Welcome, come on in and sit a spell! The Café is a warm welcoming place for dear old friends, and sparkly new ones, to gather and keep in touch. My name is Dawna and I'll be your hostess. Please feel free to introduce yourself, pour a cup of coffee or whip up your favorite latte, pull up a chair and join in the conversation!

    Rules:
    1. Please be kind, courteous and respectful towards others.
    2. See rule 1.

    All are welcome!

For those of you coming over from the Secret Santa Swap, you're in the right place! Anyone have any special New Year's Eve plans? My daughter's (identical twins) were born New Years Eve so we always do a little birthday celebration. It will be virtual this year, but always a fun time.
  • Kristine W
I found the new cafe 😊 will you be closing the old thread down soon Dawna? I don't typically do anything for New Year's Eve, so this year won't be any different for me! I do like to play in my craft room on New Year's Day though...gotta start the year out with some creative energy!
  • Lisn2cats
My family does a hybrid of traditions - Japanese (mom) with a special New Year tiered box of treats. Lots of exotic prepared food that you normally would not see during the year (in a true Japanese restaurant, especially here in the US). On my dad's side (Polish-American), we have the bubbly and some sort of (yellow) cheese for good fortune. (I do my own thing at home - cornbread since I'm not a huge cheese fan.) And, of course, some sort of special dessert! I guess our tradition is Eating. I also like to interrogate them (aka ask them for their memories to add to my albums). When I finally get home, I make sure to wake up the cats for their special treats then start printing photos and scrap until I drop.
  • RobandTim2
How sweet Dawna, opening up your new cafe. Love it 🥰

My son Landon, and I took down our trees today. We also put away the Christmas Decorations. We leave the outdoor Christmas lights on until after New Years.

I'm thinking of some new lighting elements for our big family room.
We put in new ceiling fans and lights, which I absolutely love. But, I was thinking of other lighting effects?

We usually play cards and board games on New Years Eve and have simple fingerfoods.

I would love to have some crafty time, Kristine. I've been extremely busy in December.
I wanted to create a Christmas Pocketletter, didn't have any time to even go there....too much on my plate .
I am going to try and complete a Christmas album for me:)))
I've been trying to complete my Treasure Journal, but really need to try and get the kiddos Christmas album completed.
I need a fairy helper, lol.....

Dawna, how exciting and fun to celebrate your granddaughter's Birthday!!! New Years Eve, how exciting!!! Enjoy ❤

  • Gluemore Girl
Oh, I love a place to have coffee and chat! My coffee is hazelnut with milk, no sugar!
NYE will be spent at home. DD is visiting us for this week and she'll be staying for the Eve (I think).
I'll be working til 4:30. DD said she make fettuccine with carbonara sauce. That sounds wonderful.
I like to scrap on either NYE or NYD so this year it'll probably be the day.
  • Debbie.K
I work on New Years Day but will be staying home on New Years Eve. No more partying and going out for this old lady. I love the quiet time with my fur baby now. But I do make sauerkraut and polish sausage that I can never remember how to spell along with Mashed Potatoes for our Good Luck New Years day dinner. I'm thinking about adding something new to the menu since it didn't bring us much luck this year. Maybe it's time to bring out the Irish in me. Hmmm, what do Irish make on New Years Day.

I also don't usually make New Year resolutions because I always break them but I think I'm going to give it a try this year. It's time I got organized so that's going to be my resolution for 2021.

For those that are new, can we add names until we get to know ya better. My name is Debbie. Gluemore Girl so nice to meet you but I'm afraid I don't know your name. But I love the twist on your screen name.
  • Kelly.R
    Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I have been looking at all the fabulous goodies that have been posted from the Christmas swap. We had a very laid back Christmas. We do not celebrate in the traditional manner. No tree, decorations or gift exchange. We usually take a trip and call it "Our Christmas", but couldn't do that this year. I did do some on-line shopping. I spent the past 4 days planning out my Costa Rica album. Of course, one of the dies I really wanted is "out of stock" and I couldn't find it anywhere else.

No plans for NYE. I just can't get excited about the holidays this year with everything going on and needing to just stay home and be safe.

Elizabeth, I agree with Debbie on the other thread, if you don't need the gift certificates, please send my way. ) emoji I bought the cutest beach theme bathroom accessory set a few months back from there. It was so expensive, but I just had to have it so I splurged. Still glad that I did. It will last a long time as long as I don't break any of it.

Hope everyone has a good day!

