Downloading Fonts

Okay, I know that we have discussed this topic nearly to death but I did a search and couldn't find previous info.

I need to know how to download a font (particularly a free font). I chose the font. I made a folder on my desktop called fonts. I saved to the folder. I saw the zipped font. When I clicked on the folder there were 3 documents. 1 saying I got the font from free fonts thanks for the business yada yada yada. 1 that was the font and 1 that was some sort of text document about the font.

It won't let me cut and past into my fonts folder under Windows so how do I get it there so that I can use it?

I am so confused I need HELP

I've had the same problem! Someone help us find our free fonts! :-P

Extract the font with something like Winzip to c:\windows\fonts. In Winzip, click on the Extract button, and then choose your folder, as above.

you can also open a seperate window for c:\windows\fonts and drag and drop from your opened zip file.

NO it won't let me drag and drop for some reason. And I don't know how to extract Lisa. Can you explain that?

I am usually not so dense with computer stuff but this is kicking my rear!

Scratch that! I did it! I extracted my fonts! Yippee Yahooey!

If it comes in a Zip file you will need to unzip it. The way to do that is by downloading a free program called winzip. (Its like having to have Adobe to view PDFs). Once you download that it will unzip the font files. It will ask for the locatio that you would like them to be placed in. You want them to be in C:\windows\fonts. Enter that into the window when it asks for it and then push enter and it will do all the work. I hope that is helpful.
