Bic Mark-Its?

Does anyone use these? Are they good? Are they blendable? Do you use them to color the stamp, or the stamped image?

I *think* they are more like sharpie markers, except acid free. I don't think you can blend them or color a stamp then stamp (although you could stamp then color). Again...I think!

I think this is what I have at home and I like to use mine for the little tiny bit of coloring I do...the colors are very nice and vibrant.

Q. How to blend Permanent Markers.
A. BIC Mark-Itâ„¢ Permanent Markers can be blended, lightened and diluted using a product called an alcohol blending solution. Alcohol blending solutions come in bottles with a precision tip that can either be dropped directly onto surfaces decorated with BIC Mark-Itâ„¢ Permanent Markers, or dabbed/rubbed over the colors using a piece of felt. This method creates a lighter blended look, while dripping the product directly creates a more diluted look.

To blend BIC Mark-Itâ„¢ Permanent markers, first decorate any surface that the markers work on such as glass, metal, plastic, foils and coated paper. Once your design is finished, decide what kind of look you want for your design, and either drip the alcohol blending solution directly onto the surface, or dab/rub it on with some felt. Let it dry to reveal your blended masterpiece!

Please note that blending is challenging for a first time user. Should you decide to use an alcohol blending solution, please be sure to follow the directions and heed any warnings provided by the manufacturer.

You can blend Bic Mark Its or Sharpie markers. You can follow any copic tutorial for blending and you will achieve practically the same effect. The blending pen/solution is a misnomer. The blending solution actually removes colour or pushes the colour away - it doesn't actually help in blending two colours together.

Here are two cards I made using Bic Mark Its and Sharpies for colouring. They're not the best colouring jobs (I did these when I was first starting to colour with markers), but they do show that blending can be achieved with the Bic and Sharpie markers.

Where do you get the Bic Mark-its? Do they come in packs of different colors or are they only sold individually?

I use em' much more afforable than copics and I once saw a comparision to copics and you couldnt really tell the difference.
They are available at walmart and staples and such and they come in various size packages with different color families

do you recommend any particular "family" of colors? what do they typically cost?

oh no recommendations thats really a your taste kinda thing....ie)pastel vrs brights what would YOU use.....in canada I do belive a 6?pk is around $8 I believe they come in 6 10or 12 and 24pk done quote me on that tho!! at walmart been awhile since I purchased them. I can not comment on how long they last as my kiddos found them but they still worked great when they did. I have to get more.

I got mine at Staples, I have seen other people here say they are 19.99 for the 36 pack. They were 22.99 at my local one but they were buy 1 get one free recently so my mom and I both got a set. Also if you become a fan on facebook you can get a $2 off coupon.

love my two sets. the utlra fine are about a .7 so there a little more chunky then say a .5 marker. but their nice and i can give up to slightly larger writing for the price. and the colors are awsome. their alcohol ink so im figuring any kinda blender with work for blending. i just haven't gotten that far in my playing but their awsome for journaling and doodling ... the big set has alot of colors and they match pretty easily to my scrapbook stuffs

I'm gonna go against the grain here,,,,

I have them, and i find blending a HUGE issue,,,,not NEARLY as easy as with the copics,,,,to blend, you need 2-3 colors close, but not too close,,,,,,good luck doing that with Bics,,,

i know some people achieve a decent look, but I find it VERY difficult.

They are GREAT for coloring bling and pearls though,,,I buy plain clear colored bling and color them any color I want, and i buy only white pearls in a large bunch and color them any color I want,,,,,

but for blending,,,,,,,eh,,,not impressed.

I'm leaning more toward Holly about blending. It's a lot harder with Bics than it is with Copics. And with Copics you can blend different colors together, but when I tried that with Bics I just got a mess - definitely not a smooth shading.

They are great though for the other tasks of alcohol markers.

Hmmm, I will have to do some experimentation with Blending solution and the Mark its. I have never thought to do that! I have a pen with blending solution in it I think.....hmmmm.....ideas.....

Uh oh. Just bought the 36 pack off evilbay for a good price and now I'm wondering if I did the right thing. I've got a copic blender pen so I'll just have to experiment and see about the blending. I'm coloring-challenged anyway, so this should be an interesting experiment.

No money wasted! I use my Mark Its A LOT for journaling, doodling etc....

I agree,,,I bought a 36 pack for 20 bucks at Staples, and I DEFINATELY use them tons,,,

just not for blending I have successfully blended SOME colors that they have colors close to eachother in the set,,,,it's just not as easy as with copics, and I don't have the patience for it when I KNOW the copics blend so much better.

I didn't know they were acid free!

That's amazing, 'cause they are def. cheaper than anything else out there!
