Insult

Well, I was insulted by one of our new members! Cupcake Cutie said my layouts were dull and boring! Does anyone else think that? If my lo are substandard for this board, I promise I won't post anymore. This is the first negative comment I've received and as much, as I say I don't care what she thinks, it did hurt a bit! :-(

Well I looked at your layouts and they are not dull or boring!! They are very nicely done! Anyways, it is not about what other people like, it's about what you like! These are your memories! Do not let one bad apple make you stop sharing. I know it probably hurts your feelings, but some people just have to put others down to feel better about themselves. I don't understand it. We have had some problems in the past with people leaving negative comments in the gallery who do not have very many posts. I don't know if this is the same person. Sorry she made you feel bad! I think you have done a great job! Keep scrappin!!

Thanks Janice...it's the first time for me to get a comment like that. I emailed her personally and told her that scrapbooking is a personal thing and that I am happy with my layouts and that's what really matters. I think if she doesn't have something nice to say, she shouldn't say anything. I know I wouldn't.

I haven't seen your layouts yet, but you are right, scrapbooking is a personal thing and nobody has to judge or critize you. Perhaps someone may not share your style, but that does not mean she has to insult you. I think this is a wonderful site to share ideas and learn from others.

Your LO's are not dull and boring. I think they are lovely. That is just some rogue person trying to stir up something.

Please don't think that the majority of ladies around here are like that.

OK; I saw them and I think they are nice and they are very representative of your life. I liked the one from Schipol Aiport and now you gave me an idea for some pictues I have there too.

I love the personality your layouts have especially the ones where you've layered different textures and your heritage layouts.

I'm sorry you had that negative comment. I know how hard it is for me to post things I've made and that are a part of me.

Try not to take offense. She obviously did not read your description which explained why you kept the pictures your central focus and not embellishments. I think you have a lot of variety in your LOs and I don't find them boring at all. I hope you'll keep sharing.

I don't believe they're dull at all! I think you do a fine job on your layouts and show a lot of variety in using different papers and techniques. Just ignore that comment and please keep sharing.

Hi I decided to go into the layout gallery after reading your post, been busy lately hadn't spent as much time checking everyones layouts out. I have to say don't worry about what that one person said I myself think your layouts are great it is so nice to see layouts that aren't overpowered with all the embellishments that some people go overboard with. I have not seen a bad layout on this site but when I was taking classes for new techniques the instructors showed us a two-page spread they had done and quite honestly it was so hard to see the photos because they had really overdone it but that was my opinon and I kept to myself for these ladies were proud of it. I will say one more time I love your work I wouldn't change a thing.

Boy is that just rude. I agree with everyone else, if you can't say something nice about a LO, don't comment.

I've noticed this on other boards though and think some people are just trying to stir up trouble.

Welcome to the neighborhood! Life every neighborhood their are a few neighbors that like to cause trouble! This does happen occasionally just ignore it! It has gotten better since the ability to rate LOs went away though. I think your LOs are great please keep sharing them!

I think I remember seeing her name a few times. That hellokitty e-mail rings a bell. From what I remember, I think she sells scrapbook supplies. This was probably her way of trying to drum up business - not very effective if you ask me. I think your layouts are fine. Any time I have doubts about my work I just remeber what several people have told me...what matters is that you are taking the time to preserve your family memories. Years from now people won't care how many eyelets you used. They'll just be thrilled that you took the time to display the photos, and write down the important memories. Keep up the good (and important) work!

A few months ago there was some trouble in the gallery that makes me wonder if this isn't some more. At the time there was a rating system and someone started giving us all bad ratings and saying nasty things. The funny thing was it wasn't anyone that we thought ever had posted before. This may need to be brought to McKane's attention so he can check it out again. Anyhow don't worry because your layouts are not boring or dull so please keep posting.

