Welcome to the New Layouts and Cards for the months for July and August. We would also love to see any other project, photo or imported images you'd like to share with the group.

The rules for this thread are simple: Post a newly uploaded layout, card or project, get comments and give comments on everyone's pages. No "drop and runs" please. If you get love be kind enough to give love back. Since there are several people here, try not to flood the post with too many LOs or cards. Maybe 5-7 in any post and no daily limit. Follow SB.com instructions for downloading and linking your projects.
Come by and join the fun! This thread has gained a fairly regular following. We enjoy seeing new people come by to share their work and join in the fun! You can join in at any time. Just remember that it is more fun if you give love and get love too!
While this is a laid-back community of artists and crafts people sharing their work and support, it's not a place to just drop off work and not visit the galleries of others in the thread. We encourage you to enjoy all the marvelous talent and leave comments! Should you encounter a problem with another poster in this thread, please PM them directly to ask your question or resolve your issue. The hostesses are not referees and can't step in the middle for you.
This is a collaborative effort. We are rotating the job of hosting the thread. Included in the opening post is the schedule of hostesses over the next couple months. Please volunteer as it is the easiest job you will ever have!

Thank you Cathe for hosting May/June!
Spent yesterday shopping at Costco (where I lost an earring), and basically just fiddling with the Cricut and some verbage for the LO I'm working on. Today, however, I am headed out to clean the trailer plus make a list of everything I need to bring out there. That will be a lot as it means food, spices, dog stuff and of course clothes, towels, and personal stuff.

    • Anna: I am so very sorry that you have to endure the nastiness of dementia. It is a shame our loved ones go thru this and there's no help in the pharmaceutical area. Just take solace in that she really doesn't know what she is saying that is so mean and she's confused. I watched BFF fall to pieces trying to keep her father in his house during that time. It finally came to a head when he took 3 days worth of pills one morning and then forgot to turn off the stove. So lucky he didn't die right then. But Pam was devastated to have to put him in a home. I hope the process here is easy on you and your family! Hugs!!! Enjoy your 4th festivities!!!
    • Cathe: Sorry the sale got moved but you did have a good time with Carole I'm sure. How fun it would be to go to the lake for the 4th. Do they set off fireworks over the lake? I had to shake my head yesterday because there was a big ole state blinking sign saying NO Fireworks within Vanc City limits. Not 50 ft further there were huge circus tents selling fireworks! One right after another one. The way everything is so costly right now, I cannot imagine wasting money on 2 seconds of wow. JMHO!!!
    • Cheryl: sounds like you are enjoying the biking and running again. OBTW, that poke cake looked so yummy!
    • Danielle: Will you be car shopping over the 4th? Are you all moved into the she shed?
    • Denise: You have any plans with family for the holiday? Steve found out yesterday about some of TX's gun laws. One that really excited him is that since he has a permit to carry here in WA, he won't have to re-apply there in TX. I saw another new listing on Zillow and I'm in love with that house! Hope it stays on the market until we can do something about it.
    • Jane: I remember that poor little Baxter suffers horribly from the fireworks. Last year it was funny to watch but when a bang happened the 2 little dogs looked to our Lab, Kip, to see if she was going to do something. When she didn't, they settled right down. I don't know about thunder vests or what or how they work. Congratulations to Aria!! I would just take her to Target and let her go shopping. I think a few books would be a good gift for her.
    • Linda: how are things there? That bear sighting would have given me heart failure especially since it was so close to the house. Have fun with your new journals. I gave up doing LOs a few years back because I go upset with my oldest for not sending me photos of the kids or their vacations etc. It was as if he knew I really wanted some but he wouldn't share to hurt me. So I quit but then lately I decided I would do albums of both my sons and I'll go back to the grands when I feel like making more. I don't have that many photos because it was expensive back in those days.

    Have a good one!

Monday July 1 85° in sunny San Diego

This time I'm going to write before reading, or then I run out of time. Now if I just don't lose my post! I'm usually kind of afraid to come to sb.com because things just begin jumping into my shopping cart and dragging me through the check-out line!

Nothing has really been going on. Pretty much the same medically and I still haven't had the courage to face my piled-up craft table, although the card-making bug has been nibbling at me.

One item of good news is that my #2 gd is expecting a baby girl right around Thanksgiving. It would be fun if she would arrive either on their 1st anniversary or on her Daddy's birthday (Dec. 1). They are currently at Disney World and went to Spain over spring break. Victoria mentioned that her 27th year of life had been pretty exciting with an engagement, marriage, bought their first house, Spain, completed her Masters degree, and got pregnant. Yes, definitely an exciting year!