    Hello everyone,
I'm having a cup of coffee myself this morning. I slept in late again....it's okay. I wanted to do some after Christmas shopping this weekend but it didn't happen. I cleaned the house instead. We don't take down any Christmas 🎄 until after the New Years. In fact we used to keep it all up until Three Kings ....but probably won't this year. My hubby gets a little sad after everything is down....guess he loves all the magic of Christmas and the lights.
Debbie great idea for Mother's Day.....
We probably won't do anything for New Year's Eve this year.....but in the past we went to Las Vegas. Crazy fun! Fireworks off the tops of hotels....and you can wear anything from casual to all blinged out. It's just this year with covid....probably stay in and watch New York fireworks on TV
Tomorrow and Wednesday I'm going to do light duty at work....I'm starting to think 🤔 this work thing bites. How did I do it for so many years.....?
    Have a great day everyone.
    Lisa

    Morning Friends,

So glad you're all finding our new Café! Yes, Krissy, I'll be wrapping up the other thread. As it turns out these threads have a maximum limit on them. Most chat threads have been restarted in new threads. Gosh I think the Night Owls is up to Part 11! So, the timing just seemed right to move the Café over here.

Lis do you cook Japanese dishes yourself? Or, just mom? I do cornbread on NYD along with black eyed peas and ham. It's a Southern tradition that my mom did every year. It's supposed to be for good luck too. Can't say one way or the other if it works, but it's always yummy!

Robin, wow you got right after that tree! I keep mine up until after NY's. Board games sound fun! When I was growing up our whole family would gather on NYE and play poker. It was always a blast! Ambient lighting in the family room is a must for me too. I have two ficus trees strung with mini lights. Love it!

Gluemore Girl, welcome! So glad to have you! We try to be on a first name basis around here, do you mind sharing yours with us? Fettuccini with carbonara sauce is a combo I've never tried before, you'll have to let us know how it turns out! I'm hoping to spend NYD scrapping also.

Debbie, I love sauerkraut and sausage, yum! But I think a good Irish choice is probably corned beef and cabbage. I love your idea for a Mother's Day swap, I'll plan on doing it! Thanks for the great suggestion!

Kelly I can't wait to see your Costa Rica album! You do such amazing work!

Lisa it will be a quiet NYE/D for me too. Now that we are empty nesters it's generally pretty quiet around here. Except for Sparky's antics! lol

Got up to the internet down at my house this morning. Took us a while to get it back up. Turns out my outdoor extension cord for the house lights blew our breakers. You don't realize how dependent you are on it till it goes down! Need to tidy up around here today, looks like cyclone in here. lol

Time to whip up some breakfast! bbl...

    Good Afternoon ladies
I am sitting on my deck in my jammies drinking a bottle of water. I have been trying to clean. With 2 dogs that belong to different friends added to the mix it is a bit chaotic. For New Years Eve this year we are having a few friends over for a game night. Breaking out Qwerkle, Mexican Train Dominos, and Farkle.
I still want to clean my carpet before then. It will be an alcohol free gathering.
Setting up 2 to 3 tables for games depending on who shows. I want everyone safe of course.
Good to see so many here.
I will be back later. Break almost over. LOL
  • Gluemore Girl
    Good Morning!
My name is Maria. Yesterday was my last day off from the long weekend off & it was my birthday. It was a beautiful day after tons of rain and cold. It warmed up enough that I took a walk with DD who's been here for the holiday break. Also got a mani pedi and then had a lovely dinner with cake for dessert. Wonderful day.

Kaye, I slept late every day of the long weekend and back to reality of getting up at 5:30 is rough.... it's worse when then time changes and we spring forward... I stopped recovering from that change when I was in my 40's.

Lorna, sitting out on the deck sounds lovely. You must live somewhere warm!

Dawna, so glad we have the internet. It's crippling when we lose it. I think that it helped keep us sane during this pandemic.
    Thanks again for hosting!
  • Debbie.K
Maria, I totally understand your meaning on those time changes. What didn't seem to bother me in my youth, now takes weeks to catch up on with that little hour difference. It's like a week of being exhausted. Even if you gain an hour and throws my body off course.

Got plans for the day so I can't spend two hours on the computer while I enjoy my two cups of coffee this morning. My son and I are going to the movie for the first time in a year to see the new Wonder Women movie. I'm hoping it's as good as it looks. Then I'm heading over to my younger sisters house for dinner and crafts. And when I say crafts, it's me watching them create. My sister has this awesome cricut that works thru the computer and cuts vinyl and fabric and I enjoy watching her create stuff with it. She's the tech savvy one in the family. I watch what she does with a clueless brain. She creates and I iron it on. Works for me.

Lorna, how's hotel fur baby going at your place. How's the Tasmanian Devil doing? He may have lots of energy but he sure is a cutie. You can't help but love those little rascally type.

  • Caletts
Good Morning. I should say mid morning. I slept late today; I have inventory tonight so it's going to be a late night. Hopefully not too late I don't function well past 9pm.

Had my first strawberries of the season today from Florida of course. They were good, didn't even need sweetener.

Happy Birthday Maria! It sounds like you had a great one.
  • Dawna.s Place
Good Morning, Sparky woke me up pretty early crying and scratching at the bedroom door. Silly goose was lonesome and wanted someone to get up and play! He's always so happy to see me in the mornings.

