Metal rimmed tags

Hello Fellow Scrappers,
I was wondering how do you remove the paper the metal rimmed tags have and insert your own paper or picture in. I removed the paper from the tag and tried to insert my own and it was a disaster. I find that you would need paper just as thin to fit inside the little edged space around the rim. I hope I dont sound to dumb. I purchased a bunch of tags of different shapes and sizes and really havent used them yet because I have yet to figure how to do away with the white insert.

I don't fit it inside, I just kinda cut around and glue the metal on top of the pic or paper. HTH, Amy

If I am just wanting pattern paper then I just glue it down right over the paper in the tag! I don't always cut the center out, but when I do I glue it on top like camntay324!

i find it really hard to try to cut it the perfect size to put it in there as well, so i just glued it on the oposite side and its worked well. Velum also works well but be careful with the glue marks!

Thank you guys, I will try to just gluing the paper on the backside of the metal rim it will save me ruining any more metal rims.

since the metal is kind of hard, I lay my paper down in the center of the cirlcle and trace it with my pen all around the rim. I hope that makes sense. Then it leaves the perfect shape and size circle to cut out and then I glue it down.

gosh angie, you know i have tried and tried to cut little circles out with zero success and that idea is so simple and works,I LOVE this board, i learn something that has frustrated the poop out of me, i couldnot cut a good circle and the tags are different sizes. THANKSSSSSSSS

I have done this, its very aggravating! But all I did was cut with an exacto knife the white circle out, then you have like a paper ridge, and I just go along with my knife and continue cutting it out. I used my fiskars circle, and I also have a circle punch that fits perfectly into the metal. I just kinda snap it in, so far this has been working for me!

I cut out the paper with an exacto knife then glue it down on top of the paper. Then I just cut the extra away with sissors.

Here is an example of what I've done:
River Thames All the ovals are metal tags that I've just added my own paper. The Metal sits on top of the paper so it kind of pops too.

I like to make my own by cutting a circle or whatever shape I want. Then if I want something on the tag, I put it on. Then I take an embossing pen and go around the edge, then I use silver embossing powder and heat. Waalaa, you've got a tag.

If you have the inch size tags, you can use the orange circle punch from EK Success- paper shapers. I cut the white out with the exacto knife if I have to cut it. Like the others, if I do not use the 1 inch round, I just cut out the middle and lay the paper on the back and clue with the Zig glue pen.

I've seen it done on a TV show where they cut an "X" with a craft knife on the paper inside, which crates 4 pcs. Then they tugged on 1 pience and it popped out. Haven't tried myself yet!