One funny thing...Victoria teaches special needs biology and some other classes. When she told them she was pregnant, one girl piped up with, "Oh, so that explains why you've been so moody lately!" lol But then they were so kind to her when the room had to be packed up for the summer. The kids wouldn't let Vic pick up anything heavier than a couple of books. Several of these kids have to report to their parole officers when they first come into the classroom and several are over 18 and served jail time. Many live in tents. But they still have gentle hearts when they are treated kindly.

I'm trying to make a crocheted afghan like I made for my last ggs, Lucas, but I've been having trouble with lots of shaking, so it's difficult to get the hook into the stitches. Hopefully I'll be able to do it. I'm making it out of pastel yellow yarn.

I want to read back some and see what you all have been up to. I'll definitely try to do better to keep up.~Judy

    Monday Monday

Terry- thank you for taking over July and August.
Oh yes -going camping is SO much work. I really wish we had gotten on the ball and sold ours earlier in the year. Don't know if we will be able to now being into the summer.
Terry- I saw a thunder vest for dogs on tv the other night. It is a vest and wraps around the dog's chest and body....hugs them tightly. Ozzie had one. It helps somewhat. I hope it helps Baxter a lot.
Last year we watched fireworks while we were on the boat. It was pitch black all around us. It was thrilling. The moon was red, due to wildfires what were somewhere, but it was so cool. The fireworks weren't a big display- just people shooting them off. However someone shoots off fireworks from a barge and we should be able to see them too. Nothing spectacular, but enough.

Jane- I made myself clean the bathrooms and do some yard work before I went into my scrap room.
We might get rain tomorrow. If so I will send it on to you.

Danielle- good luck finding a car.

Judy- Wow an exciting year for Victoria!! It is wonderful that her school kids didn't want her lifting anything. Poor kids facing such hardships.

We had a fraudulent charge on our credit card. It was the second one in two weeks. So I cancelled it and they are sending a new one. Such a pain. Now I have to change that card everywhere. I could hardly understand the woman. Indian accent and the sound was going thru the hearing aids. I don't like that and changed it to go thru the phone when I got off that call. It wasn't going thru the hearing aids until a week ago. Remember I thought they weren't working? I messed with trying to get blue tooth reconnected......which wasn't the problem anyway.

  • Rockmom
    Hello.

Had my little get together with my rock friends yesterday. It was so enjoyable.

Anna, hugs and know I'm sorry y'all are dealing with this evil disease. Prayers

Terry, yes, Texans protect their guns and gun rights. Hope the house stays available for you. Yes we will have 22 family members over. I'm tired just thinking about it. Good thing is the house is akready clean if I can keep it that way. I'll need to work on kitchen and restrooms but not the whole downstairs.

    Jane, a cool.start sounds nice!

    Judy, exciting times!

Cathe, that experience on the boatvl sounds fun.

Cheryl, I like your new card! So soft and soothing.

Thank you ladies for hosting this thread. I appreciate you!

Monday night check in. I had a hair appointment at 3 and then came home and mowed. I have no plans for the 4th other than I am not working but have to watch Izzy because daycare is closed and Priscilla has to work.
  • OnlyJane
It is still Monday and I just lost a post again, what in the world am I doing? It happens lots of time especially when on my laptop that I have on my lap, dang. Well will try one more time. Did not do anything in the yard today, am tired of it, so just walked around some to see what would be nice to do when it cools down. Bob did water tonight. We will be going over to ds's for hot dogs on the grill for the 4th. I want to hear Aria telling us all about her Camping Friday's at Summer school. When back home hope the neighborhood will not be too noisy with fireworks. Last year it was awful, the noise lasted past midnight.
Judy so nice to hear from you. Congrats on the new baby to be in your family. How sweet the kids in Victoria's class would not let her lift heavy things. The situations those kids have had to face and yet they were so thoughtful of her. It shows how kindness toward others can work. How nice your going to do another afghan for the new arrival. Your right Victoria had an exciting year with all she did.
Cathe, if you get some rain do send it to me, we need it. That is so nice that you and Rum will be going to Doug/Charity's lake house for the 4th. Hope you can take a boat ride to see the fireworks again. I swear it is a mess when you get a charge on your credit card that you did not make, plus like you said, when taking to the credit company you can never understand the person. Well, dang, fireworks have started, put the Thundershirt on Baxter, so far so good. We shall see how it works out as the week goes on.
Cheryl I bet Izzy was super cute even if she did not sing, glad she enjoyed going.
Anna so sorry about your Mom and her memory. It is hard dealing with everything. Went through this with my mom. She accused Bob of stealing her piggybank, he wanted her money and was trying to put her in a mental hospital for starters. It progressed as time went on. I wish your Dad would let someone come and help with her at least once or twice a week to give him a break because he will need it. It is such a horrible disease to deal with. Take care of yourself also. How is Bucky, will he be getting his pacemaker soon, sure hope his Medicare is all set up. Enjoy your 4th, have fun.
Terry did you get the camper already to go? Hope you have a wonderful time with your friends. That is neat you found a house online that your interested in Texas, hope you can go and see some houses soon. So many decisions you and Steve will have to make.
Denise how have you been feeling, any better?
Danielle any plans for the 4th? Does your town put on a 4th of July fireworks display? Our community puts on a small hometown parade, they close most of the roads from 9:30 until noon.
Linda are you all ready for the 4th?