Lorna game night at your house always sounds so fun! You know I've never heard of any of those games. DH and I always play rummy-cube when we go camping. And, OMW we are so competitive too! lol Yes Lorna, how are you holding up with all those fur babies under foot, uh, in your lap! lol

Maria your welcome, it's my pleasure to host. So many good friends and I'm always tickled to meet new ones! It's nice to have a place where we can all connect. Happy, happy birthday, it sounds like you had a wonderful day! I know what you mean about the time change. Just when I'm getting used to having dinner at 5:30pm, we spring forward then by summer we're eating dinner around 8:00pm! But I do love the longer days!

Debbie you'll have to let us know how Wonder Women was. I haven't been to the theater in eons! Have fun at your sisters today! How's Moe doing? Did he have fun on Christmas morning? My Sparky got so riled up when we started opening gifts, but he did dig into his stocking and found a new ball all by himself. It was fun to watch him.

Carrie we love strawberries and always have great luck finding sweet ones off season at Trader Joes. When I was young, I had to do inventory every month, ugh! Counting everything nearly drove me nuts! Then when material didn't match the inventory cards, the recount was on. OMW I sure don't miss those days! I hope tonight goes smoothly for you.

    Time for more coffee...bbl

    Good Afternoon ladies
Happy belated birthday Maria glad you are joining us here.
Well the pups are a bit of a challenge at times.
I cleaned my living room carpet yesterday so everything will be clean for my guest New Years Eve. Cici and Obsidian (kitten) have been chasing each other through the room again.
Feeling a bit lazy today. A gloomy day. Rain on the way.
A friend from biblestudy invited Alex(my grown son) and I to go to see Wonder Woman tonight at 9:30. Her family has the theater rented for 20 for her birthday. I heard that the movie is good.
Deb guess we will both enjoy a movie with our sons. I really love seeing what that cricut does. I think that when I go back to work, that will be on my wish list.
Can't wait to see what ya'll create. You and your sisters are so creative.

Dawna, you should pick up a couple of the games to play. You will enjoy them. My son loves playing. We will have males and females here for Thursday to play games. I am going to set up a couple of areas to play depending on people.
Well I need to start making a grocery list for my food for New Years Eve.
    Have a blessed day ya'll
    72 and rainy here
  • Debbie.K
Just got back from seeing Wonder Women. I have to say the first movie was so much better. This one was enjoyable but not one of the better hero movies. I think Hollywood was trying to tell the world to be happy with what we have cause the entire movie was about a wish that got out of control. Lorna, I'm curious to know what you think of the movie. I have a few minutes to take a breather then off to my sisters house for dinner and creating.

Hi, everyone. I will be working NYE too. Then I will work on New Year's Day since we are on require overtime. This is our peak season, since I work from home it is not really a big deal to work a few extra hours. I'm hoping to work on my grandson album this weekend as he graduate in may. I am only a 1/4 done. We are having my husband family here on the 3rd so I will wait to take Christmas down next week. I may not post much but enjoy reading everyone's post here. You can just call me Debbie R since there is another Debbie already.

    Hellooooo everyone!
Been busy around my house. Today I made 2 Homemade Soups and my Italian Cheese Drop Biscuits to serve with them.
My Biscuits are made with evaporated cold milk, cold butter, flour, herbs, and good shredded Cheddar Cheese. 😋

I love using leftovers in Soups and especially using up those wonderful meats from Christmas Dinner.
I made Cornish Hens and Ham for Christmas Dinner.

    Happy Birthday, Maria.

Debbie R and Deb, great seeing everyone today.
Deb, I think some of the newer versions just can't match the old days!
Debbie R, I am going to be working on my Christmas Ablum tomorrow. Had to cook today. ) emoji

I'll try and share a few pics here at the corner cafe.

  • Jess E
I'm off for the next 5 days, and Covid is too rampant here... won't be doing anything, and there isn't anything open anyway. Looking forward to having down time, watching some crafting videos, and relaxing. I cooked for 2 of the 4 days off for Christmas. SO glad you moved this to papercrafting forum!
  • Kristine W
Jess, I hope you will get to enjoy your 5 days off and have lots of time to relax and get into some crafting! I am supposed to be receiving my next Design Team package for FotoBella tomorrow so I will likely be starting on one of my projects on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. What better way to end one year and start the next! ) emoji

Robin, your chicken noodle soup looks yummy! You are always cooking something good in your kitchen!

Happy Belated Birthday, Maria! I hope you had a nice day. Anything involving cake can't be that bad, right? ) emoji

Carri, I hope your inventory goes smoothly!
  • Lorna Lee
    That soup looks so yummy!
  • Gluemore Girl
Thank you all for the bday wishes! Got home from work and did a work out video... I thought it was 20 min but it was 35 so I decided it was okay for another piece of my cake. No more after that, lol.
This is a short work week for me due to my taking Monday off and having New Year's Day off so it's nice. DD and I watched Runaway Bride last night. I don't think I ever watched it from the beginning.

