Purple Cows 2 in 1 trimmer

Hi ladies, if there was anyone who could help me it would be you...

I just recently bought a Purple Cows 2 in 1 trimmer and I am having some difficulties with lining things up and cutting straight. The rotary side is the hardest to line up especially with smaller papers as it seems the only ruler guide is in the center of the cutter. also if I lay the paper against the side, it cuts a little crooked. Also it seems to take a lot of pressure to slide the mechanism to make it cut.

the guillotine side is much easier to use, and cuts better, but still get a crooked cut if lining the paper up against the side...

Any tips??

I am having the same problem with the Purple Cows laminator and trimmer! I cannot get a straight cut to save my life. I tried emailing the company to ask for suggestions and did not get a reply at all (not even a "we'll look into it."). That bums me out, because I hate poor customer service.

Ladies are you pushing the clamps down on the rottery cuter side...place paper in push both purple pads down it locks the slider bar and then mine just glides over...if I forget to push those down then it is hard to push. As for straight cuts I have been so please with mine cutting very straight. Lineing it up with the side I am assuming you mean the top and bottom...it the liner on yours bent or out of sorts?

Thanks, Tina. Mine's not rotary; I have the guillotine type. I try to make sure the paper is lined up but there doesn't appear to be any "lip" for the paper to catch on at the top or bottom. Therefore, you can't just butt the paper up against a lip, which helps ensure straightness, too. Plus, you can't see where the blade is going to cut on it, which makes it very difficult. I actually like my Fiskars and Creative Memories trimmers much better for that reason. I am very disappointed that no one at the Purple Cows company bothered to email me back. I don't tend to buy another product from a company after an episode of poor customer service. It's been almost three weeks since I contacted them.

Can you tell I am irritated? Anyway, I appreciate your reply, Tina. Thanks for trying to help me. Hopefully, your advice about the rotary stuff will alleviate hiscrappergirl's problem with her cutter.

Ohhh sorry siameseplease, I was looking at the product from the original post " Purple Cows Incorporated - Two In One Combo Trimmer - Paper Trimmer" This is the one I have. hiscrappergirl
was talking about how hard the rottery is so I think maybe the two clips are not being pushed down and on mine the 2 in 1 I had to return my first because the shiny metal surface was kinked at the top so it interfered with the paper. You cutter I have not used sorry.

nope, doesn't seem to have any kinks or anything like that to interfere with the straight cuts, and I am locking down the slider bar...Probably beginner user error though, I am going to keep working with it. I have a MM trimmer, and was less than pleased with it... Love the guillotine side though of the Purple Cows one...
