die cuts

I used my Sizzix for the first time. Followed the directions. I used a leaf pattern. The leaf pattern is imbedded into the cutting pad. I tried again and used a square frame and now that is imbedded into the cutting pad. Brand new and I don't know how come. Diane

Are you using it directly onto the magnetic platform? If so, then that's the problem. Put one of the see-thru pads down
on top of the magnetic platform, the paper, your die, and then another see-thru pad. When I started out using
mine years ago I had the same thing happen. It won't ruin your magnetic platform, just try not to do it anymore.

i put the magnetic platform then a see thru pad on top then the die then the paper then the other see thru pad. paper goes under die? Could that be why?

  • Toni-n-tn
Could be, depending on which side your die is facing. The cutting part of the die has to be sitting on the paper
whether the paper is underneath it, or on top of it.

So I purchased a self healing magic mat and the die is embedded in that too. It does not heal.

Whatever die you use it's going to stay embedded to your plate or magic mat. You should see my plates they are wall warped.

@dkramer47Â Hi you may wish to try this sandwich to see if it works better for you.

    Sandwich from the top down:
    Clear plate A
Die with the cutting side face down
    Cardstock
    Magic Matt
    Clear plate B

Your die will cut into the magic mat and you are correct, they really don't "heal" very well. But, it's no biggie since the marred up mat goes under the cardstock. The marks won't transfer to your next die cut, nor will they etch your clear plates if you use this sandwich. I hope that helps!
