Definitions for tags

Where do you get your definitions for tags? I've gone to dictionary.com and when I copy and paste the pronunciation part doesn't copy the unusual letters/symbols! Is there a way to do this from another site or do I need to change my PC settings?

Isn't that a pain? The reason the symbols don't get copied with copy and paste is that they're there as an image, not a font, and the normal letters are in a font. You COULD make it work by copying the word and each symbol picture separately. I just type the word though, and don't use the pronunciation part of the definition. I have looked and looked for a dictionary font and can't find one.

I know it costs, but that's why I end up buying the transparency definitions. They are so cute.

Everytime I copy from dictionary.com, it works just fine. I copy and past the whole thing and then delete the word "pronunciation" and all the diacritical marks are there along with the upside down "e"s. I don't know why it works for me, but it can be done.

I doubt there is a dictionary font - but if you put them into word can't you just insert the correct symbols? but i guess it depends what program you're using..

ahtmom, are you using a method that copies the page as an image, or text? I'm curious, because I haven't been able to get it to work using the copy and paste shortcuts.

Pearl2006, I know some fonts have some of the extra symbols, but I haven't had one yet that has all of them.

I'll have to try those ideas! Microsoft was too cheap to put WORD on our PC, it has Works:(

I select the whole image, then right click on my mouse to copy....sometimes it works better then using the "edit" button at the top of the screen.

I just copy and paste into a wod document and it shows up. I don't DO anything. I think Word does it for me. So no, I am not copying an image, I am copying text. But I'd tried it copying it as an image, and that worked fine too. A little more effort, but it worked fine.

Hmmm... maybe it IS something just in word. I've tried Notepad, Wordpad, and Star Office, but don't have Word. The website you've used is dictionarydotcom, right?

you could also to a screenshot and then cut/copy/paste from that.

you can copy and then go under edit to "paste special" (not the regular paste) and then choose to have it paste as a picture. the whole thing (regular and irregular letters) should be there.

you can also use the alt codes that may or may not include all of the right *dictionary* type letters - one page that has some listed is http://www.lissaexplains.com/fun2.shtml

I have done this only once to make my own transparency and it worked fine. I just deleted the pronounciation key as well.