Finally caught up so will close and hope everyone has a good night!!
  • Terry0773
What a busy day yesterday was. I was outside pulling weeds and dealing with eliminating blackberry vines in the small island. It has 2 dappled willow bushes and a maple bush but those crazy vines just entwine themselves everywhere. Of course, I had to bend over most of the time and I have a sore back. Emma & Kam came at 4PM to mow and clean out our gutters. Kam is so willing to do anything Steve asks of him. But I had to come inside as I was on the verge of heat stroke again. I need to talk to the dr about this. Today I have an apt with the kidney dr and that is all I'm doing.

    • Anna: I agree with Jane that it might be a good thing for a care giver to come a couple times a week just so your dad can have his own time. Something to think about. BFF's 2 granddaughters work for a company of care givers. They basically take the patient on short walks, cook if needed, read to them, etc. They aren't nurses but just helpers. Hope your week is going ok!
    • Cathe: I'd love to see fireworks over a lake at night in a boat. Our temps here will be in the mid-nineties on the 4th and climbing the whole next week. At least 1 day will be 100 deg. I absolutely get fighting mad when someone hacks our cards. It is such a mess to change all the sites that have one cc number. I use paypal a lot so these other sites I buy from do not have them. I wonder tho how these crack heads get our numbers.
    • Cheryl: Does the hospital get really busy with the accidents from the 4th ---fireworks injuries as well as grilling? I've heard the amt of patients ending up in ER just about doubles. Hope you and Izzy have a relaxing 4th!
    • Danielle: You'll drive all the way down to SLC to look at a car? That's what about 4 hours? I guess if the deal is good enough it would be worth it. I know people here in WA who bought cars from an outfit in ID. He seems to do triple the business so he buys for less and sells for less too but I think its only Fords.
    • Denise: Awesome that you had a good time with your rock buddies! That's quite a crowd you are having for the 4th! Hope you are feeling better too.
    • Jane: Hoping you have a quiet and noiseless 4th. I hope we do too! I can just imagine how fun talking and hearing Aria's version of things. I love that age as the little ones get so animated when telling stories. Do you photograph her a lot? I started doing photo shoots with the grands, especially when we all were together. I'd take them places where they would play or have fun and then do the shots. I just wish I had that camera when my kids were little. All I have left to do with yardwork is a little weed whacking with that gutless wonder Steve bought. (no power enough like our gas powered big one) Then I'm going to start dumping dirt out of containers to either sell or take with us. Everything now is thought of in terms of "take it", "sell it", or "trash it".
    • Judy: so good to hear from you and that you are doing well. Exciting news about the new expected one and how great a year Victoria has had. Will you have a family gathering for the 4th?
    • Linda: Are you having a party or get together? Has the bear been back?

Working on getting the stuff together for 2 layouts. I saw this woman do this trick on youtube and it floored me because it was so simple. We all use chipboard embellishments on layouts. She takes those 12 x 12 cardboard protectors that SB.com puts in with the papers you buy here and using her fingernail she splits them apart. In other words, makes them thinner and ends up with 2 or 3 pieces. Then using die cuts or the Cricut/Silhouette she cuts out an object 3 times. Then glues them all back together and you have a chipboard piece for free! I've used those pieces for color separators for my cardstock piles, as backing for magnetic sheets when I have a lot of dies on one (I use double sided tape to adhere magnet & chipboard), and for painting or coloring blockers to keep my glass top clean. Guess I might have to have more paper so I can get more chipboard!!! You could do this with cereal or cracker boxes too.
    Ok, off to the races!!!

  • Southernlady2
    hello and good morning

jane- no i don't have plans for the 4 of july. we do have a fireworks show at nighttime by the snake river which i can see from the back of are house. they have a Prade in another town close by us that sometimes we go to.

