I can downloaded fonts, but how do I INSTALL THEM?!??

I went to dafont.com and they have directions on how to download fonts, but I can't USE them! How do I get them into my microsoft word list of fonts or get them so they are usable and installed on my computer. HELP! I am so frustrated!

You need a program such as winzip in order to unzip the font you've downloaded, then you can drag the unzipped font(file with the T on it) into your font file in your control panel. Just remember to keep your unzipped fonts under 100 to keep your computer running optimally. Your computer can possibly hold up to 800-900 depending on memory but there will be delays.

I have found that dafonts is the easiest site for downloading fonts (I am very computer challenged). These are the steps I take:
1) Choose a font and click on the download icon.
2) Copy to my fonts folder by typing c:\Windows\Fonts
This will put your fonts right in with the fonts that came on your computer rather than keeping them in a separate place. It takes a few minutes for each font to download and appear on your fonts list, so give it a little time. Then all you have to do to access your fonts is to go to "Word processing" and click on fonts, and there they are! Hope this helps!

It is not recommended by computer techs to download fonts off of the internet no matter WHERE from (especially MACs, they get the worst of it). It can ruin programs on your HD that you don't even know about and you won't realise until one day you have a problem useing some program. I downloaded 1 single font out of 5 that forced me to wipe out of my laptop's HD. I was not happy. The best, safest thing to do is to actually buy your fonts.

You could also download The Font Thing which is a free program which allows you to keeps your downloaded fonts seperate and view them and then temporarily install them as you want them. Sounds complicated, but really very simple.
