August Mixed Media Challenge

Intro:

If you love working with mixed media, you're in the right place! Not sure what mixed media is? Well simply put, its the use of art mediums to add texture, dimension and interest to your projects. It's one of those no rules categories so you can have lots of fun making a beautiful mess or create your finest masterpiece! So, grab your favorite mediums and lets have some fun! ~ Dawna

Prize:

At the end of the month, if there 6 or more players, there will be a random drawing chosen at Random.org and one lucky winner will receive a $10.00 SB Gift Certificate! Good luck everyone!

This is my first LO for this month. I mixed lots of Nuvo drops to coordinate with my pp. I currently have a Nuvo drop addiction going.

Tina what a beautiful photo of you and your daughter! And you scrapped it beautiful too! Love Nuvo drops they add so much shimmer to your work. Well done Tina!

Here is the other one that I got done today. I think the cut files are just awesome, I had fun painting them with Nuvo glitter.

Tina, this is absolutely amazing!!!!!! Those waves are totally jaw-dropping.

That one is cool also!! Love the colors and the title letters!

I had to start a second Treasures Journal since the first one is too full to add anymore. I still need to put some finishing touches on the first one but I am running things through my mind of what I want to do with it!

This one is smaller in size. It is a very sturdy chipboard album Darlene gave me so I thought I would put it to use for another journal! I don't know how many I will end up with since I have a tub full of treasures from my scrapping friends! I used Glossy Accents, prills, stamping, inking, embossing powder, Stickles, beads, pearls, etc.

Beautifully designed; love all of the details, esp. the bike and tags. Most of all, I'm so in love with those microbead flowers.

Thank you, Peggy! I love those mini prills that Carri sent to me a year or two ago! They have gone a long way! I have used them on many projects although I am getting low on them now!

Here is a mixed media layout, background was created with Lindy's sprays, some modeling paste and a stamp.

That background is just amazing!!!!! Love the photo & journaling, too.

Hi everyone, really hoping to get something done this month. Today I worked with some tropical molds using some Paperclay modeling material, that was the easy part, now I have to get them painted and onto a layout or canvas...wish me luck LOL.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thanks ladies, my molds came out great but some of the leaves didn't dry flat and now I'm afraid they will break. I did several different ones so I still have a variety to work with...now comes the painting part, think I need some YouTube tutorials :}

Tena I had that problem too. I put a damp paper towel on top of the molds as they were drying, takes a bit longer to dry, but they didn't curl up so bad. I think slowing the drying time helps prevent curling. If you try another round, use a wet paper towel over them and see if that helps.

Thanks so much for this tips, will definitely use it next time. Hoping to work on my page soon, it will mean doing some skipping around in my cruise pages but I don't scrap chronologically anyway so no big deal.

Here is my take on mixed media: I used chipboard, wood veneer and burlap flowers.

You're welcome! It always seems to be the case that you can't capture the original as well in pictures. Maybe if I had been able to take it outside to photograph it would have showed up better! I'm so glad you and DH love it!!

Dawna, you must post the tag you made for me here!! I hung it over my craft table along with my other tags from swapping friends! I love it!

I'm so glad you love your tag! I didn't use any mediums on it, so I wouldn't called it a MM tag. But it is a G45, so I'll post it in Krissy's thread! Thanks for the reminder!

For mixed media-- I used some gesso, ink sprays, texture paste, stamping and embossing for the background. I also embossed the plants the circle the butterfly and the flower. I actually made the background last weekend, and finished off the stamping and embossing this weekend.

My goodness Carole, what a lovely MM project! I'm in love with the blue embossed leaves, they are so pretty!
