Scan Old Photos to Print

I have boxes of photos that I would like to scrapbook however I don't want to use the old photos. "Old" as in non digital so no way to get the original back.

Is there an app that you use? Do you use scanner/printer? What works best to closely duplicate the quality of the photo and not make it look like I took a picture of a picture?

I've tried one app (PhotoScan) and you can see all the noise in the photos

I use my HP 3-in-1 which has scanner, printer and fax and I always scan at 600 dpi. I'm happy with the results.

I have scanned stacks and stacks of old photos to scrap.

I use an Epson scanner to scan old photos and slides. I took a digital photography class several years ago and the instructor said a scanner with digital ICE was the best. Digital ICE reduces dust and scratches from the photos.
