new eyelet setters

I want to try one of those new eyelet setters that work without hammers since I'm usually scrapping while my kids are sleeping. I tried the Provo Craft one and it doesn't work with my MM eyelets very well & I have heard various things about the Karen Foster Click it. I have also seen the MM setter on their website but haven't seen it in any store. Does anyone know which setter is best?

I don't know about the click-it but I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, my ready set eyelet setter. It's similar to the new Fiskars ones but had interchangeable bits. It is so super easy, eyelet setting goes so quickly, even with the hard MM ones. It is a bit noisy but I've set eyelets while my dds (3&1) where asleep with no problems. I don't know how good it does with punching holes as I use a Japanese screw punch for that. JMTC. PM if you'd like the web site.

I second the clikit!! I also LOVE LOVE LVOE my clikit! I hardly used eyelets before cuz it was such a nusance...now I don't even give it a 2nd thought!!

this redneck woman uses a thumbtack for a piercer...and a hammer and a philips screwdriver to set the eyelets..on a cutting board....don't have to worry about my kids sleeping....I'm usually ready fer bed before they are!!! teehee

From someone who actually broke a hammer from setting so many eyelets...I bought the fiskars set and they seem to work fine. Just bought it recently and haven't used it very much yet. I do like it better than the one I tried from Provo Craft.

They had these springloaded ones at the expo. They make a loud pop though because the spring makes them slam down into the eyelet. They were pretty neat. I don't remember who made them though.

A silent one would definitely be better for me.... my neighbor called the off-duty cop in our apartment complex last week because she heard a lot of hammering. They never came to talk to me about it, because they didn't know for sure if it was me or not. I never set eyelets after 9:00 pm, so I don't think they could even do anything to me about it! BUT... I haven't set once since

I recently bought a Noxon set. They look like springs and the hole puncher is self-cleaning. I like that it doesn't have "heads" that I can lose. There are 3 springy things and it sets everything from mini eyelets to the 3/16" honkers.

Super easy to use, and if you put it on a softer surface, it's really quiet. It even sets steel eyelets easily. The hole punch can even cut through a leather belt!

I've seen the Provo craft one and it doesn't set the MM eyelets as easy as other eyelets. It will set them in two snaps.

Oh...I love the Provo Craft one. I haven't had any problems with MM eyelets (those are the only eyelets that I buy) It took me a couple tries to get it, but it now works like a charm. I own a Ready Set tool also that I love, but it is much noisier.

Just my two cents.

Do the springs get greasy? I was afraid that they would be greasy and make spots on my pages...or worse yet damage my pictures.

I have a ready set tool and it is not greasy at all . I just love it, I also like it's size. I can keep it in my crop tool bag. I just keep the bits in a small altoid's tin along with the bit for my screw punch.

I have the Provo Craft One and LOVE it! The instructions say to "twist" while pushing down. I have a bad wrist, so I can't do that. I found that If I stand up, put both hands on it and just push straight down it will set ANY kind of eyelet. I only own MM and some generic ones, but it works on them all!

Ha, Laura, I used to use an awl (ice pick) to punch my holes and a hammer and a phillips screwdriver to set the eyelets before I got my MM tool kit (which I love) -- it's noisy tho and doesn't apply to the question at hand here--- but I guess I'm a redneck woman too. At least we get the job done, huh?????

man, why hasn't it occurred to me before to just STAND UP?!? i have wrist/arm problems too, but i am in love with the provo craft setter! i tend to scrap late, late at night (until 2am sometimes) and hubby is usually asleep in the bedroom right next to where i scrap... so i've always been hesitant to get a hammer-type set or a noisy clicker thing. i try to throw my shoulders into it as much as possible, but that would be a lot easier standing... duh!

I am curious about the MM setter... has anybody actually TRIED it??? does it work like the clickit or the provocraft???? I saw it in ACM the other day.. so I could use a coupon..

The MM works like the clickit. It's okay.
