Best cardstock for cards?

I need to get some basic cardstock for my cards. I need the card part of the card ... what brand do you use? I bought some cardstock from the office supply and it's not very sturdy. What do you recommend?

I don't know of a name brand. But the craft stores like AC Moore sells cardstock paper basic white and it already has a fold in it for cards. That's what I use.

I use the basic pre-folded cards that come in packs from Micheal's. It's inexpensive and works quite well.

I second Valerie, that is what I use and just cover the front with pp.

I purchase most from The Angel Company / I like the textured stuff - bought some from Joanne's as well

DCWV has boxed cards that come in different colors, glitter, and other value packs that have the envelopes already. You can find these at Joann's, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby. These stores also have value packs of cards already folded with envelopes as well.

Hi Betsy,

As you have noticed not all cardstock is the same quality. It's either flimsy or has a white core. Neither are good for making the actual card. The cardstock that I have found to work best is from Stapin Up! They have every color imaginable and you can order online. Some of the girls on here sell Stampin Up and I am sure they would be happy to help you. Good luck in your quest!

I have to agree with Kristin Stampin' Up i sby far the best quality cardstock I have used. They also have the ink, ribbon, brads, etc. to match, just so you know:)

I really like to use AC cardstock. Plus, if you like the colors of the more flimsy one, make sure you added lots of layers inside and out, preferably with a glue stick and you will notice how thick they become! Hope this helps!

I use only SU cardstock for my cards and for scrapbooking, I have scrapbooked for over 10 years and it is by far the best quality cardstock of any that I have tried.

I heartily agree with the Stampin' Up! comments!

I really like that it doesn't have the white core...they color the paper pulp, they don't just "paint" the front and back of white paper.

And a large percentage of it is from recycled paper.

There are lots of good cardstocks out there. Papertrey Ink, Bazzil, Gina K Designs, Neenah, all are good ones for cardmaking. I use mostly Bazzil and Neenah (I haven't tried the others - just heard about them on other forums). I'll use Stampin Up coloured cardstock for bases once in a while. I wouldn't recommend the SU whisper white for card bases tho - its pretty flimsy.

Well some people use scrapbooking paper but I dont like useing it its not strong. Kaiser have pre packed cards and enveelopes which i like to use so i dont have to cut the card myself! the other day i bought some polka dot strong! card and its really affective and strong. They said that it was a new style out! and i am going back to get some more! but i forgot the brand.

I've used both SU! and Papertrey Ink and prefer the Papertrey Ink paper over the SU! paper.

I love Bazzill and some of the fun choices from PaperSource (scalloped circles, ovals, hearts, petal "envelopes", etc)

I use CTMH white cardstock for my base. It comes in packs of 100 and works perfect for me.

Thanks for the info i got here,I went and got me some pre-cut cards and envelopes I will never cut another card,i have found a new love.