Terry- yea we drive to saltlake city but now we not going to because my husband call that dealer ship and the car i wanted won't be there until the end of july. so we are going to go to Boise and see what the dealer ship has there i think there a few of them. we just want the right price on the car.

well today nothing much going on here. need to mow the lawn later on today. have to remind my husband to pick up his prescription and Walgreens and see if the owner of his work see if he can take a truck home that way i can have are truck and start going back to the gym and working out. i got my pictures that i took when i min golf when my parents where here and the pictures of me in my car. so i am doing layouts with them.

hope everyone has a great tuesday
  • Scrapperb2
Hello Tuesday pm, I keep so busy with activities, that I forget to check in regularly. I do miss chatting with you all that is for sure. The weather here has been good with the right amount of rainfall and low humidity, usually in the 80's. I have been trying to keep up with the demands of the house, that is a never-ending battle with cat hair. We did a few groceries this am, and I popped in the Dollar Tree for a few odd things that I needed. Then I cleaned my bedroom, changed the sheets, the floors and the bathroom. Wow....I was so tired I took a nap for an hour.
Yes, Friday we are having a BBQ, this time with hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, deviled eggs and for desert I'm making the hand held pies and have some ice-cream. Hopefully the weather will be nice, I'd like to eat outside in the screened gazebo. Cody and Maddy can't come up.
Fireworks....Carrie wants us to go, but I don't know if I want to. We will see Saturday. The girls work on Sunday-Wednesday, Maegen loves her job, at 14 she is very responsible and saves money. Lexi, she is helping out with some of her expenses for dance. She also saves a lot of money.
Yes that pesky bear was out here again yesterday morning. I'm not sure what attracts him to this window, but the cats go crazy with fear, and sort of makes myself react. I cannot believe how big he is, but not dangerous, they really are scared of their own shadow.
Danielle....car buying is always difficult for me. I get filled with anxiety, maybe because of the decision of which one to get. Hopefully you can use a truck
Terry.....do you mulch? I have to as I wouldn't be able to keep up with all of the flower beds I have. I sit to work in them as I cannot kneel at all with both knees being replaced, Rene can kneel on one. So nice to have someone come over to lend a hand. Did you buy a house in TX yet? Starting over takes a lot of time. I will not ever do it again especially at my age. Kevin wants us to fly out to Cedar City UT at the ranch, but I don't know, I hate to leave the cats and they don't like going to the "cat hotel". I don't know why he wants us out there so bad. Rene thinks I need to rethink the idea of a trip. What do you think? Am I being selfish?
Anna....my heart and prayers go out to you and your father. Being a caregiver is a difficult task for anyone. Many have had a family member who suffered from it and I hear it is terrible. My mom died young from a massive heart attack, and my dad with a difficult battle with cancer, so in that respect we didn't have to deal with that.
Denise...so glad you had a wonderful time with your friends. I think you need that sometimes

Nice to hear from you Judy. Hello Cathe, Cheryl
Tonight I'm getting all of the ingredients ready to bake cookies tomorrow am. I'm making Rene some peanut butter blossoms and snickerdoodles. They go quick as I mix both batters before I bake them, then it is a production line with my four baking sheets. I only make one batch unless I'm expecting the girls to sleep over.
  • Scrappin 2
Busy day…I will have to read later. Just wanted to say hello
  • Cdjohnson
Terry - Yes, the ER gets very busy with injuries from fireworks and grilling.

Jane - Yes, Izzy was cute even though she didn't sing.

Cathe - What have you been busy doing today?

I made cheeseburger sliders for supper. The kids and Dylan are here. They all went out to ride scooters. Isaac came over for a minute because my lawn mower tire has a problem. He says it is the tube inside. He took it off for me and told me where to take it to get it fixed. I will drop it off tomorrow.

  • OnlyJane
Good Tuesday evening, another hot and dry day. Seemed like a long day, I am getting way too lazy. Need to get out tomorrow and do some much needed errands.
Cheryl glad your son helped you with the lawn mower tire and it can be fixed. Sounds like the kids are having a fun evening.
Cathe do you leave tomorrow for the lake house? Have fun and be safe!
Danielle hope you can find a car at the right price and it would be nice if Jim could use a company truck some.
Denise glad you met with your rock friends, you need to do that.
    Anna have a good 4th.
Terry you are busy. Glad Emma is a big help to you. I have been seeing a whole lot of ants in the yard this summer, they must like hot and dry weather. Be careful with getting too hot. I have noticed if I bend over too long especially outside I get dizzy from time to time.
Judy will you have some visitors for the 4th? Enjoy the day.
In case I do not check in until after the 4th, have a wonderful day and be safe in all you do.

