that way I can vary the style. But because the machines are so expensive, I can't have them all. dh would probably have a heart attack!!! What I am seeing is that most dies are interchangeable with the machines.

Has anyone had dies ruined by using a different machine than they were intended to be used on?

I have the sizzix and the side kick and have never ruined any dies and have had them for a long time

Well, I did it, got all the pieces and tried it (with a bit of hesitation) with my QK dies and they are awesome!! no problems, very easy and most importantly no damage to dies or sizzix machine!!!! Totally motivated to start die cutting away!!

Actually the converter is for the Sizzix machine. I think all you need to use your Sidekick and the QK dies is the adapters (all you really need is one, but they come in packs of 10) and the cutting pads. But from what I understand it works just as good as the sizzlets in the sidekick.

how were you able to get a quickcuts die to work in the sidekick. Lady at an LSS by me couldn't figure it out at all even with extra pads and all. I use my sizzix (big one) and 3 of the white plates and it works great-especially the texture ones

I haven't used it in the sidekick, but from the directions with the adapters, it looked like you could.

Melanie--i believe Sizzix makes their own adapters. In the sizzix just get three white boards and you're good to go

Sizzix makes their own adapters. You will also need the cutting pad as well as the adapters.

OH! Okay, I get it, duh. Thank you. The Sizzix adapter for using Sizzlits works for QuickKuts too.... so you wouldn't need the adapter when using the Sidekick, then.......

I think you will still need the adapters for the QK dies in your sidekick. Reason being that the QK dies are very thin pieces of metal with no plastic backing. I'd be afraid that without the adapters, you would bend the die.

When you buy the adapters, it has instructions right on the adapter for using other brands of dies...

O.K. let me simplify:

Sizzix machine with cutting pad only: Works with the original sizzix dies.

Sizzix machine + Cutting pad + Sizzix magnetic converter: Works with Sizzix Sizzlets dies and Sizzix embossing folders.

Sizzix machine with cutting pad + Sizzix Magnetic Converter + 1 Sizzix Adapter: Works with other brand's thin dies (Quickutz, bosscuts, and others).