Robin, those soups and biscuits look amazing! I am thinking of getting my Christmas pages started for this year. I did the December not so daily challenge. I took a few photos but not enough for a mini so I'll somehow incorporate into my album for 2020. Not as many photos so it'll work.

Kris, a new design package sounds fun. Hope it inspires you! It's long been my tradition to scrap on NYE or NYD or both!

Jess E, our numbers are up and waiting for the post-Christmas surge. Hoping it is not as bad as Thanksgiving was but doubtful. Enjoy your downtime!

Lorna, I've got a Cameo and seldom use it. I think I just need to keep it out on a table to use as needed. I'm one of those "out of sight out of mind people".

Well need to pour my 2nd cup and get going for work. Have a good day everyone!
  • LauralsAttic
Good morning everyone! I'm always late to the party! We are staying home NYE as well just as we have done all year! It has been so windy and cold here but seems our snow and ice took a turn north and heading your way Jess. Happy belated birthday Maria! Robin your dishes look so good they are making me hungry and I just woke up. Enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch this morning before it gets too cold again. Temps suppose to drop all day. I spent the last couple of days putting stuff away other than tree. Will do that next weekend. Gearing up for virtual headaches with DGS starting school back up on Monday. I'm so hoping the next school year will be somewhat back to normal! Anyone thinking about New year resolutions? Mine is to get photos printed from the last 5 years and off my computer. Was suppose to do it this year but that didnt happen. I think I got overwhelmed! The others are finish projects started and learn how to use molds and more MM to create with! Thanks Dawna for giving us a place to hang out!
  • Debbie.K
Robin, prepare yourself, I'm moving in with you. You have the best food on a regular basis. I could use a bit of food pampering.

Maria, how was your birthday. Hope it was grand.

Covid is running rampant in the nursing home. We had four more nuns test positive and have been shipped out to special care places. So far no deaths thank God but I will feel better when they are all back home again. We also had three more staff that tested positive. The upstairs is like a hot spot. Thankfully the downstairs sisters have been fine. I'm staying put behind my plexiglass desk. I give the sign of the cross if anyone tries to come around.

Laura, I don't usually make New Year resolutions because I've always broke them. But this year I am going to try to get better organized. I have so many boxes I still need to get thru and I need to do them before spring hits so I can have a garage sale. Hoping to get enough money that I can get some gutters on that back garage. Other than that, it's just work and try to save.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Stay warm.
  • Eapipkin
Holy moly! I just popped over here after signing off on the original cafe thread, thinking there would be only one or two posts!! LOL. I tried to catch up on every one but that would take too long so I'll just say hi and glad to see everyone!

We don't do anything special on New Year's. Just the four of us. I wouldn't be surprised if our youngest, Dan, doesn't trot off to a friend's house. We are usually in bed by 9:30 or 10:00. Back when my husband still had his folks we would get together as a family and have good eats and sparkling cider on New Year's Eve, but when they passed, nobody wanted to get together anymore. Kind of sad.

Robin, your food looks so yummy! Making me drool!

I am feeling better now and working on changing my eating habits. I had my follow-up visit at the dr. Monday and we both agree I need more fiber in my diet and less red meat so I'm trying to cut that back to once or twice a week. Also taking the Metamucil (psyllium husk fiber) twice a day instead of once and am going to start up on probiotics. I really don't want to go through diverticulitis anymore!!

After two weeks absence I was able to go out and make a couple of cards Monday afternoon. I still need to make a sympathy card. I found out a few days ago our neighbor's husband passed away a few weeks ago. The neighbor, Beverly, would come over to visit me every now and then. I am wondering what her family is going to do with her and their place. I am pretty sure she has had some strokes in the past.

I am planning on mopping the kitchen and bathroom this morning. I may take down our tree and decorations but am leaving the cards on the door til after New Year's.

Oh, by the way, Kelly and Deb, I went to town yesterday and used both of my gift cards to Macy's and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I was so thrilled to find pullover tops at Macy's that are feminine and pretty prints (similar to t-shirts but long-sleeved and 3/4-sleeved). Three of them have henley type necklines and the others are round neck. I can't find squat anymore at Walmart or Target, so I was on Cloud 9. I bought 6! Then to BBB, I got dish mats, a candy mold and a set of new bath rugs. Unfortunately, nothing was on sale so I had to pay the leftover of what my gift card didn't cover, but that's ok. I got some other Christmas money from my aunt and a good church friend. The bath rugs are made in the USA so I was happy about that! You are right, their prices are high!

As for projects....I would like to start making some more layouts again, but am still just drooling over journals, also known as junk journals, which I cannot call them that. Mine are called Treasures Journal. I really want to get back to doing that again.

Glad to hear you're getting some time off, Jess. Be careful and stay safe, not only you, but everyone.

