Hi, Does anyone know if eyelets are the same thing as snaps? I accidentally bought snaps instead of eyelets. Are they basically used the same way? Also, what are photo turns? I saw that someone used them on their lo and have no idea what they are. Thanks!
Photo turns are the things on the back of a frame that's used to hold it together (you know, the thing you swivel around, so you can open it up to load the photo in?).
you know what I don't get? And I have a light supply of snaps from swaps and all...but what is the point? why not use a brad instead..sure are a lot easier to use. the look is virtually identical. course snaps remind me a bit more of buttons but....just a meandering thought...
and you know what else i dont get? now, eyelets have their use for sure. but i dont get easter egg eyelets, bow eyelets, and some other shapes. stars okay...hearts even cause of tags and all...but the rest just look weird with a big ol' hole in them! does anyone else agree?
I have to agree with the "big ole holes", LOL. If there's a hole, I think it has to be filled, usually with a fiber. I probably use more brads that eyelets, but they do have their place. Take a peek:
I've used snaps exclusively when I'm trying to bind something that I want to be more permanent? sometimes the brads can unhook themselves. That's probably the only time I'll use them over a brad. brads are so much easier.
LOL at the shaped eyelets. At one time, I had them all. I rak'd a lot away, and have only kept flowers and some basic shapes (hearts, starts). They look cute as tag toppers, or anywhere you need a hole, with ribbons tied through them and stuff. Adds a little bit more texture and interest than just a plain eyelet.
