  • MommaSaid

  • Jordannichole
KWIM is my fave! it means: know what i mean!
  • LPinto
Yikes! Does anyone write anything out in full anymore? !!!! When I watch my kids always texting and abbreviating, it's a wonder how they don't slip up in their schoolwork when writing an essay and accidentally slip one of those abbreviations in here and there! Abbreviations have become thier "common language" now.
  • Scraprabbit
They DO! I get emails from my students with text-speak and they occasionally write things on their papers with text-speak. It's SO annoying!
  • Scrappy Nan
does anyone use of all those?!?!?!! i taught a class recently with pages titles of LOL, KWIM and BTW and NO ONE knew what they meant! here i thought i was so hip! my teenage DD thinks i'm a dork! ROTFLMAO!!
  • Kayla Brooke
wow i just read what all those abbreviations are for and i really dont think i can ever remember all of those
  • Mulan05
Speaking of acronyms...I thought I'd share a funny story.

After I showed my mom how to text from her cell, she thought she'd try out a bunch of acronyms in the messages she sent me. I don't know where she found the ones she used, but it seemed like she googled "obscure acronyms for texting" cause I didn't know any of them.

Then when I sent her back a "huh?" she called me and told me to get with the lingo. Was sooo cute

Yeah there's no way I can remember all those.
  • Chell Rae
Wow, thank you for the list. I knew some of them but not all.

Bwaa-ha-haaaa!!! I didn't read that. I always thought PIMP stood for something else.
  • CarrieBH
    • Chell Rae Said:
Wow, thank you for the list. I knew some of them but not all.

I don't think I'm going to be able to learn all of those, LOL!

  • ChansGram
here's a new one my DD told me- SLAP = sounds like a plan.
  • Jill
Scrappy Nan. I'm ROFL...about the class not getting the importance of what you were doing:)

I once taught a class on doing layouts of your astrological sign. I spent hours on the samples and left the handout to the last minute. I googled astrological signs and picked one that looked good with a brief "skimming." I cut and pasted the information into the handout and ran out the door to get it copied and get to class. BIG mistake. One of the students raised her hand just as we started and asked if I'd READ the information I'd included. I told her no and she burst out laughing...of course EVERY student grabbed the handout to see what was so funny. The room erupted. They laughed at me for being so embarrassed and I in turn laughed at how hard they were laughing.

The information was the most negative predictions you could possible think of...bordering on obscene...well, they WERE obscene to be honest.

I finally got class back on track but there were chuckles and outbursts for the rest of the evening.

I'll never (hopefully) do that again:O)
  • Shutterbugg
My boss taught me a new one today...

SWAG : Silly Wild A__ Guess

He said they use to use and practice this one often until they got a marketing person (me) who knew what they were doing.