Thanks for opening the new forum, Dawna! Oh, and for those of you that don't know me, my name is Elizabeth.
  • Dawna.s Place
Good Morning, Wow lots of visitors, so happy to see everyone! Robin thanks for the soup and biscuits, yummy! Just enjoying my coffee and waking up, slept in late today. Hum...NY's resolutions, there are a few home improvements I want to get done this year, insulate the garage doors, replace my front door and my desk chair. Don't think were going to tackle the master bath remodel, after last years quotes, we've just decided its too expensive and we can do with what we have. When it comes to crafting, I'm terrible about starting a project, then not finishing it up. It would be nice to finish up a few of them and get my craftroom more organized. All the AG stuff I bought last year has left me in need of more paper storage. Then lastly, DH and I have decided to get back to our weight training and eating clean, we both need to slim down some. One last thing, a huge garage sale! I need to reclaim our poor 1 car garage for DH's workshop. So we definably need to get rid of a garage full of accumulated stuff. If I get all those things done, I'll feel pretty good about the year.

    Time for more java...bbl
  • RobandTim2
    Good afternoon sweet gals,

Thanks for the sweet comments on my soups.

Dawna, I'm with you on the home improvements. Hubby, and I are wanting to replace our kitchen countertops and sink. I really miss my farm sink.
However, it costs so much that we will be doing the work ourselves.

Bike riding is really one of my favorites this time of year here in AZ.
My family loves to eat, the holidays come once year so we splurge on the calories.
But, we will be heading back out on our bikes and the gorgeous trails.

Elizabeth, so glad to hear that your feeling better! My cousin had that, she had to stop eating nuts, pulp of any kind, and rich meat also.
Fiber is really important, do they have you on a yogurt plan?

    Okay, everyone gotta get busy.

    Have a great day!!!!!

  • Kelly.R
    Hi Everyone!

Woke up this morning to sleet that turned to snow. Uggh! We rarely get snow, but it does happen maybe once or twice a season. We went out for a nice hot breakfast and decided to go to the grocery store and stock up for the weekend. I think everyone else in town had the same idea. The store was crammed packed full of people. You would think they were stocking up for the Armageddon. Took forever.

Robin, your soup and biscuits look delicious. I should really make some for us. Elizabeth, so glad you were able to use your gift cards. Sounds like you bought some great things.

I'm working on our Christmas light layouts. I spent a whole weekend a couple of weeks ago painting every chippy I needed since we were finally having nice weather and no wind knowing the weather was going to turn again. Now I can spend this weekend using them.

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful New Year! My hope is that is is so much better than this one. We definitely need a do over.

    ) emoji Kelly

It has been snowing here almost all day and I didn't feel like venturing out to my Craft Palace, although I really wanted to craft.

Talking about how bad this year was, I keep thinking about all the hardships people went through during the Great Depression and the Civil War Years. We've had it kind of bad for this year, but I can't imagine what those folks went through for years! My mom and her family going through the Depression makes you really think about how easy we've actually had it compared to them. We are so used to conveniences that we take for granted. I hope and pray things will be better next year but God only knows what we're in for.

I got my bathroom and kitchen mopped, put out my new bathroom rugs, washed four of my new tops (the other two I will wash on Friday since they are different colors), vacuumed the living room and have been pretty much taking it easy since.

I have been getting on this site, going through my layouts and copying all my descriptions and pasting to Word. I want to edit the descriptions, print them out and attach to the back of the layouts for journaling purposes. Should have done that a long time ago.

Okay gals, for those of you that use texture paste....what is your go-to texture paste? I have a jar of Prima white crackle texture paste and before I used half of it, it got hard. I have added water and tried to work that in but I don't think it is helping much. There are so many different types out there but I'm wanting to try something different.

Be careful in that sleet, Kelly. We get black ice up here at times and it is extremely dangerous.

Oh, I forgot to mention that we actually had a lynx come through our property two nights in a row. The first night it hopped the fence next to our driveway and got into the neighbor's ducks, killing one and badly injuring another. Kenneth found its tracks right by our door, went across and down the driveway. Dan saw the tracks when he left for work at midnight. It always concerns me about him walking out to his truck which is parked under a canopy on the other side of the driveway. The cat came back the next night but didn't hear from our neighbor about it. We looked up tracks and deduced that it was a lynx since the prints are bigger than a bobcat and smaller than a cougar. There have been cougar sightings up our canyon also.

Good Morning and Hope everyone is well! Lots of hopes and plans for New Years!
I joined the 1 little word challenge this year with my focus on health: physical and mental.
As for scrappy goals I want to pull out my cameo and get it working. It sits on a shelf and I do nothing with it. I plan to change that this weekend. After last January, I have not been to an in person crop. A couple of my friends and I rent a house for a weekend in the fall but we canceled and rescheduled to March. I am so looking forward to that. 2 of us work in hospitals and will be complete with our vaccines by then and I think our other 2 may also be.

