Scrapbook Gift for Mother

I am in the process of two projects...

1) This summer I will be organizing all our family's pictures (which are all still in envelopes stuffed in boxes) into photo albums. They are all various sizes, and want to know if anyone has a suggestion how to organize them in albums when they're different sizes?

2) For the next two years I will be working on a scrapbook for my mom - the photos will start from when I was a baby and move all the way up to my graduation pictures. I will be graduating college in May 2013 and plan to give it to her for mother's day. I have been looking for a video/pictures of a complete scrapbook because I want to make sure all the elements tie together as one scrapbook. Are there any pictures/videos around I could see how one scrapbook comes together as a whole? Any recommendations for books I could get that would help me? Also any other general tips for this project would be welcome!

My book recommendation would be to check your local library. With books, some are so great, others are less great. So, borrowing them is the way to go.

One of the first scrapbooking books I read was Cathy Zielke's Clean and Simple Scrapbooking, it lays out the basics and also how to create a cohesive theme book.

the linked book is the sequel, but the review look really good.

One thing you can do to create a cohesive look is to use a single paper stack and its coordinating solids.

Orrr, use something like a Basic Grey paper pack..in the color combo you like to take you from newborn to college.

(a personal fave of mine is Two Scoops)(used it in dd's wedding party book)

As far as photo albums with different size photos, you could use a 3-ring album with these type of page protectors.
