One Sheet Wonder Cards

  • CAQ
I have been introduced to One Sheet Wonder Cards. You use one sheet, 6x6 double sided seems to be most popular, and cut it into predetermined pieces and use those pieces to on 4-6 cards. You can then embellish with other cuts, epoxy dots, sentiments, etc, as you wish. It is a good and quick starting point.

I have been looking for information on how to determine how to cut your own pieces so that I don 't have to download other people's patterns and measurements to make the cuts.

It dawned on me about 10 minutes ago. I am going to pick a double sided piece of cardstock and just make cuts, no smaller than I want to work with, and go from there. I would definitely make a 1/4" and 1/2" strip because they are very versatile, but the rest will just be shapes geometric shapes that can be cut with a cutter, no curved edges are used. I will select a patterned paper that has colors that I want to work with.

If you have 12x12 sheets, just cut four 6x6 squares from it.

    Has anyone done this?

I am truly a scrapbooker... NOT a card maker! But, I am trying..... I really want to give to Cards of Kindness. I found LOTS of posts on Pinterest on One (or 2) sheet wonders. They do give measurements on where to cut. Also I have cut down a 12x12 to a 6X6. But, just remember the "art" work on a 6X6 is smaller than a 12X12 piece of paper. (even if it's the same print!)

Hi CAQ, I have not done this but have seen tons of videos using smaller and smaller pieces of scraps to create beautiful cards.
With regard to 1 sheet wonders, my friend shared a Maymay Made It you tube video called "How to Use Hard to Use Papers".
She takes a 12x12 sheet of patterned paper (scenic or ornate paper) and cuts it into 4 x 5.25 in size sheets face down from the patterned size. She does not look at the patterned side when she is cutting. When she flips them over onto the card base, she gets a really cool mini piece of art that literally only needs a sentiment.
I made 6 sets of note cards and gave them as hostess gifts recently.
    It was fun and quick!

Gluemore Girl, sounds like a fun way to use up those odd pattern cardstocks. Some that I have I just don't like anymore, but mostly, I just want to change up my patterns and need to get rid of what I have first. My card techniques have changed since I started and the pattern cardstock I purchased when I started a couple years ago just does not work.

    Thanks.
