uguly baby contest

now i know what i can do with the rest of my OWN baby pictures that I can't scrap with. This is an awful site. but so funny.

I cracked up when I saw this.
My son (now 18) was SO ugly when he was born... he looked like UNCLE FESTER.
Now (thank God) he is GORGEOUS!
But OH MY was he a sight...

see I don't have kids yet, but my hubby posed the question "what if we're one of those parents that have uguly kids and just don't know it"

WEll, now we have a club to send them too.. hehehehe

One my parents' *favorite* stories was that my baby picture was so ugly they couldn't send it out in the announcement. You know, that really wasn't very nice of them.

To each his own, but I personally think it is kind of a mean-spirited website.

My sweet mother, who is now gone, was always telling how her family said she was an ugly baby. It must have hurt her because she always talked about it. She was actually quite an attractive woman, but never really believed she was.

I thought that was too funny! I wasn't an ugly baby, but there are a couple of photos of me making a face that makes me look really hilarious. I should submit those.

I checked out the site briefly and personally I think a lot of those so-called "ugly" babies are adorable. I wonder what the judges look like.

I'm with the crowd that thinks a site like that is mean-spirited. I would never put my child's photo on display for the purpose of being laughed at.

I agree. But i'd put some of my own on there. i WAS ONE UGULY KID.

I don't think that a new mother should look at her kid and submit it. It is mean. All babies are cute. But it's still a funny site.

My son was born a few weeks early, so he was a little skinny, his nose was smashed to the side, and he looked like a naked under fed little bird. I thought he was the most beautiful thing ever! Of course now he is!

Huh. Is it just me or are some of those pics photo-shopped? I know no matter how "ugly" my baby I could never enter them in a contest like that.

I would like to think that *some* parents who participated in this didn't have any mean intentions in mind...maybe they just understand that not 100% of every moment is going to be "perfect" with our children...we're all human and we each have our "ugly" moments. That doesn't mean that we love our children any less. That's life...you accept those not-so-perfect moments and try to find the humor in it all. JMO...for what it's worth.

ya, i think some of them are "altered" a little.

I think it is hilarious. I love the one of the little girl who colored the babies face.

I love the funny baby pictures, some of them are hilarious. But how could a mother submit their own baby for an ugly contest?? The one that submitted their ex-wife's pic was kind of funny, but mean!!

That's my thought too. I mean, I can see joking privately with family or friends while looking at a photo album. But to post it on a public website for thousands of people to see? I just don't agree with that. Unless you're submitting a photo of yourself, it's just plain mean. Does the website ask for a signed release before posting the photo on the website?

i think by your act of submitting the photo is all they need as a release, if you didnt approve it, you wouldnt be submitting it.

I dont like the 'ugly babies' ones, some of them are cute! the funny ones where cute, i gasped when i saw the little one who colored the babies face and hands and feet!

a few were funny (like the cone shaped head well that happens at birth sometimes) but some were just mean spirited

I agree--most of those babies aren't ugly at all! And even though my son's hospital pic is terrible (he looked like he'd been in a fight) I wouldn't post it there. As for the funny baby pics--I loved the chinese take out one! LOL! Too cute! Those so called "ugly ducklings" will turn into princes and princesses someday!

I'm thinking more along the line of the guy who submitted his ex-wife's photo. Sure the guy approved it, but did his ex? Any Joe Schmo can submit anyone's photo if that's the case. What's to stop people from posting them just to be malicious? KWIM? Not to mention the poor kids who find out someday that their baby pic was posted on an Ugly Baby website. Nice.

I dunno...the FIRST baby pic (the one the hospital takes) is always so ...ugly looking. I can't explain it another way. I mean, they've got these kids staring into a bright light, on their backs...they haven't figure out what the heck they're even doing out the womb yet...and you start taking pictures.

I have see ONE first pic that actually was half cute. The baby was not on her back, they flipped her over, softened the lights, and took the pic that way. It was about as close to beautiful as a wrinkly newborn can get.

I have a child...and one on the way. Count me as one who does not think newborns are "beautiful". I loved that I finally had my baby in my arms...but I hoped the swelling purpleness would go down FAST.

I actually insisted on black & white photos...so the colors wouldn't be so graphic when they were developed. I feel like I made the right choice when I see some newborn photos.

here is an interesting story my mother-in-law told me- she works in medical records at the hospital, she has been there for years(35+)the doctors used to make a note in some of the charts for newborns, they would mark some FLK. guess what it stands for?...funny looking kid!! so when i had my first daughter and my husband called to tell his mom, the first thing she asked was, it is an FLK?

Right that is pretty much what I'm thinking, I can just about guarantee not all of those pictures were submitted by the parent. We all know people who've had babies and think they are the most beautiful babies in the world and we personally do not. I can picture that person whether its malice or just to be the jokester putting that babies picture on the site without the parents knowledge. Thats part of the problem with society today anyway and the hangups we have about looks, and despite what we say we ALL have them to some degree.

The funny pictures are hilarious some of them, just wish the site didn't have an "ugly baby" section.

A: That is fine.submitting your friends or family's baby pictures on the site will work just the same way. Remember its all in fun, we all need to laugh.


Solves that mystery...

I just looked at the first page of this site and i don't think these babies are ugly weither - just bad pics. LOL. But the cartoon of the baby with the bag over it's head really tweaked the memory.

Years ago I worked with a girl who had a very 'unfortunate' looking baby (don't want to say ugly, because even the not-so-pretty ones are still very precious). She wouldn't allow anyone to take photos of him, although I'm sure she did take them herself.

One day, when he was about 16 - 18 months old, her new boyfriend (he wasn't the bub's father), decided to surprize her and very thoughtfully had professional photo's taken of baby.

Well - didn't she hit the roof. She gave him such a blast about it, the poor guy. She never did show us the pics.

But by the time that child was 3 years old, he was gorgeous - a real cutie. So it goes to show that a bad start doesn't mean you're doomed to a life of paper bags. ROFL

It's pretty bad that the mom wouldn't even let there be baby pictures taken.


My biggest fear is that I'll end up one of those parents that has uguly kids and not know it.
