Disney Scrapbook

We're going on a multi-family Walt Disney World vacation in September. Grandma and Grandpa want to take all of the grandkids. I'm trying to be organized and would like to get ideas from anyone for a scrapbook I want to do of the trip for them.

I'm looking for any info you may have on great page layout ideas, particular Disney embellishments, ribbon, paper that was good or bad in layouts or any specific pictures I should take for a good page idea or anything else that you think may help me with a Disney scrapbook.

When I last went (which was five years ago) I wanted to take pics of each sign for each "land" (adventureland, fantasyland, tommorowland, frontierland, etc). Then I wanted to focus on my favorite highlights of each land. Thought each land would make a great lo!
Have so much fun. When I was in third grade, my whole family went (18 of us), all my aunts, uncles, cousins, grandma and grandpa. We are from WNY, so we were all wearing Buffalo Bills T-Shirts. We have the most memorable pic of the whole family in front of the castle with our shirts on!

Oh, the ideas are endless on here. I think there are even some challenges too. Godschild94 has some awesome LO's. I have been to DW twice and don't have pics of all the things I would of liked to. Like someone else mentioned do a search for anything disney on here and you will find more ideas than you could ever imagine. I like the idea of using other products other than Disney related things. Do a neighbor search for Godschild94. I really like hers. I also love Miracles_Mommas Disney pages. But, they are really more my style of scrapbooking. Oh, I think Scrappycath has some great ones too. She has Lo's where she has tiny hidden Mickey heads on the LO's and you have to find them... kind of fun!

If you are making books for each family, keep it simple. So much easier to duplicate for multiple families. As for pics to take, just keep snapping there is just so much to see out there!! It's wonderful. Have an amazing time!! I can't wait to see your pics and pages!!

Also check out somone who is brand new to scrapbooking and has created some AWESOME Disney pages: neighbor Silly Bees Chickadee. She pre-made pages before she went on her trip to Disneyworld. Now she is adding photos. So many talented scrappers around this neighborhood!!

My disney scrapbook from last summer is HUGE and not quite done. (Hate to admit that !)

I took pictures of us eating in the restaurant, but also a close up of the sign. (For example: inside the Sci Fi , then a Sci Fi sign) They turned out cute on those pages.

I saved bits of everything ! Maps, kids menus, napkins, straws, balloons, etc and added to the pages. I also saved the 'credit card' looking arcade passes and put on the page with pix of everyone playing games.

Do the passport kit at Epcot.....it's $10. In each kidcot station where you can make the masks & add ons, the worker will sign it in their own language, you add the appropriate stickers from the kit & move on. It looks great in our book with a travel/passport paper theme, etc

In several stores at Disney (Hollywood studios & downtown Disney especially) there is a lot of scrapbook stuff for sale. Albums, papers, kits, stickers, etc.

I'm not sure you're 'suppose' to....but I looked through layouts for sale on ebay to get ideas.

I'm currently working on my 2007 album in my gallery, so check it out.

Look for the characters! they are always a blast, but you will have to wait in line. Also, look for the employees in "picture spots" that take your photos. When we went in 2007, they not only took photos with their camera (and then give you a card you can use when you get home to see and order your photos online) they also took pics with OUR camera! I was finally in tons of photos because of this!

Also, just have fun! take pics, there's always something you will miss, but you will be having too much fun to notice! Remember to enjoy the parks not from behind the camera, too!

wish i was going back! i've been 4 times and it's still not enough!

We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Resort and I took pictures of the walls and the floor. There are lots of hidden mickey's on things at the resorts and my kids loved to look for all of them. So that was a memory I wanted to scrap for them. We just got back in June and I have not scrapped my pictures yet so I nothing to show you. If they want a special treat have them take the kids to Beaches and Cream and order the Kitchen sink. If you do not know what I am talking about google "The Kitchen Sink at Disney World" and you will see why it is a must do stop for the kids and the pictures are great.

I love the hidden Mickey idea! I went to Disney last year with my husband's family, and most of the vacation was spent looking for all the hidden Mickeys. I'm so excited to incorporate that into my album! This will be my first Disney album, I'm very excited. I even bought the scrapbook IN Disney! I just had to get through all my wedding scrapping, which is finally done. Thanks for the ideas everyone!

We just went to Magic Kingdom on my daughters' birthday. We were only there for a day. I went plannign to take pictures, but didn't take near as many or as many posed ones witn areas of the park as I had hoped, and by the time we were a few hours into the day, I just took pictures when it was convienient. It was just frustrating to me to fight crowds, wait for a good whot, make everyone top, pose.... I decided to spend the time wiht my family. I got some great pics still, and will scrap them though in a Disney album. Also, let the park cast members do photos for you as you come across them, then you can access them on the disney photoshare site.

Keep in mind that photo cd run $149.00 plus tax. I just bought one but it had over 101 pictures on it. Oh and I did take 1100 of my own pictures. We were there for 7 days though. Let's see thats is just over 150 pictures per day. Not bad but now I have to scrap them all.

I am in the process of scrapping our trip there in March. We spent some time downtown Disney going through some of the shops where my daughter had to try on all the hats-those are some of my favorite pics! I also kept all the brochures and stuff to cut pics out of. Since you can't really take pictures while on the rides this gave something to scrap and then journal.