Elizabeth, Laurel and Kelly, Hi! nice to meet you.

Sounds like some of you had some wild weather. We in New England just have rain. I'd like a snow storm since DH and I bought snow shoes for Christmas, lol.
Robin, DH and I used to bike all the time. He used to take bike trips but his knees got mad at him for several years so he had to diversify his work outs. We are considering a tandem electric bike some day so we can pedal with help, lol. We have lots of hills here.
We are in the middle of a big home improvement. Our basement (family room) took on water for the 3rd time so the room had to be gutted for a drain and pump to be put in and now we are rebuilding. It's way over the planned budget I had but the 1/2 to a full bath will help the resale value when that time comes. It's about 3/4 done. I think the project will be done by the middle of January. Then I'll just move down there cuz it'll be nicer than the rest of my house, lol!

Gotta get to work. Happy New Year!!!

Hi everyone! Happy New Year's Eve! I have just rediscovered this space after being away from my scrapping for a loooong time. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. This seems like a good spot for me as I usually have my coffee while going through emails, checking boards, etc. 😉
We are spending NYE at home (hubby, 3 kids and 2 fur babies). Our kids are big so it should be pretty chill. Our plan is to do endless appetizers and watch the ball drop. I'll most likely fall asleep by 9pm, then wake up just at midnight 🤣
    Have a great day everyone!

Good morning all! I never was a bike rider. more of a runner and rock climber but the last 5 years I have not been able to do either. When the weather breaks in early spring I hope to at least start walking again so I can keep up with the family on our hiking trips and shed the covid lbs I put on. Wearing same size clothes still but not as comfy as they were! I really need some sunshine! It always makes me feel better! We are in a winter warning with ice and snow coming. Had a bit of it yesterday but its suppose to get bad overnight. So I plan on making a pot of venison stew and hot bread to keep us warm. Plus it all goes into crock pot so it will free up my day. Need to make a couple of cards if time allows! With storm we are most likely going to loose power so we have to prepare for that and get a rank of wood cut up and brought up to the house, get generator out and go get some extra gas for it as well as some ice melt. We have no plans to go anywhere so just going to hunker down. Happy New Years Early just in case I cant get on tomorrow!

Kelly, same here. Ran up to the grocery store and couldn't wait to get out. It was packed. There was no 6ft distancing there. Didn't get half of what I needed because I couldn't handle all the people. Grabbed the fixings for our New Years dinner and then spent 20 minutes in line. I really need to start ordering online and having it delivered.

Also woke up to a small amount of snow. It didn't amount to anything but the temps sure did drop again. Sure hope my new winter coat comes in soon. Tracking says today but we all know what that means. It means, maybe today if you're one of the lucky ones. LOL

Was wanting to get all my Christmas stuff down and put away but still waiting for my son to bring up the big container for it all. He worked nights last night and fell asleep this morning before I could catch him. That's what I get for sleeping in today. I may just gather it all up and stick it in the kitchen so I can at least dust and clean up the living room. The kitchen is a drop all anyway. May as well add to the clutter.

Dang Elizabeth, A Lynx? And to think I worry about coyotes. I'd be afraid to go out at night with your kinda wildlife running around.

Maria, be sure to take pics of your remodel. Would love to see the finished results.

Was just notified that our facility will be giving Covid shots on the 5th of January but because I had Covid, I have to wait until February to get mine. They want you to wait three months after having Covid. Bummer. Oh well, at least if there are any huge problems, I'll know before I get my shot.

Hello Tara, welcome to our cafe. Is your name Tara cause I was just guessing. Sounds like we all have the same New Year plans. A quiet day at home.

Good morning and Happy New Year's Eve! Well here we are, the last day of 2020! I know you're all just as glad as I am to say goodbye to this year and bring in the new one. Adios 2020!

Taramomx3 welcome, I'm also guessing that your name is Tara. If not, please correct us as we like being on a first name basis around here. Happy to have you join us!
Robin you'll have to take before and after pics to share your kitchen remodel with us too. What kind of countertops are you going for? A farm sink is a game changer in the kitchen, I adore mine!
Kelly can't wait to see your lovely Christmas layouts! You do such a great job keeping up with your photos!
Elizabeth I'm with Deb, please be safe outside! I too use the descriptions that I post with my layouts as journaling on the back of my layouts, works great!
Maria I'll bet remodeling the basement has been quite a project. It will be wonderful when it's all done, Yes, please plan to share pics with us! It's been years since I've been to a retreat, you'll have a blast I'm sure!!
Laura baton down the hatches and stay safe in the storm! Enjoy your stew. I'm going to start walking too, need to get this old body back in shape! lol
Debbie I'm so glad to hear that your facility is getting vaccinated! What a relief that will be for everyone!

