Printing on Ribbon

Hi! I am FINALLY starting my couples album for my friend and her husband. I was wondering if I could print on ribbon. Like do a sample of the text on paper, then tape the ribbon over the paper and run it thru the printer again? Just on like a simple satin ribbon. Does this seem possible? Thanks!

Where's Emily? I want to say she posted on doing this, and she did exactly what you say.......

I often use the little MM magnetic stamps, and stamp on ribbon, too.

I know that you can do it on twill, not sure about satin as the ink may not absorb, but its worth a try.

Yes, that's exactly how I do it. Print it out on cardstock first, and then use removable adhesive to stick the ribbon down and run it all back through the printer again. I've done twill and satiny ribbon both this way. I did set the printer setting to "best" however, to do the satiny ribbon. It bled less that way.

Yes. You are correct. Twill or gross grain works better than satin ribbon. Satin will bleed. You can print your line on paper, tack down the ribbon on the front side or go over the edges and tape it on back (with repositional tape or glue dots). I did this on gross grain and it worked well. Just make sure you dont' use too intricate of a font. Also, I have stamped on gross grain before with ink. That worked really well.

I've done it on fabric. it works pretty well.
