How do you color your stamped/embossed motives?

i'm really into stamping and embossing now, but i haven't colored my motives yet. i just wondered what kind of supplies and techniques you use... anything would help! thanks!

I've used water-colored pencil crayons. I've also heard you can use chalk, but that's harder to get into small areas.

I've tried chalk once, (the raining frog card, not sure if you can see it though) and I've seen pencils as well. (there is some in my LSS, we can check it out when you come)