    Time for more coffee...bbl

    Happy New Years Eve ladies
It has been raining here most of the night. Paw prints on my carpet in my bedroom where one of the pups that I am sitting made it in the doggy door before I could catch him and wipe them.
I have a baby gate up so they can't get out of my room to the carpet that I just cleaned.
We will be about 10 tonight for a game night. Plenty of room to be socially distant. My son is making sandwich wraps, I will put out veggies, chips, dips, crackers, spread and cheese. Oh and cookies. Whatever everyone else brings. It will be a simple night with friends from our church. No alcohol just fun.
Tomorrow is my birthday and I am not planning on doing much.
Went to the grocery store yesterday and it was 72. It started raining and by the time I got home it was 54 degrees. Too cold for this Texas gal. 39 last night with rain.
Not sure how folks do it with multi dogs. I guess it is the one little girl that is hyper causing me to be anxious. She seems to be a type A. Wants to boss my Cici into a corner. No body puts baby in a corner. LOL. If there was not carpet in this house it would be better too.
I think that I need another cup of coffee. LOL
Have a wonderful blessed New Years Eve. Be safe. Prayers for a prosperous 2021

    Lorna

Dawna, I agree with you 100%, ADIOS 2020!!! I'm ready for a much better 2021!
Lorna, happy early birthday! I hope you have a fun game night. I have been in my craft room since I got home from work (only a half day). I'm working on a bullet journal for a creative team project and hoping to get it done today so I can post the flip through video on my YouTube channel tomorrow.
Tara (like others, I'm assuming that is your name), welcome to the group and welcome back to crafting! What are your favorite types of projects to work on?
Laura, I hope you guy stay warm in the cold weather coming your way. Stew and hot bread sounds like a nice start!
Maria, a basement remodel sounds exciting and a lot of work! Will you have a craft room there when it is done, or is it a family-style room?

    Happy New Year's Eve
Well, I sure had a lot of catching up reading since I went to work the past two days...glad to see some new peeps here too.
So here in the valley of the sun...it is a bit gloomy outside. However, I slept in today...

So I made an appointment for the Covid vaccine yesterday and took it at 11am AZ time today...(oh and we never change our times here but i do remember doing that years ago when we lived in Chicago area)
So far I feel okay, but I heard so many different reactions from people, so I was getting concerned and anxious. Today was the last day for a while because they want to make sure there are enough vaccines for the second part in three weeks. I have to say as busy it was it went very smoothly. It only took like 5 minutes and you had to sit in another area in your car for 15 minutes in case you had an allergic reaction. I read on the hospital website that just our system had given out over 10000 vaccines in the past two weeks. Wow! I took some pictures of the process, that was basically a drive through with tents....for my sister. Afterwards, my hubby and I went out for lunch at Red Robin. He had to drive bc I still can't... I splurged on some onion rings and fries with a burger. I only ate half and brought the rest home. I'm sure the boys will eat my leftovers. I have been lucky in the sense I actually lost 20 pounds while I was broken...too hard to get food while I was using the scooter. Now I did splurge over Christmas and it sure is hard to give up carbs again, but I have to because I sure don't want to gain it back!

Laura....you can come down to AZ to stay warm. Usually this is our best times of the year....right Robin.
Dawna I'm sure you and I have the same kind of weather....
Kristine, did you get the vaccine too?
Debbie, so sorry so many people are getting Covid by you....I was told by one of the physicians that if you had Covid you should be immune for 6 months. However, maybe they go by how severe your case? Scary part is that there is the second strand now...hope 2021 is better.

    Have a safe and evening

  • Kristine W
Happy New Year everyone! I'm not going to make it to midnight! I'm heading to bed. Crafting all day is exhausting lol.

I'm almost done with my journal so a video should be coming out (hopefully) tomorrow morning and then I am listing the journal for sale in my etsy shop. It's got a lot of purple in it and I'd keep it for myself but I already made myself a 2021 journal/planner back in April that I'll be using.

Lisa, I got the first round of the vaccine on the 23rd. I was lucky enough to be in the first round of staff to have the opportunity since I see all of my patients in person.

    "See" you all in 2021!
  • Kaye222
I got the first vaccine too.....I just waited until the last day.
Arm a little sore this evening....

  • Lorna Lee
    Happy New Year!
May you and your families have heath and prosperity in 2021.
    God bless ya'll
  • Taramomx3
Yes, I'm Tara. Thanks for the welcome!🙂 I'd definitely try the grocery ordering—-20 min in line and a crowded store is not fun!
  • Taramomx3
    Happy Birthday Lorna!🎉

Hi! I love all kinds of projects. I like to say that I haven't met a craft I didn't try or like!🤪 Back in March I printed out pictures for all of 2019 and the beginning of 2020. I have a Project Life album that I wanted to try to use for 2020 so I started there thinking I could quickly bang out 3 months and then jump back to 2019. Good plan, right? Except, I learned that those Project Life pocket pages are really frustrating for me and slowed me down. I've decided to give myself permission to NOT use those pocket pages and just use standard 12x12 page protectors for a traditional layout. But, I hate to waste anything so now I'm trying to alternate, ugh ! My goal for this Jan is to start my 2019 album ( I'm just about done those 3 months for 2020, lol!) How about you? What are you working on?
  • Gluemore Girl
Good Morning and Happy New Year! Contemplating a 3rd cup of coffee... decided on a 1/2.

