Transparency use?

I have a question about transparencies. I know they have pre-printed ones in the store, but how much are the blank ones? I keep seeing people use transparencies in their layouts in magazines and such. I was wondering where do they get them and about how much are they per transparency?

I think you can get a bunch of them at staples for not too expensive. I've used page protectors a couple of times so I wouldn't have to buy a bunch of transparancies for 1 project.

I bought 60 of them in a pack at Office Max for about $30 I believe. I don't know if that's expensive or not, I just really wanted some so I didn't really worry about the price. You could probably get them at pretty much any supply store. Just make sure you get the right kind for the type of printer you have (inkjet, copier, etc.)

Those of you that use transparencies, how do you attach them to your page?

Sharon, is there a special setting you used when you printed on your page protectors? When I tried this the ink wouldn't "stick" to the plastic, it just beaded up.

i use eyelets sometimes, but usually i use glue lines -- they're really not very noticeable, i've found. they're really clear and you can see the paper behind them -- though it's not like they disappear. doesn't bother me much.

Well I bit the bullet and bought some online. I hope I got the right one. I'm thinking about selling some per sheet for people like me who only wants some sheets, not a big pack. If anybody wants some, PM me and we'll talk.

Creative Imaginations makes a Scrapper Spray that works awesome on transparency and vellum, I use it all the time. I've also attached them with ribbon, put holes in either end and pull it through the back, hidden it behind other papers and attached there, brads, eyelets, stuff like that.
Make sure you find the ones for inkjet printers if that is what you have at home, otherwise they will smear. There is a special coating on the side you print on to prevent smearing. Amy

Those that are made for inkjet printers have a rough side to them. You have to print in mirror image so that the rough side will lay down on your project and the shiney side is up. HTH!

I get mine at staples too...They are 50 for about $12. I adhere them with Krylon Easy Tack. It comes in a spray can and is completely INVISIBLE! The best part is that it is repositionable too! I get it at Joann's for $5 a can. It works great for vellum, glitter, and magic sand with out turning it into mud.

Forgot to add...my favorite way to adhere transparencies are with staples or brads. I also look for ways to tuck them behind paper. I have tried the Krylon spray and don't like the smell. It is nearly invisible though.

One thing I have tried that works well if the background paper is textured or patterned, is vellum adhesive! Works like a charm!

Wow! Wish mine were that cheap! I got a box of 35 for $30!!! But I love using them , it was totally worth it for me.

I use staples as well! Worth the $$ to buy them, so versatile!

I wonder if the transparency will adhere by using the sticker xyron machine?
