Hidden journal.....

Hi everybody....I would just like to know everybody's hints on hidden journals...I know there are so many different ways of doing it....can you tell me yours??

for my hidden journals....so far I have used a tag behind the picture with fibers and ribbon as the pull out.....I have also used an envelope.....I like hidden journaling because sometimes some things are very personal......

I do almost 100% hidden journaling.

You can...

put hinges on a photo -- flip up, journaling is underneath.

use tags

put a slider behind a photo (like my Tower of London LO)

put multiple things behind one photo (I'm working on that now)

incorporate it into a design element (the DIY network has some examples on their site... just go and search under "hidden journaling")

put it directly on the back of a top loading page.

put it on the back of tags held on by fibers

put it in a pocket page that has other stuff in it, but stuck right down at the
bottom

use a tiny booklet of paper mounted underneath any page element

cut it into bits and then put in a shaker box

make two tags, one decorative and one w/ journaling printed on it, attach them with a brad or eyelet, and adhere to the page. The top tag can be moved aside to read the journaling underneath.

incorporate a mini envelope to hold your hidden elements

make a tag booklet and adhere the whole booklet to the page. Hold the booklet together with fibers or ribbons thru the hole at the top of the tag.

add what amounts to a gate-fold card to the page. Close it with twine, ribbon, or fiber. decorate at will.

There's a few suggestions. What can the rest of y'all come up with?

WOW! What an amazing list of ideas. I am just starting to use hidden journalling and I love the ideas.

One question, though, when you put a tag behind a photo with ribbon to pull it out, how do you prevent the tag from falling askew? Like if the photo and tag are horizontal, what makes the tag stay parallel to the photo (or not slip out the bottom edge?)

If I am doing hidden journaling on a tag embellished with STUFF, that is to slide underneath a photo - I use the foam squares to mount my photo so there is height to slide it under. I also place the foam so it is a guide/runner for my tag to follow underneath - so it is positioned where I want it to. Hope this makes sense.

When I dd hidden journaling that was horizontal, I put in a strip of paper vertically so you could put the tag into and have it stay straight. If you do the two tags, one with journaling and one with decorations, you can attach them with a brad and then you can see your journaling when you want to.

Oh, and I have done some of the things Lynn has done. I have added an 8.5x11 page protector behind a lo once with a page full of journaling as the story was one I want to remember, but not have to read about each time I look at the lo. I have hidden a tag behind the left strip of patterned paper.