Its 61 deg right now and starting tomorrow our temps will climb to 100. Steve's at the bariatric surgeon's office for his post op appointment---7 month after surgery? What a rant that is for me. Yesterday, my kidney dr's nurse told me (because she used to work at our pri care dr office) that our new pri care dr is leaving Sept 2nd. Holy moly! There's also 2 other doctors leaving and some nurses too as they can't stand working for the corp co, Praxis, that bought out a very successful practice. Hope I don't need a pri care dr any time soon.

Was going to Kroeger's but I'm feeling lazy today so I'm doing laundry and scrapping.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable 4th and stay safe!!

    HAPPY JULY 4th
Enjoy the day and hope your weather is beautiful, ours is. 74 @ 9:00am. Yesterday had BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, out in the gazebo. Today will be some BBQ ribs, garden salad and tin foil veggies.
Tomorrow will be the family BBQ with America's favorite, hamburgs, hot dogs, salads, deviled eggs, desert. Yummy both days. Fire works Sat. in Errol
  • Cdjohnson
Happy July 4th!! I am babysitting today since daycare is closed. I will have tomorrow all to myself. I was running yesterday morning and at mile 2 my right leg just did not want to work correctly. I hobbled home and ended up going to the ER. I have bone spurs, bursitis and osteoarthritis in my right hip. I have to walk with a cane right now because of the pain when trying to walk. I am supposed to see an ortho doctor. I called yesterday and they could not get me in this week due to the holiday. She was supposed to call me back and never did. I guess I will call back on Friday. I really need a steroid shot in my hip.
  • Terry0773
Happy 4th to all! We'll BBQ some chicken tonight and have Italian Mac salad & deviled eggs. Other than than absolutely nothing is going on.
The good news is Steve finally got it thru his head that you do not contact a realtor just to get an appraisal done on the house. What a relief! That subject was the source of many arguments.
I played around cutting chipboard with both the Cricut & the Big Shot. Mostly it worked great. This is where you subdivide a pc of c/b into 2 pieces. Still didn't like text too much tho.
Guess I'll go play since I've done laundry, emptied trash cans, and picked up some. Need to vacuum too. Flowers will survive as I did water them before we hit 90 deg today.

Cheryl: I feel your pain. Just the bursitis is enough to bring tears. Do the steroid shots work for you? They sure didn't on me but going to the chiropractor did. Hope you get to feeling much better soon!

Thursday, July 4th 85° at 11:45 a.m. in sunny San Diego

Nothing really going on. My church had their big fireworks displays last Saturday and Sunday nights. I was able to stream it live. They do a wonderful show that lasts about 15-20 minutes. They go around and contact all the neighbors. Most of them are happy...they invite friends over and have cook-outs and have a backyard viewing. The church provides some support for animals and people, but mostly people are happy with them.

My oldest daughter, Jini, and her hubby, Keev, will be up with Subway sandwiches around 3. I'm getting a nuclear stress test tomorrow, so today I can't have chocolate or soda, so I'll be having lemonade and an oatmeal raisin cookie, although I'd definitely prefer a Coke and chocolate chip cookie.

Their #2 daughter and husband messenger-called me from DisneyWorld last night. They have a suite that backs up to United Kingdom's giraffe and antelope area. Yesterday they didn't do much except rest and watch the giraffes. She is the one who is pregnant and could use a day of relaxation. Today they are at Mickey's area. They were trying to decide how early they'd need to get up so that they could get in before the park was closed because of high volume. They sent me pictures this morning, so they obviously made it in. They are looking forward to the fireworks there tonight.

Hope you all have a nice, restful day.~Judy

80 here with rain showers. No complaints about the rain as we really need it.

Hi Judy! So nice to see you check in. And congratulations on the new ggb! Victoria has certainly had an exciting yar so far!

Cheryl, so sorry about the hip pain. Enjoy your day on Friday.

Cathe, have fun at the lake. Being on boat in the middle of a lake watching fireworks sounds so nice!

Danielle, hope you find your dream car soon. Happy Gotcha Day to Bella.

Denise, enjoy your day with all of your guests.

Jane, hope you have a fun time with Aria. She will enjoy the fireworks. Hope Baxter doesn't get to upset over them.

Terry, glad you have Emma and Kam close by to help you all out. Are the people that were interested in your home still interested?

Hope everyone has a nice 4th of July. Eat all of those goodies!

