NEW SCRAPROOM! DITCHING MICHAEL'S CUBES

I have spent a fortune on every Michael's Recollection cube available and have done an entire room in them................the problem is I really dislike them and am going to stick them on craigslist to just get rid of them. They're not sturdy, did not go together well (will admit that could be due to the "handyman" ME!) So I'm going to use the expedit shelving with some custom storage and a granite counter top.............more $$$. Haven't figured out a work space thought..........if anyone has any thoughts, please let me know...............I'm not married, so no built-in handyman..........and this time I'll pay someone to assemble everything professionally. I'm a little OCD on my scrapbooking room and love everything white..........clean and visible.......so lots of glass jars........any ideas on where to find some unusual large ones........I like everything in sight so that I will use it and not forget about it.

One more project and then I can start to scrap again. Not much into cards and that seems to be where everyone is heading...........so I may need to take a class and hopefully change my mind.

Large jars, a few thoughts.
1-Wide mouth Bell Mason Jars. I love mine for ribbons and the wide mouths make it easier to reach in. Plus they come in various sizes (Then they'd match. I too have "particulars" hehe )
2-The Container Store
3-Bed Bath & Beyond (I'm thinking countertop flour/sugar canisters.
4-The obvious garage sale, Goodwill, Antique Shops. 5-Tuesday Morning, TJMaxx.
I know I've seen them so many other places but the brain has already checked out tonight.

I got white cabinets at Ikea and I love them. Some have shelves, but most are drawers and they have lots of configurations. They also sell countertops there and they were much less expensive than anywhere else I'd found. I didn't get granite because I didn't want to have to worry about it too much (sealing, using proper cleaners, etc).

I started by drawing mine out to get a rough idea of how I wanted the room to be set up. Then I used an online room planner to flush out the details like dimensions.

Look online for kitchen planning tools. Ikea has one and I think hgtv has one too on their site. They will allow you to enter the dimensions of your room and plan out how much counter space you need, how many shelves, etc.

Thank you for the thoughts on jars. I do like the wide mouth jars for open spools of ribbons......need to reach in and I love the ability to see what's inside............thank's for the ideas on where to go.....I always head to Ikea the Container Store (which tends to be expensive) or the usual Hobby Lobby, Michaels etc. Forget about TJMaxx and Tuesday Morning and have never done the garage sale, just because lack of patience.........I may have found a whole new me!

Thanks for the ideas............I love, love love, drawers......especially those with glass doors so that you can see in.............I know that Ikea has some that go with there Expedit series, but haven't made the run out to really research....just am so tired of the bad look of the Michaels..............and I will admit to my lack of ability with a electric screwdriver.......just want something a little more stable! I thought of you last night. I was walking through the kitchen storage area at Walmart (bc I was there to find a new bin for my embossing folders! lol)and they had these giant gorgeous glass containers. The biggest one was like 3 gallon size. Beautiful. They had at least a dozen styles in varying sizes-many quite sizeable.

Now that is a true friend............or another person struck with OCD of the scrapping nature!!!

I'll try Wal-Mart...........and go early enough while I will have the strength (mental) to get through it...........but once again, anything for my scrapping room...........as the rest of the house falls apart.................first things first around here!!!!!

Thank you for the thought...............That could be a great career.........professional scraproom designer.............since I don't sew, or don't do much with other paper crafts.......my theory is; if my room looks good, my LO will look much better.

Like when I took up tennis........if I had a cute outfit, I'd be a better player!!! (being younger also helped A LOT!)

I avoid it like the plague, but I was trying to avoid going out of the way to Container Store where I knew I would overspend. I found nothing at Walmart and left with a puzzle for DS and a new hairbrush and hair ties for myself. LOL