It sounded to me like maybe she wanted to sell you pages or something, so I wouldn't take it personally. If you noticed , I think it was her first post. Most people who make albums for other people are caring and want to provide a service for people who don't have the time or some other reason they can't scrap, but there will always be a few bad apples who want to try and drum up busines by attempting tocause a scrapper to lose confidence in the quality of their work. I saw your lo's and thought they were absolutely wonderful.

Okay, I admit it... I am horrible and LOOOOOVE chisme. Can't help it. I had the same cruddy baloney happen to me a few months back, someone posting my stuff was mediocre. WELL. That person didn't even have the guts to post THEIR works, so what do I care. Anyway, of course I bopped on over to the gallery to see what this person had put on your LO, and I see I am too late, that post is GONE. But, the lovely search function is there, so I played. Sweetie, I honestly think you have no worries in the "dull" department...just look around...

I have to admit, my life has gotten pretty darned crazy and stress filled these past several months, and I haven't had a lot of time to stroll through the gallery, but I am ashamed for the person who felt it necessary to put your work down for whatever reason, probably to make herself feel better.

I have learned the hard way that you can't please all of the people all of the time, but you can satisfy yourself. I think your layouts are very interesting, and I hope you won't take this negative comment to heart, and let it stop you for either scrapping the way you like, or posting and sharing your layouts with the neighborhood in the future. I don't care if your albums are filled with white pages, square pictures and journaling, or if they need a crane to move from page to page, what we do we do for ourselves. I think the best thing McKane could do is remove the place for comments in the gallery--too many people type before they think!

Keep 'em coming kiddo, I hope to find the time to actually sit down and visit the gallery more often.

At the risk of sounding rude myself, there is no room in a wonderful neighborhood like this one, for people who feel the need to knock others.

I have looked at your layouts and feel they are just as good as everyone elses. I wish I could figure out how to post. That way I feel that I would have the right to say more.

Please do not stop posting. One bad apple does not spoil the whole bunch in this case.

Some people just have a need to be nasty. Maybe she isn't as confident about her own ability. I wouldn't be surprized to find out that she doesn't scrapbook at all. Regardless everyone else has said it all, don't worry about what that person thinks. You are doing something wonderful for your family. It wouldn't matter if you didn't do anything else but put your pictures in a safe scrapbook. Scrapbooking is a very personal thing and we all have a style. We are all growing and changing...I have never gone to look at the different galleries. But I did today to see what this person is talking about. You have lovely layouts. Please don't let that one person get you down. If you do than she won. I saw some really nice work in your LO's. You use a nice variety and show that you are creative. Keep up the great work!

I looked at cupcake cutie's layouts. I might be wrong but I think she is a child ? The picture of "My baby Sister " was only taken just over 14 months ago. I think her work is cute. something a child would do.

Well, Cupcake sent me an apology and I graciously accepted it.

I think that your LO are very nice. I know my LO's are not the best, but by golly I am proud of them and I like them. I am sure that everyone here feels the same about all the LO's they post. I think yours were great. Not everyone is going to like your work I have had negative feedback to, but again it was someone who never posted anything. But who care's if no one likes it! That's their problem try not to let it get to you. She is only one person.

Your pages are fine. You want to see some bad pages take a look at the only 2 I have ever done. You would die laughing. But that is OK. I think that everybody who posts layouts does a great job. And being a part of this neighborhood is going to make my very few artistic abilities come out and shine. I don't care if anybody likes my layouts or not, but I'll always listen to some advise, whether I follow it or not is another story.
I wish I had the means to post my page-maybe one of these days.

I think that perhaps Cutie might have learned a lesson here. Words do hurt. I am very glad she did apologize. The positive feedback does help.

What's almost as bad as getting negative feedback is seeing that over 100 people have viewed your layouts and only ONE person could take the time to leave any comment at all...I see this all the time...and not just on my own layouts...which I shared on this gallery only today. Seems to me that's as much of an insult as negative remarks.

You got a point... hate to say it but I just viewed a layout and no one has put a comment since oct 2002. So...being new here...I just wanted to give her a thumbs up...So I did. Enough said I guess.