91 today and a bit humid. We had a busy day, Rene worked outside and I made the handheld cherry pies and hard boiled eggs for tomorrow, I will mix the deviled filling, fill them in the morning. The BBQ ribs were sooooo delicious. Carrie and the family are coming over for a BBQ, and towards the night we're going to have s'mores. The girls are bringing some sparklers and firecrackers. Hopefully Scotty won't be scared. The cats don't mind.
I called urgent care for Shianne, I think she has food sensitivity but I'm not sure. My appointment is on Saturday at 4:30. I hope so much it's nothing serious, like Emily, she didn't come back home with me. I still miss her.
Anyway have a nice day tomorrow. I'll catch up Sunday

Good morning! I have the day to myself so I plan to make some cards and possibly some layouts. I need to get more photos printed and start making kits for my trip in September with the Grans group. Fireworks were still going at midnight!

Terry - I have had steroid shots in my other hip before and in my knee, and they did seem to help. It is just so frustrating to try and do healthy activities and then something like this sets you back.

Danielle - Looks like you all had lots of fun playing mini golf!

Morning. Was up til almost 4AM. Just couldn't get my brain to shut down so I watched several episodes of How To Get Away with Murder. I love Viola Davis as an actress. Then I slept til 9AM and have no plans at all for today. Still was lingering booms at 1AM then it got quiet again.

    • Danielle: Great Layouts. You sure had fun at the mini golf place. Is today when you are going over to Boise?
    • Cheryl: I agree. I walked a lot before the hip bursitis and I know now that having foot surgery twice and then the knee too I now do not have the stamina I used to. Hoping it helps get you back to what you love to do. Those are 2 cute cards! Where are the grands meeting up in Sept? How fun!!!
    • Cathe: how was the trip to the lake?
    • Denise: did you have a fun day with everyone there?
    • Anna: With your rain, did you get a parade and show? I hope your trip with your Mom to her doctor goes well.
    • Jane: How did Baxter do? Did the thundershirt work for him? I saw where that company has now put out several products. How was your time with Aria?
    • Judy: That's a really neat thing your church does and then to stream it.
    • Linda: Sounds like your day was really fun.

    Take care....

Terry - We are meeting in Phoenix, Arizona this year.

Friday night. Doesn't seem like a Friday.
We got home about 2:00 from Doug and Charity's .
We had a great time. Fireworks were canceled due to the rain forecast. I'm sad that I didn't get to see any.
We got up there Wednesday and went out on the boat. Good thing we did as Thursday was much cooler and looked like it could rain at any minute. However I rather liked a break from the sun. Van and Doug skied.

Cheryl- I'm so sorry about your pains. Bursitis is awful. I have flare ups every now and then.

Jane- How did Baxter do? Charity recalled how she had to take Ozzy to the basement and hold him and he slobbered all over her. Doug said Ozzy was fine until one year lightening hit by their house and they weren't home. After that he was a basket case.

Judy- sounds like a nice church community.
Hope you get good news from your test.

Linda- you were really hot for the 4th! Sounds like you had a great time with family.

Terry- Hope you get a good appraisal.

Cheryl- cute cards. Glad you had a day to yourself!

Anna did you finally get rain?

It's almost 9:00 but glad I got to catch up.

Cathe, yes! We go some rain on the 4th and had a good rain yesterday and got about just over a half of inch of the liquid stuff! Grass is already coming back to life. Scattered showers are in the forecast for today. Sorry you didn't get to see fireworks from the boat.

Hello to all and have a great day!

Yesterday was an extremely hot day. The temps went up to 92 degrees and soooo humid. Nobody wanted to do anything. The girls came over in the car with Scotty, Carrie rode her motorcycle over along with Colin on his bike. Both bikes are black. We didn't cook a lot of food and it is a good thing as nobody was overly hungry, but we did cook a lot of hamburgs and hot dogs. The baby is so much fun as he is 10 months, stands, crawls, eats table food, and his teeth are coming in quickly. Today it is raining which we desperately need. I hope it showers all day. I need to get laundry done as the hamper is chuck full, only I really don't feel like doing it.
I have heard on TV about how bad Ozempic can be on the body. The stories they talked about were not diabetics, and they were ladies using it for weight loss, and did shots everyday. A man is on a crusade to stop doctors from prescribing this medication needlessly. His wife was taking the shot everyday, besides using a prescribed weight loss medication, she died a terrible death and he has a huge lawsuit against the company and will win.
I do know since I've been on this for almost a year, for me it does curb my appetite, and I weighed in Yesterday am and lost 5.4 more lbs. This medication is working fine on bringing down my A1C, from 11.6 to 7.9, which is great but my DR. said it needs to come down to 7 and under to be healthy. I will know in Sept. when I go see him.
Cathe---sorry you didn't get to see the fireworks. They are so beautiful over water. I never tried to water ski, glad they had fun. Rain is something the whole country needs badly. Here the ground is so dry, but thankfully it is raining now. Glad you had a nice time.
Cheryl---I sympathize with you, I have an ongoing problem with Bursitis, and the Orthopedic surgeon did x-rays and the hip shows a little wear, but I have prescription for the inflammation.
Jane---I've never had a dog, but did he do okay? My cats aren't bothered by thunder, as neither one has ever been outside. They are good clean, healthy kitties. I thought about a little dog, but decided I wouldn't make a good doggie "mama".
Terry---yesterday Rene went out to get the mail. He handed me a card, and I was boggled as to who would send me one. Well I thank you so very much for the beautiful birthday card. I love the soft colors and the band around it with the wording is clever. Again thank you.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend---I am going to have a "scrappy" one
  • Rockmom
Linda, exactly why I refused the Wegovy. My A1C is 5. There is no need for it. I have bowel issues any way so no need to risk further issues. I'm not taking it to lose 20 pounds.

