Help with Herma Dispenser

Please help!

My Herma dispenser is acting up! The used portion is wrapping around the unused wheel and coming out the opening! It seems to be getting stuck. It is like there is soemthing wrong with the unused part wheel. Am I making any sense?!?! I don't see any goonk. I have cleaned it out. This is the smaller dispenser I picked up at Wal-mart. This is only the second refill I have had in it!

Welcome to my life AND the reason that I use the TOMBO now... Love the Tombo and have had no problems with it! Sorry I can't help though, I just threw mine away.

Hi Wendy, sometimes if you tear of the used portion and rethread it then it will work fine. I love herma, but feel I'm always helping my friends to get theirs working. Sometimes the used portion doesn't go on tight enough. Have you used much of it? If it is acting up and you just started with it, then you may not have loaded it correctly. Make sure your used portion is completely threaded and working. If it comes loose, tear it off and thread it again. I'm like csquaredsmom--I love my hermafix, never had any problem, but I can see that potential.

Wendy - mines does the same thing I love the adhesive but hate the dispenser!

I used to have this same problem. Until I "fixed" it. Under the take up wheel there is a little plastic stop, you will see it when you take the unused portion off the spool. If you "break" that stopper of you shouldn't have anymore problems. My has worked fine ever since. I have heard others say that they did the same thing and it worked. Good luck!

This happens with mine too. I was told that a batch of refills was bad and caused this problem, and that the new refills should work fine. I have been waiting to get a new refill to see if that is sure. But now I will break that little thing odd too. I also loved the adhesive, but hated the dispenser. Thanks for the idea.

I have had to buy about 5 new herma thingies!! This always happens to me!

I thought when I put in a replacement that it was hopelessly wrecked. And then I realized that I had just threaded it wrong.

This happened to me a lot too!! So annoying. I threw mine away and use the Xyron repositional tape now.

I didn't like the Xyron tape. I have a hard time getting it to stick properly. I haven't used the Herma tho. Is that the "Vario Dots" one? I thought about buying that one and giving it a go.

I just threw two old style CM taperunners across the room, i treated myself to the tombo a month ago and LOVE it. I dont understand why I have to buy something and then constantly 'fix' it. jmo

Thanks for the advice! I kept thinking I had rethreaded it wrong, but everytiime it stuck! It acted like the wheel wasn't spinning. I took the used wheel out and the litttle stopper thing pulls off. I cleaned the gonk off and it is working better. I may take it off completely now that you ladies have suggested it! I'll just find a d safe place to put it in case I need it.

i've used my herma for years and never had a problem until my newest refill. perhaps it is a bad batch. thanks for all the suggestions - i'm going to try them!