Have to tell you a funny Disney story-We went to WWW on 2 diff. days. the first day, my dd, who is 17 wanted her pic. taken with Peter Pan. Which we did and he joked with her and tried to get her to crow with him but she wouldn't do it. Later, back @ the resort, my dh told dd to make a list of the things she wanted to do when we went back so we would have a game plan. She made her list and then decided that she wanted to find Peter Pan again and this time she was going to crow with him. She wrote it on her list and then since she is a bit of a Peter Pan nut, she put hearts next to his name. When we went the 2nd day, it was a different Peter but she wanted to do it anyway. While in line, she decided she wanted his autograph and the only paper we had was the one with her list of things to do. She folded it over and asked Peter andWendy if they could write small enough to get both signatures on the piece. peter took the paper, unfolded it and started looking at her list of things to do Wendy was looking over his shoulder and pointed out the hearts by his name. He asked dd if that meant she was in love w/him! She was rather embarassed and tried to explain but dh was nodding his head so Peter knew the truth! She asked him to crow with her but this one wasn't so sure but finally agreed but on the count of 3, neither of them crowed! Wendy decided they should have a contest so they each did it individually (although Peter made dd go first) and Wendy decided my dd won the contest. We now tease her about her boyfriend "Peter" IRL bf doesn't really care for this but we don't really like him anyway! lol

We are absolute Disney nuts in my family! Been a few times to WDW and DL, (we are DVC members). I've got several LO's in my gallery

Love the Peter Pan story!!!!

Pam, you are totally going to love Disney and scrapping it too! I think Disney is my absolute favorite thing to scrap...it is so much fun!

My suggestions are...

1. Do the Disney Photo Pass. The photos that these photographers take are amazing. What you do is have your picture taken and they store the images on a card that you carry around with you. Every time you take a new photo they add it to your account. They have photographers everywhere and now with a lot of the characters too. Each place will give you 3-4 different shots. Take as many of these as you can. Then when you go home, go to the website and order the Photo CD. It's kinda pricey (around $100) but totally worth it. They give you all the photos and the rights to them so you can get them printed anywhere. Considering it's about $10 for 1 5x7 this is a great deal, especially if you get lots of photos.

2. When you do the photopass, ask if they have "magic photos". These are really fun because the photographers will set you up so that when you get your picture a "surprise" will be there...maybe Tinkerbell standing in your hand, maybe you holding balloons...they are awesome!

3. Check out the scrapbooking sections in the major stores. There is also one store in Downtown Disney that is all scrapbooking and stationary. Look for fun paper and stickers that you can use. Also look around at other things that aren't necessarily scrapbooking. I found really cool patches that I used on my scrapbooking as accents too. There are also really cool products that you can buy here and at your local scrapbook and hobby stores that are Disney themed. EK Success is one of my favorite brands for embellishments and albums. Their stuff is so cute!

4. Don't forget to get in on the photos too. Take detail shots and on rides if you can too. The more different types of pictures you take, the more variety you will have to scrap when you get back. Also check other people's galleries and take notes of what kinds of pictures you like.

5. If you can, book character meals. They are a bit on the pricey side but they are definately worth it for one on one time with the characters and the bonus is that they come to you while you eat instead of you waiting in line to see them. My favorites include the Ohana breakfast at the Polynesian, Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, Dinner with Pooh and Friends at the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom, and Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle. These give you a ton of characters and it is really fun too!

what a cute peter story! when i was on my cruise, i met peter and wendy also. peter asked me where i was from and i told him a small town south of buffalo, ny and that i lived on an indian reservation. well, he got so excited that i lived on the reservation and said he had a lot of indian friends. he asked if he could come visit me and his "friends" some time! i just love how the characters are so in character!

I made these for my kids to have autographs and then when we came home, they put the album together with me and the photos I took with them and the characters...

wendy-that is adorable!

Oh I was just organizing our pictures and remembered after seeing the pictures what a great time the kids had at the "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" Movie Set Adventure. They had such a great time I hated to have to pull them away from it and what great pictures. It is at the Disney Hollywood Studio. I was not sure if your kids would be going to that park but wanted to mention it just incase.

We went there when I was in 4th grade and my mom made me a collage that had pictures of me and all the characters, as well as their autographs...maybe someday I will make a scrapbook of all the pictures...theres a ton!

We have been to 3 different Disneys in the past 4 summers. I have 2 albums (one for each kiddo) for each vacation. That made for almost 200 pages of Mouse fun. I would highly recommend that you have some Disney paper and embellishments (The Cricut cartridges almost burned out). I would also have other pages of paper you love. Looking back at my albums, I like the non-Disney paper the best. The water pages are great. The Snorkel line would be awesome for Disney water pages. The funniest pictures I have of the kids are when they were exhausted and ready for meltdown. Now they are roller coaster pros (note my posting pic) and I buy at least one at the counter since you can get the rights to those photos on line. You might also want to do a full day time line full of pics to run off wallet sized. I took enough pictures to have a layout of all the flowers, topiaries, etc. I also made an 8 by 8 album for myself of all three trips to show them grow from sweet 9 and 11 year olds to snarky 12 and 14 year olds . Whatever you do take a good camera. My Canon Rebel has been on every roller coaster Disney has to offer. Candids of the kids on the rides are priceless too.

Had another thought. If you are doing books for any other family members you can't go wrong with the 6 by 12 acrylic/chipboard album by Little Yellow Bicycle. It only needs about 7-9 pieces of paper with stickers/embellishments to match. The album took me about 2 hours to make. Doing multiples for family members would make a great Christmas gift if you need one. Each album could have different photos depending on the person getting the album. Just know you want to take horizontal photos or run your verical pics off as wallets.
