Retreat prizes

Hello everyone. I'm brand new here so this is my first post. I'm hosting a 4 day scrapbooking retreat in CT in January. I want to give some really great door prizes and welcome bag goodies. So.... give me your suggestions please! Thanks (Yes we have a few spots left!)

The answer to this is wide open and quite dependent on your budget. I would recommend staying away from things like cutting dies and stamp sets because you won't know whether the winner has everything to make those work straight away. Certainly the need to invest in a die machine to make a cutting die prize work would make the prize a little less pleasing. Of course, there is also the option of buying the whole kit and kaboodle to make it all work if that is what your budget allows.

Otherwise, go for variety since not every paper crafter will enjoy the same prize package. (You can look at the product categories on this site for ideas on the different ways to go. Pick a variety from those different categories.) At least with a variety of products, there is greater chance of finding at least something the winner enjoys. And people can switch with each too. Honestly though, I've received prizes with products I never thought I would like and ended up loving them when I tried them. And hey, these are prizes - not gift specifically picked for the recipient so don't sweat it too much.

That being said some of the products I really like are Nuvo drops/Stickles (any and all versions and colors), glitter brush markers, adhesives of all varieties (but especially foam pop dots and glue dots), paper pads (even the smaller ones can work for scrapbookers for photo mats), ready made flowers, chipboard stickers, punches, washi tapes, enamel dots, but as I've said the list could go on and on.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. For the welcome gifts I'm of course trying to stay cheap. I have to buy 25 of them after all! Im wiling to spend a little more for the prizes. Those are some great suggestions. Thanks.

For welcome gifts that are inexpensive, but useful, you might want to consider empheria since most of us love and use it. You can find tons of great digital art on Etsy, pay for it once, and print up as many sheets as you need. I would recommend packaging it pretty too, like in a glassine bag with a doily folded in half over the top of the bag (just staples on) to finish it off pretty. Consider breaking up a package of Tim Holtz "Vintage Dolls" to include in your bag. You could add a small collection of die cuts to the bag to make it more substantial too. And then a piece of chocolate goes a long way in making new friends! Yep, into the bag! lol You get the idea. For prizes, I recommend staying with designer products that are tied and true like Tim Holtz, and major brands like Prima, Doodlebug, Lawn Fawn, Tattered Lace just to name a few. Since this is a scrapbooking retreat, I'd say it's safe to say that everyone has or has access to a die cutting machines so I wouldn't shy away from a pretty die or stamp set.
