Card sizes

What is your standard card size? Currently (I've only made 3 so far), I've just cut 8.5 x 11 in half to use - either vertically or horizontally. But I was pondering my Cutterpede, which has the 6" easy cut mark for card making. Is 6" a normal size?

I use several sizes. The largest is 5X7, then 61/2 by 41/2 and smaller. I frequently buy just envelopes so, I match my card to the sz. envelope I have available. Jan

Make sure you take postage into consideration, some sizes are much more expensive to send! I really like the look of 6" square cards, but rarely make them when I'm sending them through the mail.
I usually buy sets of envelops and cards when they're half off, I find it cheaper than using my own cardstock and it takes less time too because you know the card base will fit the envelope. I get sets of 50 cards/envelopes for about $5.

For the 4.25 x 5.5, the A2 envelopes would work, right? They are 5.74 x 4.375...

A six inch square card will cost you more money to send. Some people just put it in a larger standard envelope then send it.

Invitation sized envelopes fit the card size you describe. You can get these in bulk at the office shops in white.

I have seen them at WMart from time to time (white also). I have also gotten a box of colorful ones at the local drug store. Both were under $5 for about 40 or 50.

I use alot of business size envelopes, they are inexpensive to buy at alot of stores, and make an unusual size card (7 1/2 x 9 1/4) but it's different. Plus it still only costs 44 cents in the US. I like to decorate my envelopes sometimes too. Acrylic paint works well for that, and stamping.

Sorry---That is the size of the cardstock piece needed to make the card, I fold the 9" sides together to fit a business size envelope.

You can usually find different sets of white, cream and kraft at HL and I've gotten sets at Walmart as well for around $5 when they go on sale.

No HL around here and I won't set foot in a WalMart (I loathe the store and their business practices, so I simply don't give them my business.) I do get coupons for Mike's, Jo's and ACM all the time, so I'll have to check out their selection. I am so appreciative of this tip!! Can't wait to get out there and scope it out!

I also stick with the 4.25 x 5.5 size. I buy my envelopes in bulk at office supply stores. This works for me and I don't have to hunt for envelopes to fit different sized cards!

You can make your own envelopes for odd size cards too, then it does not matter what size card you make. It's not that hard to do and it's fun sometimes to make a different size card to stand out to the person who gets it. I believe different is good!
