Altered Matchbooks

I saw an altered matchbook in this month's, or last month's, issue of Paperkutz. The supply list just says Bazzil and envelopes. How do you make one? I've seen some matchbooks for sale on sites that have plastic photo sleeves like a wallet. Do you have to buy a matchbook and then alter it? I can't find anything online.

I saw this on DIY this morning. They took the matches out and then decorated it. So Im pretty sure you have to buy them that way .hmm

Are you talking about real match books??? Never heard of such a thing.

I saw that DIY show too! Check out their website - they've got instructions there under Scrapbooking.

Carol Duvall had a show where they made matchboxes out of cardstock. That's on hgtv dot com.

I found the instructions for the project I was thinking of. It's called "book in a box" and they made a matchbox out of thin cardboard and a small book out of a sheet of paper. But I'm not sure this is what you are looking for.

Here is the one I did a while ago.

I covered the matchbox with patterned paper, traced the edges with gold krylon, stamped and colored the girls, cut out a vellum quote and traced it with gold krylon, and added a ribbon accent.

I was at my local LSS today and they had premade matchbooks from Bazzill paper in different colors. Also a company(can't remember the name) sells them already decorated and paper inside for hidden journaling!! It came as 2 to a set and they were very cute-in the beach section. I went to Michaels right after that and purchased 3 matchboxes (white and ready to decorate) for $1.00!! I like the books and boxes, they are a new favorite for me. The boxes are great for holding little souveniors or other small things you want to remember in your scrapbook. Amanda

Here's an altered and embellished matchbook I made into a Mother's day card for my MIL. The package contained 2 matchbooks, can't remember the name of the company that makes them, I picked them up at my LSS.

This was so much fun to make, I am going to do more, but make mini albums.. I'll use the other book to make my own template!

Ok, clarrify something for me, are they the size of actual matchbooks? Or are they bigger and just look like matchbooks?

very cute ideas.. I think you could make one yourself.. just get a MATCHBOOK AND COPY IT..

The one I made is about 3 X 4.. if you make your own, you can do it whatever size you want.. good idea about the copy of a match book, you could blow up the copy to the size you want...