Taking a break from packing. We are going to Missouri. We were leaving Monday but now a hurricane is forcing us to leave tomorrow. No need to drive in heavy rain as we are expecting 10 inches of rain Sunday evening and Monday. Probably into Tuesday also.

Cheryl, sorry about the painful bursitis. Hope you can control it.

    Saturday
    Busy day once again.
I fertilized all the flowers and tomatoes. I know there is an easier way. I have to keep measuring the fertilizer in the sprinkling can which only holds 2 gallons. I wouldn't be able to lift a heavier can. I know you can buy stuff that attaches to the hose, but have never bought it.

Denise- You are probably so busy getting ready. Safe travels to you.

Linda- good luck getting the A1C down. It is good that it has been going down.
Glad you got some needed rain.

Anna- I know you needed the rain, probably coming when it did spoiled a lot of out door plans.

We are going to our friend's house for dinner. I'm taking a recipe Cheryl gave me that is diabetic friendly. Our friend Mark is diabetic.

Catch you all tomorrow, God willing.
  • Terry0773
HI Ladies. It's 3PM and 94 deg here. Got the islands watered this morning, groceries at Kroger's done, and a quick trip to get my coffee syrup. Now time to relax. I'm making grinders for supper. Been ages since we had them. With sweet corn & asparagus to boot. Tomorrow is our 51st anniversary and although we aren't doing anything we at least exchange cards. Since I'm upset with him he got a store bought card.
Danny is leaving here forever on July 29th. He now has to drive his truck with the 2 dogs down there but that is ok since the movers won't move his guns and the price to haul the truck was $1700. He did have a long talk with Steve at the gun range which helped some but I just can't get the man to move on the first thing to be done---call the neighbor.

Denise: Have a safe trip to MO! Dang it that's a lot of rain at one time!!! Is your mom going too? And no you shouldn't take Weygovy.
Linda: I am very confused over what you heard on TV because it makes no sense to me. This is JMHO..... I've never heard of any doctor prescribing Ozempic daily shots. No way... would any Medical ins co go for that either let alone a pharmacist. And how would she have afforded it? If that lady was doing that she did it on her own and that was just plain stupid. Ozempic does have its side effects even when using it correctly like upset tummy or constipation. I'll be stopping it next month as my supply has run out and I am tired of playing their paperwork game. It did help my A1C but I never lost a ounce of weight with it. Without that patient assit program I certainly cannot afford the $6000 a month retail. Hope your weather has cooled down. It's the humidity that get me! I hate it.
    Jane: How are you?
Anna: that's sure a beautiful bouquet! Sorry it rained for the 4th!
    Cathe: Have fun!
    Hi Danielle....

