What do YOU do first??

I pick out paper, place pictures, place paper, embellish.

I pick out my pictures first, then I find paper that would go great with it along with the embellishments and then go from there take ideas out of mags and such!!

I do the background first.

I try to position my pictures... with an idea of how i want the backgroud to be... I guess I kinda work on them both at the same time.

I start with the photos and match the paper then start cropping and moving, get a title idea then tack them down then add the journaling - usually by computer now cause you can match the font to the style and fit your space EXACTLY and even your color. I found though I would take too long to complete a page this way, though and many weren't getting completed cause I'd just get board of them a few days later. So this past week and a half, I picked photos and paper one day for 10 different pages (3 2 page spreads and 4 singles). Then the next day I cropped and played and started to lay some down. Then the next 2 days I did the embellishments and then did the journaling. So at the end of the week, I have 6 pages 100% done and the other 4 about 80% done. I didn't think this jumping around would work, but I found I was only pulling out the papers one day and certain tools and embellishments another day and at the computer another day and I think It was more productive.
OK This is about 3 big run on sentences!!! But I find when you're Mom and you only get an hour or 2 a night, this was very productive for me.
Does this make sense to anyone else?
Does anyone else get bored 2 hours into a page and then you don't look at it for weeks?!!?

I know what you mean about being a Mom...with me it is either shave both legs in one day...or shave one today and scrap a page....

I start from the "ground" up. I found its alot easier for me to chose the cardstock (and PP if I'm using it) and possible embellishments first. Once I have a "theme" going, I find a spot for my pictures, ribbon, eyelets and other fun stuff.

I got bored like that once and havnt looked at the LO's (for my Disney vacation book) for 2 years! I finally managed to pop out a LO, but its not the best.

I usually pick my paper, place my photos, do my journaling, titles, and then finish with embellishments to fill up any empty spots on the page.

I usually match my photo to cardstock and/or patterened papers and then go from there. I try to have everything out I will need for the lo right away

I spread MANY different papers out, til I see what goes with my pics. Then I do the same with some cardstock, start matting/arranging the pics...unless I've bought embellishments specifically for a page, I pick them last.

I do tend to do titles first, 'cause I'm becoming a huge fan of foam stamps, and if I use them with paint I want to give it time to dry.......

I pick pictures first, then pick 3 different patterned papers that might go and 2 different card stock colors. Then I pick out embellishments. THEN I choose which cardstock color works with everything and which pp I want to use. Then i put the page together with pics first and add pp behind as needed etc.. and then the embellishments. I stack all my layouts in a stack by the computer and when I have 20 or so stacked there I will sit down and do the journaling... titles... etc.. I can do all the journaling when the kids are asleep and don't have to worry about any interruptions since journlaing for me requires a big segment of time. Not lots of broken up blocks of time!

Well, I usually pick which pix I want to scrap at that moment then build my page around those photos, changing things until I like the final look, then tack it all down. However, there are times when I see paper or have a kit of complementing things that I see and think of a picture or set of pix that would be perfect on the paper.

I plan my pictures first, then find paper to match (color and/or theme). Then I place my pictures, crop and mat them. Then add the title and embellishments. Normally I do a double page spread at a time from beginning to end--love to have that feeling of accomplishment. Sometimes I even end up w/a quick trip to the LSS for an eyelet, paper, etc., just to finish a lo.

More often than not, I have the pictures picked out long before I have a lo in my head. I have been making cards and mini books lately, so haven't been actually making lo's. I have two pictures ready for one lo and have the paper picked as well. Now, just need to sit down and do it.

I guess I go wtih pictures, paper and organize the photos without sticking them down or cropping them until I am for sure how they are to go on the pagel
