What cardmaking technique is new to you?

I'm looking for something new to try, other than the same ol' boring cards that I make. I've done a tri-fold card... Anything else out there that's interesting?

Are you looking for different styles/types of folded cards? If so, have you Googled fun fold cards or fancy fold cards?...you'll find a great selections of tutorials/videos. Or are you looking for something unique/different? Have you tried Iris folding? It is a fun technique...a little time-consuming but fun. Pinhole Embroidery is another technique that is fun too. Quilling is another one I like also. Anyway, hope this helps.:)

I like easel cards - they post flat but look fancy on display. I also made a never ending card - those sorts of interactive cards are fun to make for kids.

YouTube is a great source of tutorials for techniques. Have fun!

What are some other card types called - like gatefold and easel? I know there are some out there, but I just don't know what to call them

Both of the bears are paper pieced. The heads, bodies, arms, legs, and ear centers are all separate pieces layered back together.

have you been on split coast stampers? they give tutorials

Split Coast Stampers has a TON of tutorials! It's such a great resource!

I've done the different folds and whatnot but my favorite is still a square card.

Lately, I've been matting in complementary colors. I really like the effect.

Although I'm still to the cardmaking arena, I found out a rather interesting new technique which I am yet to try out. It's called Iris folding and it can be used to make greeting cards, on scrapbook pages, or designs can be framed and hung on a wall. Its a bit complex though, so you might want to watch a video to make it clearer!

I am going to get back to working with interactive cards. I kind of miss the engineering involved!

Here is a great old technique of origami. I wanted to show you how I used the origami shirt fold on this Veteran's Day card. The paper is brayered and stamped. I'm going to show how to make it when I post on my blog tomorrow. It is easy and so much fun to make! What do you think?