    Good Saturday evening,
Reached 90 today with a nice light breeze which helped some. Yesterday was very hot 96, but by late afternoon we had what they were calling a dangerous t-storm with high winds and rain, we did get 2" in a short time. Of course, Baxter gets scared. July 4th fireworks in neighborhood started around 9:30, lasted until 11, they were close by, Baxter was so scared, did better with Thunder shirt on, holding him, he had a trank but should have given it a little earlier, finally worked. Sure hope we don't have any left over firecrackers tonight. Anyway 4th of July over at Aria's was fun, she was in full force, full of energy and constantly on the go. She had been to the community parade in the morning and had an assortment of candy that they give out to the kids. So all in all it was a good day.
Terry Happy 51 Anniversary! Ours was last month and Bob totally forget, never did that before and did not even offer to go out and eat. I was not happy. Your dinner menu sounds yummy for tonight. How did Steve's follow up go with his dr.? Wow not long before Danny leaves. Lots of changes for everyone. Hope Steve starts getting busy on your move.
Denise be careful and safe heading for Missouri.
Cheryl hope your feeling better and can get the shot you need on Monday. Glad you got some "me" time. Nice cards you did.
Cathe sorry you did not get to see the fireworks but at least got to ride in the boat. You have been busy in the yard again. It got just too hot here and I have taken a break from the yard. My next job is to get the weeds out of the rock in the front, ugh. Did you get some scrapping done?
Danielle did you get to look at any cars? I saw that you posted some layouts, I need to take a closer look. Did you work on them in your she-shed?
Anna hope your weekend is going well. Glad you got some rain also. Really like your latest image.
Linda you have been having hot temperatures also. I find when it gets hot like it has been, I don't feel like eating much, but do consume more liquids. Glad your A1C numbers are going down for you. We have always had dogs. My mom liked kitties but was allergic to them.
Judy how nice you were able to stream your church's fireworks show, what a nice thing for them to do. Hope your medical tests went well for you.

Better go before I lose another post!
    Take care!!

    Good Morning!

I don't think anyone complained about the rain because we really needed it. We have been hoovering right around 90 with high humidity so the rain was a welcome relief.

Happy Anniversary Terry! Wishing you many more! In order to get the ball rolling, you may have to go talk to the neighbor.

    Safe travels to you Denise.

Hope you get good test results Judy!

    Get your car Danielle?

How's the hip feeling today Cheryl?

Hope you had a fun dinner with friends Cathe.

Happy Belated Anniversary Jane! So sorry Bob forgot.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Terry----Ozempic is prescribed for a once a week injection that helps lower blood sugar by helping the pancreas make more insulin. It is NOT approved for weight loss, BUT some physicians prescribe it to be used for weight loss. However...semaglutide is approved for weight loss under the name Wegovy. Ozempic has a smaller dose of semaglutide than Wegovy. Research has shown that if you stop taking Ozempic(or Wegovy) it's likely that you will gain back the weight you lost. They both are made by the same company, they both contain the same active ingredient semaglutide, however, Wegovy contains higher doses than Ozempic which was developed for type 2 diabetes.
Ozempic is covered by health insurance, Wegovy is not.

My hubby and I has done extensive research on Ozempic, my best girl friend is a PCP, and suggested several sites on line to explore the drug. She also stated between you and me, there ARE doctors who will prescribe it for weight loss because of the lower dose of semaglutide. I personally don't know a doctor who does this, but they certainly are out there
Anyway there are several articles that back me up
  • Terry0773
Linda: I know all of that as I did research too. Didn't mean for an argument to happen. All I truly meant to say was that I found it incredible that anyone would give themselves more than 1 shot a week whether it was for weight loss or diabetic control. And to sue Novo Nordisk just blows my mind but then again people sue for anything. I do apologize as it wasn't my intend to question you but just the people you talked about.

Sunday--We had a downpour for a short time this morning. Then it turned sunny. My computer says 85*. I haven't been outside.
I washed our sheets and put them back on the bed. I put away the 4th of July stuff that decorated my white hutch. I put out the summer themed things.
    Then I scrapbooked.

Saturday night dinner with our friends was delicious. It was so nice not to cook. We got home about 9:30.

Terry- I don't know if it is men in general or just the two we married, but...........If they would only do things on our time table!!! LOL
I think Donald should call about the window that needs to be replaced. He waits and waits on things that I think should be done now.
You are really going to miss Danny! Better get down to Texas!

Jane- sorry Baxter was so upset.
Aria is at such a fun age. I think you should be scrapbooking all about her.
Well poo on Bob! Maybe you can suggest you go out to eat as a belated celebration.
I did get some layouts done. I don't know why I'm so slow to get them in here. ...maybe I will get a couple in here today.

Anna- I always enjoy the sayings and things you find.
I have trouble liking myself. ..........not all the time, but I do think I have an inferiority complex and probably could use a shrink. LOL

Denise- hope you got to MO before the rain hit.

Danielle- find a car? We are all so excited for you. Is your corn ripe?

    Hello Cheryl, Linda, Judy

Linda - What did the doctor prescribe for the inflammation? The ER doctor just told me to take 2 Aleeve in the morning and 2 at night. It really doesn't help much.

Cathe - Sorry you didn't get to see fireworks. Dylan, Priscilla and Izzy went to the hospital I work at and parked on the 5th floor (top) of the parking garage and were able to see the fireworks at the riverfront well. The hospital is about 18 blocks from the riverfront.
