stooopid question about heat embossing

I would like to try the powders...do I Have to buy a heat gun?? Is there ANY WAY around it?? I am soooo poor....

Yes a heat gun is needed - a blow dryer will not work. It will only blow the powder off of the page. I have read posts where people have held the paper over their toaster or stove. I haven't tried that technique so I can't comment.

Yes, you can use a toaster or even an iron. Just be careful not to burn yourself! Just hold the paper above the heat, moving it around, so the powder melts evenly.

I use tweezers and hold it over my electric stove element. I wouldn't try it on a gas one. I found that worked better than a toaster because the toaster kept popping up before the stuff was melted.

I use my toaster as well. I just turn it up to the hottest setting, just be sure to pop it up when your done. I forgot once and the whole house smelled like burnt toast.

stove, toaster, etc. works fine, but be careful with the heat! it melts the powder very quickly... sometimes to quickly. I have done embossing this way first, but I ordered a heat gun pretty soon because it's just so much nicer and easier. You can find great deals on ebay!!!

does hubby or dad have a heat gun (a common staple for a garage guy)? This is actually what they used before "embossing guns" were out their. I have seen embossing guns for under 10 bucks well worth it. although the toaster may work save a few bucks and get a embossing gun so you don't burn the house down.

My embossing gun is a tool made for shrinking shrink tubing (for electrical splices).

I agree, a heat gun is well worth it if you think you'll enjoy heat embossing. I got mine within a few days of trying it.