Hi again Tara! I found that the pocket pages are stressful for me too, lol.

    Lorna, Happy Birthday!

I received the vaccine on Christmas Eve. Had a very sore arm for a couple of days and then 2 days after felt like I was getting sick (body chills, fatigue and upper back pain) but then it was gone by morning. I get my 2nd on 1/2. Kaye, sounds like you've had a rough year overall. Hope you feel fine. Most people have not complained of anything but the sore arm.

Debbie, sorry you had Covid. I hope it was a mild case. I am hoping by summer we'll all be able to unmask and feel safe. I would not be surprised if masks got re-implemented next fall and winter though.

Did a quiet NYE here. DD watched a movie with DH that I 1/2 watched and then decided to scrap instead.

Dawna, I used to have my scrap space in the basement family room but DH did not like to see the messy table even though it was tucked behind a wall and the sofa. So I moved it to DD's old room last year, it's a bit of an inconvenience when one of the kids is home and needs to sleep there, but I make do, lol. The family room will be used for TV watching and working out. We turned a laundry room into a laundry closet and turned the 1/2 bath into a full bath by adding a shower. I'll share a few before and after pics when it's done.

Well, I could be chatty all day or I can get moving. Think I better do that latter. Have a wonderful day everyone!
  • Debbie.K
Our facility is beginning vaccine's on January 5th but since I had Covid, I have to wait until February to receive my shot. We were told 60-90 days after detection of Covid. That will bring me to February 10th. We've had quite a few employees that have come down with the virus so I'll not be the only person in the facility waiting on their shot. I'm ok with that. It'll give me a chance to see how everyone reacts.

So, did everyone receive their $600.00 from the government? I woke up and checked my bank and there it was. It was probably in yesterday but I hadn't checked my statement. Too busy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORNA birthday emoji ice_cream emoji cake emoji

Maria, your basement sound divine, can't wait to see pics.

Very quiet New Year for me. It was just me and my fur buddy. We were in bed by ten and was woke up at midnight to the neighborhood fireworks. The first boom was so loud that Moe and I both bolted out of bed. Then we realized it was fireworks and went back to sleep.

Gotta work today. Double time pay. Always makes me happy when that paycheck comes in. Have a good day ladies. It's raining ice here. Hoping there's salt on the road before I head out tonight. I do not like driving on icy roads. Too old for that s hit.
  • Kelly.R
Happy New Year Everyone! Hope everyone had a happy and safe one. I tried to make it until midnight, but went to bed at 11:30. People in our neighborhood was popping fireworks all night long, which is actually illegal. But, unless they cause property damage the police won't do anything about it.

Deb, the one thing that is so annoying buying groceries is the employees filling on line delivery/pick up orders. They have those huge carts they are pushing around and are in everyone's way.

It was cold yesterday and the forecast stated more snow, but we didn't get anymore. It's sunny and cool this morning.

Dawna, I was looking on your blog for the pictures of your Jane Austin album and I couldn't find it. Would really love to see the inside. I bought the Heartfelt Creations flip album. It's kinda like the blue album I made for my 20th Wedding Anniversary, just a little bigger and not as many pages. I'm going to hang on to it until I have the right pictures for it. I saw a few YouTube pages for it and I really like the design.

    Happy Birthday Lorna! cake emoji

Welcome to all the new people I don't know yet. grin emoji

Tara, I haven't tried those project life albums but I can relate to feeling frustrated about crafting at times! I think that's how I got with making my niece's first year album. I stopped creating traditional 12 x 12 layouts years ago because I started to feel like everything looked the same. Try making an album full of nothing but baby pictures! joy emoji I prefer making mini albums!

I finished my journal this morning and am uploading the YouTube video now. Then I'll add photos to my gallery here with a link if anyone is interested.

Deb, not everyone qualifies for the stimulus check since it is based on income. Good for you for getting that added into your account! If I got one, it would probably just all go to Graphic 45! grin emoji

I think I'm going to eat lunch a bit early so I can get started on my next craft project. I'll be on the FotoBella blog this month with my design team projects so I'll be starting on those today.

Kristine, I'll try and check out your video.

Hello, Tara and welcome all you new friends!!!

Deb, be careful tonight driving to work! I remember driving for years on those old back roads when I lived on my farm.

I made it to exactly midnight, I too, heard fireworks and lots of celebrations going off. I was so tired, I went to bed. Surprised, I made it to midnight. Lol...

Wishing everyone a fantastic day, I'm working on my Christmas Ablum. Yey😊
