paper cutter that cuts straight??!!

Has anyone found a paper cutter that cuts a straight line and lasts? I have used Fiskar, but seem to have to replace them often. I also have a cutterpede, but not real impressed with it either.

Please point me in the direction of a good paper cutter!!

i have been searching and searching and searching...got 4 trimmers that i hate...this weekend I bought the 12inch trimmer from CM and LOVE IT!!! It works quick and easy like my old fiskers but the rep and others have told me that theirs have never started to cut unevenly. Hope that is true!

I have the Zision by ProvoCraft, and I love it. I've bought them for all my friends and family who scrap because I love it so much!

You can run foil through your trimmer and that helps sharpen the blade, I hear.

I hear the Tonic Guillotine is amazing! It's a little more pricey. I couldn't find it when I went looking, but I did lots of research, and found that those two came the most recommended. Good luck!

I can't say enough good things about my Fiskars Rotary Desktop Trimmer. They sell it here in the superstore, but I got mine at ACMoore with a Coupon . It cuts straight and has a smudge guard that I LOVE!

I just got the Purple Cows 2 in 1 trimmer and am loving it.

Keep all the advise coming! I looked up the Tonic and it has great reviews - and a 5 year warranty.

I will go check the others now.

It would be nice to find one that Michaels has so I can use a Coupon .

There is an online store... that has 50% off Coupon s and also carries the Tonic trimmer. They also have stores all around... and used to be all about just fabric...

I love Fiskars trimmers because of the measurements but they suck as far as cutting straight. I've gone through 3 of them in the last year.

I think the plastic piece that is under the blade gets wider which allows the blade to move around a little. I am not talking about a really crooked line, just not completely straight.

Another vote for the Tonic guillotine! I have one and LOVE it!

Here's another vote for the CM 12" trimmer. I've never had a problem with it. I had the Fiskars too and hated it!!

I have a Genisis table top Rotary cutter which is AMAZING....has a lite so you can see exactly where you are cutting...I need a new portable one tho so will have to check some of these things out.

I've had my Fiskars trimmer for about 3 years, and never had a problem with it, but that's just me I don't replace the blades that often, maybe once every few months, but I use it until it's REALLY dull. If my edges are a bit rough, I just run my sanding block down the side quickly and it's good to go.

I have had two Fiskars and now I own a MM Trimmer. The MM Trimmer is by far the best trimmer I have ever used.

It cuts the tiniest sliver of paper, and perfectly EVERY time. It cuts the thinnest paper to the thickest with ease. You never have to buy blades as it is self sharpening.

I will never go back to a Fiskars . The MM Trimmer is well worth the money.

I second the vote for the MM trimmer, for the same reasons. I *love* it!

Everyone has their preference of what trimmer has/has not worked for them. I have had great luck with my Fiskars and I ***LOVE*** my new Desktop Rotary Trimmer.

The reason I am posting is that if you have a problem with a Fiskars product, contact their customer service. They are the BEST!!!

My favorite is the Dahle. Cuts straight every time & will even cut down to little slivers! Worth the $$$.

I have had numerous Fiskars and the CM...but I am never going back!

I have a fiskar and really like it. I sometimes notice it will cut a little crooked, but I thought it was me and how I had the paper in the cutter. I don't have a lot of experience with other cutters so I can't really say. I do like mine for now!

I have a Purple Cows and really love it. I use the guillotine side all the time and rarely ever use the rotary side. It is too big though to take to crops, so I have the Fiskars for traveling.

I have the triple track Fiskars . I have only had it maybe since the beg of the year. I like it so far. I had heard the MM trimmer is very good. I wanted the rotary Fiskars one but a bit pricey.
Purple Cow is supposed to be good also. I want to get the wavy edged thing that Purple Cow has.

I think I saw the Making Memories one at Michaels. I did look at it a while, but decided I needed to know for sure if it was a good one before spending more money on it. It sounds like it might be worth the extra money.

Has anyone used the Tonic and the Making Memories ? I am trying to decide now which to get. I think I do better with a cutter than a guillotine - but probably would get used to it.

I am so glad to hear that some of you have and like the Tonic guillotine. I just bought the 12inch model for $24 with a 50% off Coupon online. I'll only get it the 2nd week of June, and I'm very impatient. (I bought the small one too, with another Coupon .) I saw them on the ScrapLounge Videos and thought they seemed really good. I especially like the measurements on the side.

I've been using the paper cutter from the Cricut line and I've been very happy with it. I got it from Walmart for around 8.00. I used to have a Fiskars cutter but it cut so crooked that it made my eyes crossed! I've been using my little green Cricut cutter for three months now with NO problem. The only thing that is annoying is that the ruler part wants to snap in. grrr.

That's what I liked about my PC trimmer. You could lift the ruler part up, line your small papers up, snap the ruler back down, and cut!

I have the MM trimmer now, and oh, boy, I think I am in looooooove! It cuts perfectly straight every single time. I had to trim off the tiniest piece last night, and the trimmed-off piece looked like a ringlet! And it was about as fine as a hair!

I noticed today that my fiskar trimmer will cut crooked if I am not real careful. I see now how this can be a problem. Maybe soon I will buy a different one.

I'm another Fiskars user who hasn't had any problems and I've had mine for a couple of years. I have the larger black one, don't know if that makes any difference. I've only used one blade so far, just changed it last week.

Do you use it much? I can't believe you are just now changing it.

I have Tonic cutter w/ a rotary trimmer on the other side & it cuts very good...I purchased mine from Ebay & the price was great...New in the box..

I have seen the MM cutter at Michaels, and am a little leary of it. I know it "says" self sharping...and it very well may be. But has anyone had it long enough to know for sure that it is self sharping? If I'm not mistaken, it only came out a few months or more ago. Is that long enough to know if it won't get dull eventually?

I have a Fiskers, and love it. I'm not in the market for a new cutter. But am curiouse about the MM one.

Anybody with the MM trimmer...have you noticed the measurements wearing off? Or the magnet on the back of the ruler coming loose??? I have had mine for only a couple of weeks and noticed that! Other than that, the trimmer is perfect! I have an email in to MM to see what can be done about it.

I had a Fiskars trimmer, it cut crooked so I gave it to ds for his sb supplies, lol. I think with mine, the blad may have actually cut into the plastic making it more crooked. For cropping I bought the bright green and pink one from HL the Provo Craft one, normally only 6.99, and I bought it with a coupon. I loved it enough that I went and bought another one this week b/c they are on sale for only $4.99!! I think it was a steal! I haven't tried it yet, but for home use, I also picked up the Fiskars desktop rotary trimmer at M's on clearance, and they let me use my coupon, I think it came out to only 18 bucks or so. I am not sure how much of a bargain it was, but I am glad to see that someone else here has mentioned they love theirs, so I am looking forward to using it :). Anyway, I still stand by the green and pink one, even at reg price of 6.99 it is a bargain, and imho way better than the little grey and orange Fiskars one.

i have a big black friskars one its a rotary blade. and i love it. took a while to get used to, and it's hard to lift up the arm that the blade is on. i actually just slide my paper under it to cut. but it cuts sraight all the time. im actually doing research on a cutter to take to crops.

i actually had a guitten (?) one once that wasn't square out of the box. got it from office depot and made it square myself...but didnt keep it long.
