Versafine onyx black smeared with distress & pigment inks?

  • Pinkpop
I thought that versafine onyx black is ok to use with light colored distress/distress oxide/colorbox pigment inks but they all smeared.
I was trying to stamp images & love how the versafine onyx is so crisp but my light yellow & pale pink inks all turned black.
Although I am able to use my watercolor brush markers with versafine.

What am i doing wrong? What black ink do you use with distress/oxides/pigment?

VersaFine is an oil based pigment ink which resists re-emulsifying when water based inks of any color are used over it. Which is why your watercolor brush markers work fine. Your distress/distress oxide are also water soluble, so they shouldn't smear either. ColorBox, is a pigment ink with a much longer dry time than water based inks. Since the VersaFine is an oil based pigment ink, it has a much longer drying time too. VerasFine stays wet long enough to allow for powder embossing. Do you know if it was thoroughly dry before applying color? If not, give your VersaFine plenty of time to dry between applications and this should clear up the problem.

Thank you so much! I think the versafine was too wet when the inks smeared
